1 E lisei îi zisese femeii pe al cărei fiu îl înviase: „Scoală-te şi pleacă din ţară împreună cu familia ta şi locuieşte pe unde vei putea, pentru că Domnul a hotărât să vină o foamete de şapte ani peste ţară şi ea a şi început.“

And Elisha spake unto the woman whose son he had revived, saying, `Rise and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn where thou dost sojourn, for Jehovah hath called for a famine, and also, it is coming unto the land seven years.'

2 F emeia a făcut îndată aşa cum îi spusese omul lui Dumnezeu. A plecat împreună cu familia ei şi a locuit în Filistia timp de şapte ani.

And the woman riseth, and doth according to the word of the man of God, and goeth, she and her household, and sojourneth in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 L a sfârşitul celor şapte ani femeia s-a întors din Filistia şi a venit să facă regelui o rugăminte pentru casa şi pământul ei.

And it cometh to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turneth back from the land of the Philistines, and goeth out to cry unto the king, for her house, and for her field.

4 R egele tocmai vorbea cu Ghehazi, slujitorul omului lui Dumnezeu, şi-i zicea: „Istoriseşte-mi, te rog, toate isprăvile făcute de Elisei!“

And the king is speaking unto Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, `Recount, I pray thee, to me, the whole of the great things that Elisha hath done.'

5 C hiar în momentul în care Ghehazi îi istorisea regelui cum a înviat Elisei un mort, a intrat femeia pe al cărei fiu îl înviase Elisei, ca să facă o rugăminte regelui pentru casa şi pământul ei. Şi Ghehazi a zis: „O, rege, stăpânul meu, aceasta este femeia despre care vorbeam şi acesta este fiul ei, care a fost înviat de Elisei!“

And it cometh to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and lo, the woman whose son he had revived is crying unto the king, for her house and for her field, and Gehazi saith, `My lord, O king, this the woman, and this her son, whom Elisha revived.'

6 R egele a întrebat-o pe femeie şi ea i-a istorisit totul. Apoi regele i-a dat un slujbaş, zicându-i: „Să i se înapoieze tot ce a fost al ei, împreună cu tot venitul pământului ei, din ziua în care a părăsit ţara şi până acum!“ Hazael ajunge rege al Aramului

And the king asketh at the woman, and she recounteth to him, and the king appointeth to her a certain eunuch, saying, `Give back all that she hath, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even till now.'

7 E lisei a venit la Damasc. În acest timp Ben-Hadad, regele Aramului, era bolnav. El a fost înştiinţat că a venit omul lui Dumnezeu.

And Elisha cometh in to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, `The man of God hath come hither.'

8 R egele i-a zis lui Hazael: „Ia cu tine un dar, du-te, întâlneşte-te cu omul lui Dumnezeu şi întreabă-L pe Domnul prin el, zicându-i: «Mă voi vindeca de boala aceasta? »“

And the king saith unto Hazael, `Take in thy hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and thou hast sought Jehovah by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

9 H azael s-a dus, aşadar, să se întâlnească cu Elisei şi a luat cu el, ca dar, patruzeci de cămile încărcate cu tot ce era mai bun în Damasc. Când a ajuns la Elisei, s-a înfăţişat înaintea lui şi a zis: – Fiul tău, Ben-Hadad, regele Aramului, m-a trimis la tine să te întreb dacă se va vindeca de boala lui.

And Hazael goeth to meet him, and taketh a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he cometh in and standeth before him, and saith, `Thy son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, hath sent me unto thee, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

10 E lisei i-a răspuns: – Du-te şi spune-i: „Cu siguranţă te vei vindeca“, deşi Domnul mi-a arătat că sigur va muri.

And Elisha saith unto him, `Go, say, Thou dost certainly not revive, seeing Jehovah hath shewed me that he doth surely die.'

11 A poi el şi-a aţintit privirea spre Hazael şi s-a uitat la el până când acesta s-a jenat. Şi omul lui Dumnezeu a început să plângă.

And he setteth his face, yea, he setteth till he is ashamed, and the man of God weepeth.

12 – De ce plângi, stăpâne? a întrebat Hazael. – Pentru că ştiu răul pe care îl vei face israeliţilor, a răspuns el. Vei da foc cetăţilor lor întărite, îi vei ucide cu sabia pe tinerii lor, îi vei tăia în bucăţi pe copiii lor şi le vei spinteca pe femeile lor însărcinate.

And Hazael saith, `Wherefore is my lord weeping?' and he saith, `Because I have known the evil that thou dost to the sons of Israel -- their fenced places thou dost send into fire, and their young men with sword thou dost slay, and their sucklings thou dost dash to pieces, and their pregnant women thou dost rip up.'

