1 « حِينَ أشفِي إسْرائِيلَ، سَيَنكَشِفُ إثمُ أفْرايِمَ، وَالشُّرُورُ الَّتِي عُمِلَت فِي السّامِرَةِ. لأنَّهُمْ خَدَعُوا النّاسَ. أتَى السّارِقُ، وَعِصابَةٌ تَسلِبُ فِي الشّارِعِ.

`When I give healing to Israel, Then revealed is the iniquity of Ephraim, And the wickedness of Samaria, For they have wrought falsehood, And a thief doth come in, Stript off hath a troop in the street,

2 ل ا يُفَكِّرُونَ بِالأمرِ مَلِيّاً، وَلَكِنِّي تَذَكَّرتُ كُلَّ شَرِّهِمْ. وَالآنَ عادَت أعمالُهُمْ لِتَمسِكَ بِهِمْ. وَأنا أراهُمْ بِوُضُوحٍ.

And they do not say to their heart, all their evil I have remembered, Now compassed them have their doings, Over-against My face they have been.

3 ي ُسعِدُونَ المَلِكَ بِشَرِّهِمْ، وَبِكَذِبِهِمْ يُفَرِّحُونَ الرُّؤَساءَ.

With their wickedness they make glad a king, And with their lies -- princes.

4 ك ُلُّهُمْ زُناةٌ. إنَّهُمْ مِثلُ فُرنٍ مَحَمىً، لا يَحْتاجُ الخَبّازُ أن يَنشَغِلَ بِإحمائِهِ مُنْذُ العَجِينِ وَحَتَّى نُضُوجِ الخُبزِ.

All of them adulterers, Like a burning oven of a baker, He ceaseth from stirring up after kneading the dough, till its leavening.

5 س َبَّبُوا المَرَضَ للِمَلِكِ خِلالَ النَّهارِ، وَللِرُؤَساءِ مِنْ حَرارَةِ الخَمرِ. وَالمَلِكُ يَنْضَمُّ إلَى الَّذِينَ يَستَهزِئُونَ بِاللهِ.

A day of our king! Princes have polluted themselves the poison of wine, He hath drawn out his hand with scorners.

6 إ نَّهُمْ يَشتَعِلُونَ كَنارٍ، قُلُوبُهُمْ تَشتَعِلُ فِيهِمْ. يَنامُ غَضَبُهُمْ طَوالَ اللَّيلِ، لَكِن فِي الصَّباحِ يَشتَعِلُ كَالنّارِ المُلتَهِبَةِ.

For they have drawn near, As an oven their heart, In their lying in wait all the night sleep doth their baker, Morning! he is burning as a flaming fire.

7 ك ُلُّهُمْ حامُونَ كَالفُرنِ وَيُفسِدُونَ قُضاتَهُمْ. كُلُّ مُلُوكِهِمْ يَسقُطُونَ، وَلا أحَدَ مِنهُمْ يَدعُونَنِي. جَهلُ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ لِدَمارِهِمِ الوَشِيك

All of them are warm as an oven, And they have devoured their judges, All their kings have fallen, There is none calling unto Me among them.

8 « أفْرايِمُ مُختَلِطٌ بِالأُمَمِ. أفْرايِمُ كَعكَةٌ احْتَرَقَ أحَدُ جانِبَيها لأنَّها لَمْ تُقلَبْ فِي الفُرنِ.

Ephraim! among peoples he mixeth himself, Ephraim hath been a cake unturned.

9 ي َأكُلُ الغُرَباءُ قُوَّتَهُ دُونَ أن يَعرِفَ. العَفَنُ مَرْشُوشٌ عَلِيهِ وَهُوَ لا يَعرِفُ.

Devoured have strangers his power, And he hath not known, Also old age hath sprinkled on him, And he hath not known.

10 س َيَشهَدُ كِبرِياءُ إسْرائِيلَ ضِدَّهُ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَن يَرجِعُوا إلَى إلَهِهِمْ ، وَلَن يَطلُبُوهُ حَتَّى حِينَ يَعرِفُونَ كُلَّ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ.

And humbled hath been the excellency of Israel to his face, And they have not turned back unto Jehovah their God, Nor have they sought Him for all this.

11 أ فْرايِمُ مِثلُ حَمامَةٍ طائِشَةٍ لا تُفَكِّرُ. يَدعُونَ مِصرَ لأجلِ الحُصُولِ عَلَى العَونِ، وَيَذهَبُونَ إلَى أشُّورَ لأجلِ الحُصُولِ عَلَى المُساعَدَةِ.»

And Ephraim is as a simple dove without heart, Egypt they called on -- Asshur they have gone.

12 ي َقُولُ اللهُ: «حَيثُما ذَهَبُوا سَأبسِطُ شَبَكَةً عَلَيهِمْ. سَوفَ أُوقِعُهُمْ بِالفَخِّ كَما يُوقَعُ بِالطُّيُورِ. سَأُعاقِبُهُمْ عَلَى كُلِّ المَرّاتِ الَّتِي استَعانُوا فِيها بِالأُمَمِ الأُخرَى بَدَلاً مِنِّي.

When they go I spread over them My net, As the fowl of the heavens I bring them down, I chastise them as their company hath heard.

13 ف َليَستَعِدُّوا لِلمُعاناةِ، لأنَّهُمْ ضَلُّوا عَنِّي. سَيُعانُونَ مِنَ الضِّيقِ لأنَّهُمْ أخطَأُوا إلَيَّ. أنا أفدِيهُمْ، وَأمّا هُمْ فَيَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِالكَذِبِ عَنِّي.

Wo to them, for they wandered from Me, Destruction to them, for they transgressed against Me, And I -- I ransom them, and they have spoken lies against Me,

14 ل ا يَصرُخُونَ إلَيَ مِنْ كُلِّ قُلُوبِهِمْ. سَيَنُوحُونَ عَلَى أسِرَّتِهِمْ. يَذهَبُونَ إلَى البَعلِ لأجلِ قَمحِهِمْ وَنَبيذِهِمُ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يَبتَعِدُونَ عَنِّي.

And have not cried unto Me with their heart, but howl on their beds, For corn and new wine they assemble themselves, They turn aside against Me.

15 م َعَ أنِّي دَرَّبتُهُمْ، وَقَوَّيْتُ أيدِيهِمْ، إلّا أنَّهُمْ تَآمَرُوا بِالشَّرِّ عَلَيَّ.

And I instructed -- I strengthened their arms, And concerning Me they think evil!

16 ا لتَفَتُوا إلَى عِبادَةِ ما لَيسَ إلَهاً. كانُوا مِثلَ القَوسِ المُنحَرِفِ. سَقَطَ رُؤَساءُهُمْ بِالسَّيفِ، بِسَبَبِ غَضَبِ الَّذِينَ استَهزَأوا بِهِمْ، حِينَ كانُوا فِي أرْضِ مِصرَ.

They turn back -- not to the Most High, They have been as a deceitful bow, Fall by sword do their princes, From the insolence of their tongue, This their derision in the land of Egypt!
