1 « أنتُمْ أولادٌ لإلَهِكُمْ ، فَلا تُجَرِّحُوا أنفُسَكُمْ، وَلا تَحلِقُوا الشَّعرَ الَّذِي فَوقَ جِباهِكُمْ حُزناً عَلَى المَوتَى،

`Sons ye to Jehovah your God; ye do not cut yourselves, nor make baldness between your eyes for the dead;

2 ل أنَّكُمْ شَعبٌ مُقَدَّسٌ وَخاصٌّ بِإلَهِكُمْ ، وَقَدِ اختارَكُمْ اللهُ مِنْ بَينِ جَميعِ شُعُوبِ الأرْضِ لِتَكُونُوا شَعبَهُ الخاصَّ. الحَيواناتُ الطّاهِرَةُ وَالنَّجِسَة

for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God, and on thee hath Jehovah fixed to be to Him for a people, a peculiar treasure, out of all the peoples who on the face of the ground.

3 « لا تَأكُلُوا شَيئاً مَكرُوهاً.

`Thou dost not eat any abominable thing;

4 و َهَذِهِ هِيَ الحَيواناتُ الَّتِي يُمكِنُكُمْ أنْ تَأكُلُوها: البَقَرَ وَالغَنَمَ وَالماعِزَ

`this the beast which ye do eat: ox, lamb of the sheep, or kid of the goats,

5 و َالغَزالَ وَالإيَّلَ وَالغَزالَ الأبْيَضَ وَالماعِزَ البَرِّيَّ وَالوَعلَ وَالبَقَرَ الوَحشِيَّ وَماعِزَ الجِبالِ.

hart, and roe, and fallow deer, and wild goat, and pygarg, and wild ox, and chamois;

6 ي ُمكِنُكُمْ أنْ تَأكُلُوا أيَّ حَيوانٍ يَجْتَرُّ وَحافِرُهُ مَشقُوقٌ إلَى قِسْمَينِ.

and every beast dividing the hoof, and cleaving the cleft into two hoofs, bringing up the cud, among the beasts -- it ye do eat.

7 ل َكِنْ مِنَ الحَيواناتِ الَّتِي تَجتَرُّ أوْ لَها حافِرٌ مَشقُوقٌ، لا تَأكُلُوا الجَمَلَ وَالأرنَبَ وَالوَبارَ، لأنَّها تَجتَرُّ وَلَكِنَّ حافِرَها غَيرَ مَشقُوقٍ فَهِيَ نَجِسَةٌ لَكُمْ.

`Only, this ye do not eat, of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit, for they are bringing up the cud but the hoof have not divided; unclean they to you;

8 ل ا تَأكُلُوا لَحمَ الخِنزِيرِ. فَحافِرُهُ مَشقُوقٌ، لَكِنَّهُ لا يَجتَرُّ. لا تَأكُلُوا مِنْ لَحمِهِ وَلا تَلمَسُوا جُثَّتَهُ المَيِّتَةَ لأنَّها نَجِسَةٌ لَكُمْ.

and the sow, for it is dividing the hoof, and not up the cud, unclean it to you; of their flesh ye do not eat, and against their carcase ye do not come.

9 « أمّا مِنْ كُلِّ الكائِناتِ الَّتِي فِي الماءِ، فَيُمكِنُكُمْ أنْ تَأكُلُوا كُلَّ ما لَهُ زَعانِفَ وَحَراشِفَ.

`This ye do eat of all that in the waters; all that hath fins and scales ye do eat;

10 و َلَكِنْ كُلُّ ما لَيسَ لَهُ زَعانِفٌ أوْ حَراشِفٌ فَلا يَجُوزُ لَكُمْ أنْ تَأكُلُوهُ، فَهُوَ نَجِسٌ لَكُمْ.

and anything which hath not fins and scales ye do not eat; unclean it to you.

11 « يُمكِنُكُمْ أكلُ أيِّ طائِرٍ طاهِرٍ.

`Any clean bird ye do eat;

12 أ مّا الطُّيُورُ الَّتِي لا يَنْبَغِي أنْ تَأكُلُوها فَهِيَ النَّسرُ وَالأنُوقُ وَالعُقابُ،

and these they of which ye do not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

13 و َالحِدَأةُ وَالشّاهِينُ وَكُلُّ أنواعِ الصُّقُورِ،

and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after its kind,

14 و َكُلُّ أنواعِ الغِربانِ،

and every raven after its kind;

15 و َالنَّعامُ وَالخُطّافُ وَالنَّورَسُ وَكُلُّ أنواعِ البازِ،

and the owl, and the night-hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after its kind;

16 و َالبُومُ وَالكُرْكِيُّ وَالبَجَعُ،

the owl, and the owl, and the swan,

17 و َالقُوقُ وَالرَّخَمُ وَالغَوّاصُ،

and the pelican, and the gier-eagle, and the cormorant,

18 و َالَّلَقلَقُ وَمالِكُ الحَزِينُ بِأنْواعِهِ وَالهُدهُدُ وَالخُفّاشُ.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the lapwing, and the bat;

19 و َكُلُّ الحَشَراتِ ذَواتِ الأجنِحَةِ نَجِسَةٌ فَلا تَأكُلُوها.

and every teeming thing which is flying, unclean it to you; they are not eaten;

20 و َأمّا كُلُّ طائِرٍ طاهِرٍ فَيُمكِنُكُمْ أكلُهُ.

any clean fowl ye do eat.

