1 Î n zilele lui Amrafel, regele Şinarului, regii Ariok din Elasar, Chedorlaomer din Elam şi Tidal din Goyim,

And it cometh to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim,

2 s -au luptat împotriva regilor Bera din Sodoma, Birşa din Gomora, Şinab din Adma, Şemeber din Ţeboim şi împotriva regelui din Bela, adică Ţoar.

they have made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which Zoar.

3 T oţi aceştia din urmă s-au unit în valea Sidim, adică Marea Sărată.

All these have been joined together unto the valley of Siddim, which the Salt Sea;

4 E i l-au slujit pe Chedorlaomer timp de doisprezece ani, dar in al treisprezecelea an s-au răsculat.

twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 Î n al paisprezecelea an, Chedorlaomer şi regii care erau cu el au venit şi i-au înfrânt pe refaiţi la Aştarot-Karnaim, pe zuziţi la Ham, pe emiţi la Şave Chiriatayim

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings who with him, and they smite the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

6 ş i pe horiţi în ţinutul muntos, din Seir până la El-Paran, la marginea pustiei.

and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-Paran, which by the wilderness;

7 A poi s-au întors şi au venit la En-Mişpat sau Kadeş, unde au cucerit tot teritoriul amalekiţilor, precum şi pe amoriţii care locuiau în Haţaţon-Tamar.

and they turn back and come in unto En-Mishpat, which Kadesh, and smite the whole field of the Amalekite, and also the Amorite who is dwelling in Hazezon-Tamar.

8 A tunci regii din Sodoma, din Gomora, din Adma, din Ţeboim şi din Bela, adică din Ţoar, au ieşit şi s-au pregătit de luptă, în valea Sidim,

And the king of Sodom goeth out, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which Zoar; and they set the battle in array with them in the valley of Siddim,

9 î mpotriva regilor Chedorlaomer din Elam, Tidal din Goyim, Amrafel din Şinar şi Ariok din Elasar – patru regi împotriva a cinci.

with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with the five.

10 V alea Sidim era plină de gropi cu smoală, astfel încât, atunci când regii din Sodoma şi din Gomora au fugit, unii dintre oamenii lor au căzut în ele, iar ceilalţi au fugit înspre dealuri.

And the valley of Siddim full of bitumen-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah flee, and fall there, and those left have fled to the mountain.

11 C ei patru regi au capturat toate bunurile din Sodoma şi din Gomora, precum şi toate proviziile lor de hrană şi au plecat.

And they take the whole substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the whole of their food, and go away;

12 E i l-au capturat şi pe Lot, nepotul lui Avram, care locuia în Sodoma, împreună cu bunurile lui, şi au plecat.

and they take Lot, Abram's brother's son (seeing he is dwelling in Sodom), and his substance, and go away.

13 U n om care a scăpat cu viaţă a venit şi l-a înştiinţat de acest lucru pe evreul Avram, care locuia lângă stejarii amoritului Mamre, fratele lui Eşcol şi al lui Aner; aceştia erau aliaţii lui Avram.

And one who is escaping cometh and declareth to Abram the Hebrew, and he is dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner, and they Abram's allies.

14 C ând Avram a auzit că nepotul său fusese luat prizonier, i-a chemat la luptă pe cei trei sute optsprezece sclavi pregătiţi, născuţi în gospodăria sa, şi a pornit în urmărire până la Dan.

And Abram heareth that his brother hath been taken captive, and he draweth out his trained domestics, three hundred and eighteen, and pursueth unto Dan.

15 E l şi-a împărţit oamenii, i-a atacat pe regi noaptea, i-a izgonit şi i-a urmărit până la Hoba, la nord de Damasc.

And he divideth himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smiteth them, and pursueth them unto Hobah, which at the left of Damascus;

16 A vram a recuperat toate bunurile; l-a adus înapoi şi pe nepotul său, Lot, împreună cu toate bunurile lui, precum şi pe femei şi pe ceilalţi oameni.

and he bringeth back the whole of the substance, and also Lot his brother and his substance hath he brought back, and also the women and the people.

17 D upă ce Avram s-a întors de la înfrângerea lui Chedorlaomer şi a regilor care erau cu el, regele din Sodoma i-a ieşit în întâmpinare în valea Şave, adică Valea Regelui.

And the king of Sodom goeth out to meet him (after his turning back from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who with him), unto the valley of Shaveh, which the king's valley.

18 M elhisedek, regele Salemului, a adus pâine şi vin; el era preot al Dumnezeului cel Preaînalt.

And Melchizedek king of Salem hath brought out bread and wine, and he priest of God Most High;

19 L -a binecuvântat pe Avram astfel: „Binecuvântat să fie Avram de Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt, Creatorul cerului şi al pământului,

and he blesseth him, and saith, `Blessed Abram to God Most High, possessing heaven and earth;

20 ş i binecuvântat să fie Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt, Care i-a dat pe duşmanii tăi în mâinile tale!“ Şi Avram i-a dat zeciuială din toate.

and blessed God Most High, who hath delivered thine adversaries into thy hand;' and he giveth to him a tenth of all.

21 A poi regele din Sodoma i-a zis lui Avram: – Dă-mi oamenii şi păstrează bunurile pentru tine.

And the king of Sodom saith unto Abram, `Give to me the persons, and the substance take to thyself,'

22 D ar Avram i-a răspuns regelui din Sodoma: – I-am jurat Domnului, Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt, Creatorul cerului şi al pământului,

and Abram saith unto the king of Sodom, `I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessing heaven and earth --

23 c ă nu voi lua nici măcar un fir de aţă sau o curea de sandală din ceea ce este al tău, pentru ca să nu pretinzi că l-ai îmbogăţit pe Avram.

from a thread even unto a shoe-latchet I take not of anything which thou hast, that thou say not, I -- I have made Abram rich;

24 E u nu voi lua nimic, în afară de ceea ce au mâncat oamenii mei şi de partea celor care au mers împreună cu mine – Aner, Eşkol şi Mamre. Ei să-şi ia partea lor.

save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who have gone with me -- Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre -- they take their portion.'
