1 C ând s-au apropiat de Ierusalim şi au ajuns la Betfaghe şi Betania, lângă Muntele Măslinilor, Isus i-a trimis pe doi dintre ucenicii Săi în sat,

And when they come nigh to Jerusalem, to Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount of the Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2 s punându-le: „Duceţi-vă în satul dinaintea voastră şi imediat ce intraţi în el, veţi găsi legat un măgăruş pe care nu a încălecat încă nici un om. Dezlegaţi-l şi aduceţi-l!

and saith to them, `Go away to the village that is over-against you, and immediately, entering into it, ye shall find a colt tied, on which no one of men hath sat, having loosed it, bring:

3 D acă vă va zice cineva: «De ce faceţi aceasta?», să-i spuneţi: «Domnul are nevoie de el. Şi imediat îl va trimite înapoi aici.»“

and if any one may say to you, Why do ye this? say ye that the lord hath need of it, and immediately he will send it hither.'

4 E i s-au dus, au găsit măgăruşul legat lângă uşă, afară în stradă, şi l-au dezlegat.

And they went away, and found the colt tied at the door without, by the two ways, and they loose it,

5 C ei care stăteau acolo i-au întrebat: „Ce faceţi de dezlegaţi măgăruşul?“

and certain of those standing there said to them, `What do ye -- loosing the colt?'

6 E i le-au zis aşa cum le spusese Isus şi aceştia i-au lăsat să plece.

and they said to them as Jesus commanded, and they suffered them.

7 A u adus măgăruşul la Isus, şi-au pus hainele peste el, iar Isus S-a aşezat deasupra lui.

And they brought the colt unto Jesus, and did cast upon it their garments, and he sat upon it,

8 M ulţi îşi aşterneau hainele pe drum, iar alţii presărau ramuri pe care le tăiaseră de pe câmpuri.

and many did spread their garments in the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way.

9 C ei care mergeau înainte şi cei care-L urmau strigau: „ Osana! Binecuvântat este Cel Ce vine în Numele Domnului!

And those going before and those following were crying out, saying, `Hosanna! blessed he who is coming in the name of the Lord;

10 B inecuvântată este Împărăţia care vine, Împărăţia părintelui nostru David! Osana în locurile preaînalte!“ Isus curăţă Templul

blessed is the coming reign, in the name of the Lord, of our father David; Hosanna in the highest.'

11 A intrat în Ierusalim, în Templu, s-a uitat de jur-împrejur la toate lucrurile şi, pentru că era deja seara târziu, S-a dus la Betania împreună cu cei doisprezece.

And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple, and having looked round on all things, it being now evening, he went forth to Bethany with the twelve.

12 Î n ziua următoare, după ce au ieşit din Betania, lui Isus I s-a făcut foame.

And on the morrow, they having come forth from Bethany, he hungered,

13 A văzut de departe un smochin care avea frunze şi S-a dus să vadă dacă va găsi ceva în el. Dar, când a ajuns, n-a găsit decât frunze, pentru că nu era vremea smochinelor.

and having seen a fig-tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he shall find anything in it, and having come to it, he found nothing except leaves, for it was not a time of figs,

14 A tunci i-a zis: „În veac să nu mai mănânce nimeni roade din tine!“ Ucenicii Lui au auzit aceasta.

and Jesus answering said to it, `No more from thee -- to the age -- may any eat fruit;' and his disciples were hearing.

15 A u ajuns în Ierusalim. El a intrat în Templu şi a început să-i scoată afară pe cei ce vindeau şi cumpărau în Templu. A răsturnat mesele schimbătorilor de bani şi scaunele celor ce vindeau porumbei

And they come to Jerusalem, and Jesus having gone into the temple, began to cast forth those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those selling the doves, he overthrew,

16 ş i nu lăsa pe nimeni să ducă vreo marfă prin Templu.

and he did not suffer that any might bear a vessel through the temple,

17 E l îi învăţa şi le zicea: „Oare nu este scris: «Casa Mea va fi numită o casă de rugăciune pentru toate neamurile.» ? Dar voi aţi făcut din ea o peşteră de tâlhari!“

and he was teaching, saying to them, `Hath it not been written -- My house a house of prayer shall be called for all the nations, and ye did make it a den of robbers?'