21 « لا تَأكُلُوا أيَّ حَيَوانٍ ماتَ مِيتَةً طَبِيعِيَّةً، بَلْ أعطُوها لَلغَرِيبِ السّاكِنِ فِي مُدُنِكُمْ فَيَأكُلَهُ. أوْ بيعُوهُ لأيِّ غَرِيبٍ يَزُورُ أرْضَكُمْ، لأنَّكُمْ شَعبٌ مُقَدَّسٌ وَخاصٌّ لإلَهِكُمْ. وَلا تَطبُخُوا جِدياً بِحَليبِ أُمِّهِ. العُشُور

`Ye do not eat of any carcase; to the sojourner who within thy gates thou dost give it, and he hath eaten it; or sell to a stranger; for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 « ضَعُوا جانِباً عُشْرَ كُلِّ مَحاصِيلِكُمُ الَّتِي تَنبُتُ فِي الأرْضِ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ.

`Thou dost certainly tithe all the increase of thy seed which the field is bringing forth year by year;

23 و َكُلُوا عُشْرَ قَمْحِكُمْ وَنَبِيذِكُمُ وَزَيتِكُمْ، وَأبْكارِ بَقَرِكُمْ وَغَنَمِكُمْ فِي حَضْرَةِ إلَهِكُمْ ، وَفِي المَكانِ الَّذِي يَختارُهُ لِيُسكِنَ اسْمَهُ فِيهِ، لِتَتَعَلَّمُوا أنْ تَهابُوا إلَهَكُمْ دائِماً.

and thou hast eaten before Jehovah thy God, in the place where He doth choose to cause His name to tabernacle, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd, and of thy flock, so that thou dost learn to fear Jehovah thy God all the days.

24 « وَلَكِنْ إذا كانَتِ المَسافَةُ طَوِيلَةً، وَلَمْ تَتَمَكَّنُوا مِنْ حَملِ العُشُورِ، لِأنَّ المَكانَ الَّذِي اخْتارَ إلَهُكُمْ أنْ يَضَعَ اسْمَهُ فِيهِ بَعِيدٌ عَنكُمْ حِينَ يُبارِكُكُمْ،

`And when the way is too much for thee, that thou art not able to carry it -- when the place is too far off from thee which Jehovah thy God doth choose to put His name there, when Jehovah thy God doth bless thee; --

25 ع َوِّضُوا عَنْ عُشرِ الطَّعامِ بِمالٍ. وَخُذُوا المالَ مَعَكُمْ إلَى المَكانِ الَّذِي سَيَختارُهُ إلَهُكُمْ.

then thou hast given in money, and hast bound up the money in thy hand, and gone unto the place on which Jehovah thy God doth fix;

26 و َهُناكَ، اشْتَرُوا ما تَحْتاجُونَ إلَيهِ مِنْ بَقَرٍ أوْ غَنَمٍ أوْ نَبيذٍ أوْ شَرابٍ أوْ أيِّ شَيءٍ تُرِيدُونَهُ. فَكُلُوا أنتُمْ وَعائِلاتُكُمْ فِي حَضْرَةِ إلَهِكُمْ وَابتَهِجُوا مَعاً.

and thou hast given the money for any thing which thy soul desireth, for oxen, and for sheep, and for wine, and for strong drink, and for any thing which thy soul asketh, and thou hast eaten there before Jehovah thy God, and thou hast rejoiced, thou and thy house.

27 و َلا تُهمِلُوا الَّلاوِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ فِي مُدُنِكُمْ، إذْ لَيسَ لَهُمْ حِصَّةٌ مِنَ الأرْضِ مَعكُمْ.

As to the Levite who within thy gates, thou dost not forsake him, for he hath no portion and inheritance with thee.

28 « وَفِي نِهايَةِ كُلِّ ثَلاثِ سَنَواتٍ، أحضِرُوا عُشرَ كُلِّ مَحاصِيلِ حُقُولِكُمْ فِي تِلكَ السَّنَةِ، وَضَعُوها فِي مُدُنِكُمْ،

`At the end of three years thou dost bring out all the tithe of thine increase in that year, and hast placed within thy gates;

29 ف َيَأتِي الَّلاوِيُّونَ، لأنَّهُمْ لا يَملِكُونَ أرْضاً، كَما يَأتِي اليَتامَى وَالأرامِلُ وَالغُرَباءُ المُقِيمُونَ فِي مُدُنِكُمْ، وَيَأكُلُونَ وَيَشبَعُونَ. فَيُبارِكُكُمُ إلَهُكُمْ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ تَعمَلُونَهُ.

and come in hath the Levite (for he hath no part and inheritance with thee), and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who within thy gates, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, so that Jehovah thy God doth bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou dost.
