1 D upă şase zile, Isus i-a luat cu Sine pe Petru, pe Iacov şi pe Ioan, fratele acestuia, şi i-a dus, doar pe ei, pe un munte înalt.

And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, and James, and John his brother, and doth bring them up to a high mount by themselves,

2 A colo I-a fost schimbată înfăţişarea înaintea lor. Faţa Lui a strălucit ca soarele, iar hainele Lui au devenit strălucitoare ca lumina.

and he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his garments did become white as the light,

3 Ş i iată că li s-au arătat Moise şi Ilie, stând de vorbă cu El.

and lo, appear to them did Moses and Elijah, talking together with him.

4 P etru I-a zis lui Isus: – Doamne, este bine să fim aici! Dacă vrei, voi face aici trei corturi: unul pentru Tine, unul pentru Moise şi unul pentru Ilie!

And Peter answering said to Jesus, `Sir, it is good to us to be here; if thou wilt, we may make here three booths -- for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elijah.'

5 Î n timp ce vorbea el, iată că un nor strălucitor i-a acoperit, iar un glas din nor a zis: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit, în Care-Mi găsesc plăcerea! De El să ascultaţi! “

While he is yet speaking, lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, `This is My Son, -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight; hear him.'

6 C ând au auzit glasul, ucenicii au căzut cu faţa la pământ şi s-au înspăimântat foarte tare.

And the disciples having heard, did fall upon their face, and were exceedingly afraid,

7 I sus a venit la ei, i-a atins şi le-a zis: – Ridicaţi-vă şi nu vă temeţi!

and Jesus having come near, touched them, and said, `Rise, be not afraid,'

8 C ând şi-au ridicat privirea, n-au mai văzut pe nimeni, decât pe Isus singur.

and having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus only.

9 Î n timp ce coborau de pe munte, Isus le-a poruncit: – Să nu spuneţi nimănui despre viziune, până când nu va fi înviat Fiul Omului dintre cei morţi!

And as they are coming down from the mount, Jesus charged them, saying, `Say to no one the vision, till the Son of Man out of the dead may rise.'

10 U cenicii L-au întrebat: – Atunci de ce spun cărturarii că trebuie să vină mai întâi Ilie?

And his disciples questioned him, saying, `Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behoveth to come first?'

11 E l le-a răspuns: – Într-adevăr, Ilie vine, şi el va restaura toate lucrurile.

And Jesus answering said to them, `Elijah doth indeed come first, and shall restore all things,

12 D ar Eu vă spun că Ilie a venit deja, însă ei nu l-au recunoscut, ci au făcut cu el ce-au vrut. Tot aşa urmează să sufere şi Fiul Omului din partea lor.

and I say to you -- Elijah did already come, and they did not know him, but did with him whatever they would, so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them.'

13 A tunci ucenicii au înţeles că le vorbise despre Ioan Botezătorul. Ucenicii nu pot vindeca un copil demoniac

Then understood the disciples that concerning John the Baptist he spake to them.

14 C ând au ajuns la mulţime, un om a venit la El, a îngenuncheat înaintea Lui

And when they came unto the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down to him,

15 ş i I-a zis: – Doamne, ai milă de fiul meu, căci este epileptic şi suferă cumplit! El cade adesea în foc şi cade adesea în apă!

and saying, `Sir, deal kindly with my son, for he is lunatic, and doth suffer miserably, for often he doth fall into the fire, and often into the water,

16 L -am adus la ucenicii Tăi, dar n-au putut să-l vindece.

and I brought him near to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.'

17 I sus a răspuns: – O, generaţie necredincioasă şi pervertită! Până când voi mai fi cu voi? Până când vă voi mai răbda? Aduceţi-l aici la Mine!

And Jesus answering said, `O generation, unstedfast and perverse, till when shall I be with you? till when shall I bear you? bring him to me hither;'

18 I sus a certat demonul şi acesta a ieşit afară din el. Şi copilul a fost vindecat chiar în ceasul acela.

and Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the lad was healed from that hour.

19 A tunci ucenicii au venit doar ei la Isus şi L-au întrebat: – Noi de ce n-am putut să-l scoatem?

Then the disciples having come to Jesus by himself, said, `Wherefore were we not able to cast him out?'

20 E l le-a răspuns: – Din pricina puţinei voastre credinţe! Adevărat vă spun că, dacă aţi avea credinţă cât un bob de muştar, aţi zice acestui munte: „Mută-te de aici, acolo!“, iar el s-ar muta! Nimic nu v-ar fi imposibil!

And Jesus said to them, `Through your want of faith; for verily I say to you, if ye may have faith as a grain of mustard, ye shall say to this mount, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you,

21 ( Dar acest soi de demoni nu iese afară decât cu rugăciune şi post.) Isus vorbeşte din nou despre moartea şi învierea Sa

and this kind doth not go forth except in prayer and fasting.'

22 Î n timp ce erau adunaţi în Galileea, Isus le-a zis: „Fiul Omului urmează să fie trădat în mâinile oamenilor.

And while they are living in Galilee, Jesus said to them, `The Son of Man is about to be delivered up to the hands of men,

23 E i Îl vor omorî, dar a treia zi va fi înviat“. Ei s-au întristat foarte tare. Taxa pentru Templu

and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise,' and they were exceeding sorry.

24 C ând au ajuns în Capernaum, au venit la Petru cei ce încasau didrahma pentru Templu şi l-au întrebat: – Învăţătorul vostru nu plăteşte didrahma pentru Templu ?

And they having come to Capernaum, those receiving the didrachms came near to Peter, and said, `Your teacher -- doth he not pay the didrachms?' He saith, `Yes.'

25 E l le-a răspuns: – Ba da. Când Petru a intrat în casă, Isus a vorbit primul şi a zis: – Ce părere ai, Simone? De la cine strâng regii pământului tributuri sau taxe? De la fiii lor sau de la străini?

And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, `What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth -- from whom do they receive custom or poll-tax? from their sons or from the strangers?'

26 P etru I-a răspuns: – De la străini. Isus i-a zis: – Aşadar, fiii sunt scutiţi.

Peter saith to him, `From the strangers.' Jesus said to him, `Then are the sons free;

27 T otuşi, ca să nu-i facem să se poticnească, du-te la mare, aruncă undiţa şi trage afară primul peşte care va veni. Când îi vei deschide gura, vei găsi un stater; ia-l şi dă-li-l lor pentru Mine şi pentru tine!

but, that we may not cause them to stumble, having gone to the sea, cast a hook, and the fish that hath come up first take thou up, and having opened its mouth, thou shalt find a stater, that having taken, give to them for me and thee.'