18 C onducătorii preoţilor şi cărturarii au auzit lucrul acesta şi căutau o modalitate să-L omoare, pentru că se temeau de El, deoarece întreaga mulţime era uimită de învăţătura Lui.

And the scribes and the chief priests heard, and they were seeking how they shall destroy him, for they were afraid of him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching;

19 Ş i ori de câte ori se făcea târziu, Isus şi ucenicii Lui ieşeau afară din cetate. Smochinul uscat. Puterea credinţei

and when evening came, he was going forth without the city.

20 D imineaţa, când au trecut pe lângă smochin, au văzut că era uscat din rădăcini.

And in the morning, passing by, they saw the fig-tree having been dried up from the roots,

21 P etru şi-a amintit ce se întâmplase şi i-a zis: – Rabbi, iată că smochinul pe care l-ai blestemat s-a uscat!

and Peter having remembered saith to him, `Rabbi, lo, the fig-tree that thou didst curse is dried up.'

22 I sus a răspuns: – Aveţi credinţă în Dumnezeu!

And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God;

23 A devărat vă spun că dacă cineva ar zice acestui munte: „Ridică-te şi aruncă-te în mare!“ şi nu s-ar îndoi în inima lui, ci ar crede că ceea ce spune se va întâmpla, i se va da întocmai!

for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say.

24 D e aceea vă spun că toate lucrurile pe care le cereţi atunci când vă rugaţi, să credeţi că le-aţi şi primit şi ele vi se vor da.

Because of this I say to you, all whatever -- praying -- ye do ask, believe that ye receive, and it shall be to you.

25 Ş i când staţi în picioare rugându-vă, să iertaţi dacă aveţi ceva împotriva cuiva, pentru ca şi Tatăl vostru Care este în ceruri să vă ierte vouă greşelile.

`And whenever ye may stand praying, forgive, if ye have anything against any one, that your Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your trespasses;

26 ( Dar dacă nu iertaţi, nici Tatăl vostru Care este în ceruri nu va ierta greşelile voastre.) Autoritatea lui Isus

and, if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your trespasses.'

27 A u intrat apoi din nou în Ierusalim. În timp ce se plimba prin Templu, au venit la El conducătorii preoţilor, cărturarii şi bătrânii

And they come again to Jerusalem, and in the temple, as he is walking, there come unto him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

28 ş i L-au întrebat: – Cu ce autoritate faci aceste lucruri? Şi cine Ţi-a dat această autoritate ca să le faci?

and they say to him, `By what authority dost thou these things? and who gave thee this authority that these things thou mayest do?'

29 I sus le-a răspuns: – Vă voi pune o întrebare. Răspundeţi-Mi, şi vă voi spune cu ce autoritate fac aceste lucruri.

And Jesus answering said to them, `I will question you -- I also -- one word; and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things;

30 B otezul lui Ioan era din cer sau de la oameni? Răspundeţi-Mi!

the baptism of John -- from heaven was it? or from men? answer me.'

31 E i au început să vorbească între ei şi să zică: „Dacă vom răspunde: «Din cer!», ne va întreba: «Atunci de ce nu l-aţi crezut?».

And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, `If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?

32 S au să răspundem: «De la oameni!»?“ Ei se temeau de mulţime, fiindcă toţi considerau că Ioan a fost într-adevăr un profet.

But if we may say, From men,' -- they were fearing the people, for all were holding John that he was indeed a prophet;

33 A şa că I-au răspuns lui Isus: – Nu ştim! Atunci şi Isus le-a zis: – Nici Eu nu vă spun cu ce autoritate fac aceste lucruri.

and answering they say to Jesus, `We have not known;' and Jesus answering saith to them, `Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.'