13 H azael i-a zis: – Cum ar putea slujitorul tău, un biet câine, să poată face un lucru atât de mare? – Domnul mi-a arătat că vei fi regele Aramului, i-a răspuns Elisei.

And Hazael saith, `But what, thy servant the dog, that he doth this great thing?' And Elisha saith, `Jehovah hath shewed me thee -- king of Aram.'

14 A poi Hazael a plecat de la Elisei şi s-a întors la stăpânul său, care l-a întrebat: – Ce ţi-a spus Elisei? – Mi-a spus că sigur te vei vindeca, i-a răspuns el.

And he goeth from Elisha, and cometh in unto his lord, and he saith unto him, `What said Elisha to thee?' and he saith, `He said to me, Thou dost certainly recover.'

15 D ar a doua zi Hazael a luat o pânză netedă şi, după ce a înmuiat-o în apă, a întins-o pe faţa regelui, care a murit. Şi în locul lui a domnit Hazael. Domnia lui Iehoram peste Israel

And it cometh to pass on the morrow, that he taketh the coarse cloth, and dippeth in water, and spreadeth on his face, and he dieth, and Hazael reigneth in his stead.

16 Î n al cincilea an al domniei lui Ioram, fiul lui Ahab, regele lui Israel, în timp ce Iehoşafat era rege al lui Iuda, a început să domnească Iehoram, fiul lui Iehoşafat, regele lui Iuda.

And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel -- and Jehoshaphat king of Judah -- hath Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah reigned;

17 E l era în vârstă de treizeci şi doi de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de opt ani.

a son of thirty and two years was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem.

18 E l a umblat în calea regilor lui Israel, făcând ce este rău înaintea Domnului, aşa cum a făcut familia lui Ahab, deoarece soţia sa era chiar o fiică a lui Ahab.

And he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

19 T otuşi Domnul nu a dorit să nimicească Iuda, de dragul lui David, robul Său, fiindcă îi promisese că-i va da, pentru totdeauna, o lumină lui şi urmaşilor lui.

and Jehovah was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, as He said to him, to give to him a lamp -- to his sons all the days.

20 P e vremea lui Iehoram, Edom s-a răsculat împotriva stăpânirii lui Iuda şi şi-a ales propriul său rege.

In his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,

21 A tunci Iehoram a trecut în Ţair împreună cu toate carele lui. Edomiţii îl înconjuraseră, pe el şi pe conducătorii carelor, dar el s-a sculat în toiul nopţii şi a scăpat din încercuire, iar armata lui s-a retras.

and Joram passeth over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself hath risen by night, and smiteth Edom, that is coming round about unto him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people fleeth to its tents;

22 R ăscoala lui Edom împotriva stăpânirii lui Iuda a ţinut până în ziua de azi. Tot în aceea perioadă s-a răsculat şi Libna.

and Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah till this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time.

23 C elelalte fapte ale lui Iehoram şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“?

And the rest of the matters of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 I ehoram s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat alături de părinţii săi, în Cetatea lui David. În locul său a început să domnească Ahazia, fiul său. Domnia lui Ahazia peste Iuda

And Joram lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and reign doth Ahaziah his son in his stead.

25 Î n al doisprezecelea an al domniei lui Ioram, fiul lui Ahab, regele lui Israel, a început să domnească Ahazia, fiul lui Iehoram, regele lui Iuda.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel reigned hath Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah;

26 A hazia era în vârstă de douăzeci şi doi de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de un an. Numele mamei sale era Atalia, o nepoată a lui Omri, regele lui Israel.

a son of twenty and two years Ahaziah in his reigning, and one year he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Athaliah daughter of Omri king of Israel,

27 Ş i el a umblat în căile familiei lui Ahab, făcând ce este rău înaintea Domnului, întocmai ca şi familia lui Ahab, căci era căsătorit cu cineva din familia lui Ahab.

and he walketh in the way of the house of Ahab, and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab, for he son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28 E l s-a dus cu Ioram, fiul lui Ahab, să lupte împotriva lui Hazael, regele Aramului, la Ramot-Ghilad. Acolo însă arameii l-au rănit pe Ioram.

And he goeth with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Aramaeans smite Joram,

29 R egele Ioram s-a întors la Izreel, ca să se vindece de rănile pe care arameii i le pricinuiseră la Rama în timpul luptei cu Hazael, regele Aramului. Atunci Ahazia, fiul lui Iehoram, regele lui Iuda, s-a dus la Izreel ca să-l vadă pe Ioram, fiul lui Ahab, fiindcă acesta era rănit.

and Joram the king turneth back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans smite him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.
