1 ل َيسَتْ يَدُ اللهِ قاصِرَةً عَنْ أنْ تُخَلِّصَكُمْ! وَلا هُوَ أصَمُّ، بَلْ يَسمَعُ.

Lo, the hand of Jehovah Hath not been shortened from saving, Nor heavy his ear from hearing.

2 ل َكِنَّ آثامَكُمْ تَفصِلُكُمْ عَنْ إلَهِكُمْ. خَطاياكُمْ جَعَلَتهُ يَستُرُ وَجهَهُ عَنكُمْ حَتَّى لا يَسمَعَكُمْ.

But your iniquities have been separating Between you and your God, And your sins have hidden The Presence from you -- from hearing.

3 ل أنَّ أيدِيَكُمْ مُلَطَّخَةٌ بِالدَّمِ، وَأصابِعَكُمْ بِالإثمِ. شِفاهُكُمْ تَتَكَلَّمُ بِالكَذِبِ، وَلِسانُكُمْ يَنطُقُ بِالشَّرِّ.

For your hands have been polluted with blood, And your fingers with iniquity, Your lips have spoken falsehood, Your tongue perverseness doth mutter.

4 ل ا أحَدَ يَصْدُقُ عِنْدَ اتِّهامِهِ لِلآخَرِينَ، وَلا أحَدَ يُحاكِمُ بِالعَدلِ. كُلُّهُمْ يَعتَمِدُونَ عَلَى الكَلامِ الفارِغِ وَالكَذِبِ. يَصنَعُونَ الألَمَ، وَيُنتِجُونَ الشَّرَّ.

There is none calling in righteousness, And there is none pleading in faithfulness, Trusting on emptiness, and speaking falsehood, Conceiving perverseness, and bearing iniquity.

5 ي َفقِسُونَ بَيضَ الأفاعِي، وَيَنسِجُونَ شَبَكَةَ عَنكَبُوتٍ. مَنْ يَأكُلُ مِنْ بَيضِهِمْ يَمُوتُ، وَالبَيضَةُ الَّتِي تُكسَرُ تَفقِسُ حَيَّةً سامَّةً.

Eggs of a viper they have hatched, And webs of a spider they weave, Whoso is eating their eggs doth die, And the crushed hatcheth a viper.

6 خ ُيُوطُهُمْ لا تَصلُحُ لِنَسْجِ الثِّيابِ، وَلا يَستَطِيعُونَ سَتْرَ أنفُسِهِمْ بِما يَصنَعُونَ. أعْمالُهمْ أعْمالُ إثمٍ، وَأيدِيهُمْ مَليئَةٌ بِالعُنفِ.

Their webs become not a garment, Nor do they cover themselves with their works, Their works works of iniquity, And a deed of violence in their hands.

7 ي َركُضُونَ إلَى عَمَلِ الشَّرِّ، وَيُسرِعُونَ إلَى قَتلِ الأبرِياءِ. أفكارُهُمْ شِرِّيرَةٌ، وَيَترُكُونَ وَراءَهُمُ الخَرابَ وَالدَّمارَ.

Their feet to evil do run, And they haste to shed innocent blood, Their thoughts thoughts of iniquity, Spoiling and destruction in their highways.

8 أ مّا طَرِيقُ السَّلامِ فَلا يَعرِفُونَهُ، وَلَيسَ فِي مَسالِكِهِمْ عَدلٌ. طُرُقُهُمْ عَوجاءَ، وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَسِيرُ فِيها لَنْ يَعرِفَ السَّلامَ. خَطِيَّةُ إسْرائِيلَ وَنَتِيجَتُها

A way of peace they have not known, And there is no judgment in their paths, Their paths they have made perverse for themselves, No treader in it hath known peace.

9 ل ِذَلِكَ تَرَكَنا العَدلُ، وَالإنصافُ لا يَأتِي إلَينا. نَرجُو النُّورَ، وَلَو شُعاعَ نُورٍ فِي العَتمَةِ، لَكِنَّ طَرِيقَنا يَلُفُّهُ الظَّلامُ.

Therefore hath judgment been far from us, And righteousness reacheth us not, We wait for light, and lo, darkness, For brightness -- in thick darkness we go,

10 ن َتَحَسَّسُ الحائِطَ كَالعِميانِ، نَتَلَمَّسُ طَرِيقَنا كَمَنْ لا عُيُونَ لَهُمْ. نَتَعَثَّرُ فِي الظَّهِيرَةِ كَما لَو كُنّا فِي العَتمَةِ. صِرنا كالمَوتَى مَعَ أنَّنا بَينَ الأحياءِ.

We feel like the blind the wall, Yea, as without eyes we feel, We have stumbled at noon as at twilight, In desolate places as the dead.

