1 V oi sunteţi copiii Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru. Să nu vă faceţi crestături şi să nu vă radeţi partea din faţă a capului pentru un mort,

`Sons ye to Jehovah your God; ye do not cut yourselves, nor make baldness between your eyes for the dead;

2 f iindcă voi sunteţi un popor sfânt pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. El v-a ales dintre toate popoarele de pe pământ, ca să fiţi poporul Lui, comoara Lui.

for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God, and on thee hath Jehovah fixed to be to Him for a people, a peculiar treasure, out of all the peoples who on the face of the ground.

3 S ă nu mâncaţi nimic necurat.

`Thou dost not eat any abominable thing;

4 A cestea sunt animalele pe care puteţi să le mâncaţi: boul, oaia şi capra,

`this the beast which ye do eat: ox, lamb of the sheep, or kid of the goats,

5 c erbul, gazela, căprioara, ţapul sălbatic, pigargul, antilopa şi oaia sălbatică.

hart, and roe, and fallow deer, and wild goat, and pygarg, and wild ox, and chamois;

6 S ă mâncaţi din orice animal care rumegă şi are copita sau unghia despicată, adică despărţită în două.

and every beast dividing the hoof, and cleaving the cleft into two hoofs, bringing up the cud, among the beasts -- it ye do eat.

7 D ar dintre cele care doar rumegă sau au doar copita despicată să nu mâncaţi următoarele: cămila, iepurele sălbatic şi viezurele, pentru că, deşi rumegă, acestea nu au copita despicată; să le consideraţi necurate.

`Only, this ye do not eat, of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit, for they are bringing up the cud but the hoof have not divided; unclean they to you;

8 D e asemenea, să consideraţi necurat şi porcul pentru că, deşi are copita despicată, nu rumegă. Să nu mâncaţi din carnea lor şi să nu vă atingeţi de hoiturile lor.

and the sow, for it is dividing the hoof, and not up the cud, unclean it to you; of their flesh ye do not eat, and against their carcase ye do not come.

9 D intre cele care sunt în apă puteţi mânca din tot ce are aripioare şi solzi;

`This ye do eat of all that in the waters; all that hath fins and scales ye do eat;

10 d ar din acelea care nu au aripioare şi solzi, să nu mâncaţi; să le consideraţi necurate.

and anything which hath not fins and scales ye do not eat; unclean it to you.

11 P uteţi să mâncaţi din orice pasăre curată.

`Any clean bird ye do eat;

12 P ăsările pe care nu puteţi să le mâncaţi sunt următoarele: vulturul, vulturul pleşuv, acvila,

and these they of which ye do not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

13 g aia roşie, şorecarul şi toate speciile lui,

and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after its kind,

14 c orbul şi toate speciile lui,

and every raven after its kind;

15 s truţul, striga, pescăruşul, şoimul şi toate speciile lui,

and the owl, and the night-hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after its kind;

16 c ucuveaua, bufniţa şi ciuful de pădure,

the owl, and the owl, and the swan,

17 c iuşul, uliganul pescar, cormoranul,

and the pelican, and the gier-eagle, and the cormorant,

18 b arza, bâtlanul şi toate speciile lui, pupăza şi liliacul.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the lapwing, and the bat;

19 D e asemenea, să consideraţi necurată orice insectă zburătoare care mişună; să nu mâncaţi din ele.

and every teeming thing which is flying, unclean it to you; they are not eaten;

20 P uteţi mânca din orice creatură zburătoare considerată curată.

any clean fowl ye do eat.

21 S ă nu mâncaţi din nici un hoit; să-l daţi străinului care trăieşte printre voi să-l mănânce, sau să-l vindeţi celui de alt neam, fiindcă voi sunteţi un popor sfânt pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. Să nu fierbeţi iedul în laptele mamei lui. Reglementări privind zeciuielile

`Ye do not eat of any carcase; to the sojourner who within thy gates thou dost give it, and he hath eaten it; or sell to a stranger; for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 S ă pui deoparte a zecea parte din tot ce-ţi va produce sămânţa, din tot ce-ţi va da pământul în fiecare an.

`Thou dost certainly tithe all the increase of thy seed which the field is bringing forth year by year;

23 S ă mănânci zeciuiala din grânele, din mustul şi din uleiul tău, întâii născuţi din cireada şi turma ta, în prezenţa Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, în locul pe care-L va alege ca să Îşi aşeze Numele acolo, ca să înveţi să te temi întotdeauna de El.

and thou hast eaten before Jehovah thy God, in the place where He doth choose to cause His name to tabernacle, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd, and of thy flock, so that thou dost learn to fear Jehovah thy God all the days.

24 D ar dacă, atunci când te va binecuvânta Domnul, drumul pe care-l ai de făcut este prea lung şi nu eşti în stare să duci zeciuiala deoarece locul unde a ales Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să-Şi pună Numele este prea departe de tine,

`And when the way is too much for thee, that thou art not able to carry it -- when the place is too far off from thee which Jehovah thy God doth choose to put His name there, when Jehovah thy God doth bless thee; --

25 a tunci s-o schimbi în argint, să iei argintul acela în mâini şi să te duci la locul pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, l-a ales.

then thou hast given in money, and hast bound up the money in thy hand, and gone unto the place on which Jehovah thy God doth fix;

26 A colo să cumperi cu argintul tot ce-ţi doreşte sufletul: vite, oi, vin sau băutură tare, sau orice altceva vei dori. Să mănânci şi să te bucuri acolo, tu şi familia ta, în prezenţa Domnului, Dumnezeul tău.

and thou hast given the money for any thing which thy soul desireth, for oxen, and for sheep, and for wine, and for strong drink, and for any thing which thy soul asketh, and thou hast eaten there before Jehovah thy God, and thou hast rejoiced, thou and thy house.

27 S ă nu uiţi de levitul care este în cetăţile tale, fiindcă el nu are nici teritoriu şi nici moştenire în popor.

As to the Levite who within thy gates, thou dost not forsake him, for he hath no portion and inheritance with thee.

28 L a sfârşitul celui de-al treilea an să scoţi toată zeciuiala din producţia acelui an şi să o aşezi în cetăţile tale.

`At the end of three years thou dost bring out all the tithe of thine increase in that year, and hast placed within thy gates;

29 A tunci să vină levitul care nu are teritoriu sau moştenire în popor, străinul, orfanul şi văduva din cetăţile tale şi să mănânce şi să se sature, pentru ca Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să te binecuvânteze în toate lucrările pe care le vei face cu mâinile tale.

and come in hath the Levite (for he hath no part and inheritance with thee), and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who within thy gates, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, so that Jehovah thy God doth bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou dost.