11 ك ُلُّنا نَخُورُ كَدُبَّةٍ، وَنَنُوحُ نُواحاً كَالحَمامِ. نَنتَظِرُ العَدلَ وَلَكِنَّهُ لا يَتَحَقَّقُ، وَنَنتَظِرُ الخَلاصَ، وَلَكِنَّهُ بَعِيدٌ عَنّا.

We make a noise as bears -- all of us, And as doves we coo sorely; We wait for judgment, and there is none, For salvation -- it hath been far from us.

12 ل أنَّ أعمالَنا البَشِعَةَ أمامَكَ كَثِيرَةٌ، وَخَطايانا تَشهَدُ عَلَينا. لأنَّ أعمالَنا البَشِعَةَ تُرافِقُنا، وَنَحنُ نَعرِفُ آثامَنا.

For our transgressions have been multiplied before Thee, And our sins have testified against us, For our transgressions with us, And our iniquities -- we have known them.

13 ع َصَينا اللهَ ، وَكُنّا غَيرَ أُمَناءَ نَحوَهُ. ابتَعَدْنا عَنْ إلَهِنا. كُنّا نَتَكَلَّمُ عَنِ الظُّلمِ وَالعِصيانِ، وَنَتَكَلَّمُ بِكَلِماتٍ كاذِبَةٍ مِنْ قُلُوبِنا.

Transgressing, and lying against Jehovah, And removing from after our God, Speaking oppression and apostacy, Conceiving and uttering from the heart Words of falsehood.

14 ا بتَعَدَ العَدلُ، وَالحَقُّ وَقَفَ بَعِيداً. لأنَّ الحَقَّ يَتَعَثَّرُ فِي السّاحاتِ العامَّةِ، وَالصِّدقَ لا يَستَطِيعُ دُخُولَ المَدِينَةِ.

And removed backward is judgment, And righteousness afar off standeth, For truth hath been feeble in the street, And straightforwardness is not able to enter,

15 ز الَتِ الأمانَةُ، وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَبتَعِدُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ يُسلَبُ. رَأى اللهُ هَذا وَلَمْ يُسَرَّ، إذْ لا تُوجَدُ عَدالَةٌ.

And the truth is lacking, And whoso is turning aside from evil, Is making himself a spoil. And Jehovah seeth, and it is evil in His eyes, That there is no judgment.

16 ر َأى أنَّهُ لا يُوجَدُ أحَدٌ، وَتَحَيَّرَ لأنَّهُ ما مِنْ أحَدٍ يَقِفُ لِيُدافِعَ عَنِ الشَّعبِ. فَنَصَرَتْهُ ذِراعُهُ، وَأيَّدَهُ بِرُّهُ.

And He seeth that there is no man, And is astonished that there is no intercessor, And His own arm giveth salvation to Him, And His righteousness -- it sustained Him.

17 ل َبِسَ البِرَّ كَدِرعٍ، وَخُوذَةُ الخَلاصِ عَلَى رَأسِهِ. لَبِسَ الانتِقامَ كَثِيابٍ، وَاكتَسَى بِالغَيرَةِ كَعَباءَةٍ.

And He putteth on righteousness as a breastplate, And an helmet of salvation on His head, And He putteth on garments of vengeance clothing, And is covered, as an upper-robe, zeal.

18 س َيُجازِي أعداءَهُ كَما يَستَحِقُّونَ: غَضَباً عَلَى خُصُومِهِ، وَعِقاباً عَلَى أعْدائِهِ. سَيُجازِي الجُزُرَ وَالشَّواطِئَ حَسَبَ ما تَستَحِقُّ.

According to deeds -- so He repayeth. Fury to His adversaries, deed to His enemies, To the isles deed He repayeth.

19 س َيَخشَى الَّذِينَ فِي الغَربِ اسْمَ اللهِ ، وَالَّذِينَ فِي الشَّرقِ سَيَخافُونَ مَجدَهُ. لأنَّ العَدُوَّ سَيَأتِي كَنَهرٍ، وَلَكِنَّ قُوَّةَ اللهِ تَدفَعُهُ.

And they fear from the west the name of Jehovah, And from the rising of the sun -- His honour, When come in as a flood doth an adversary, The Spirit of Jehovah hath raised an ensign against him.

20 ف َهُوَ سَيَأتِي فادِياً لِصِهْيَوْنَ لِجَمِيعِ التَّائِبِينَ فِي عائِلَةِ يَعقُوبَ، يَقُولُ اللهُ.

And come to Zion hath a redeemer, Even to captives of transgression in Jacob, An affirmation of Jehovah.

21 ي َقُولُ اللهُ: «هَذا هُوَ عَهدِي مَعَهُمْ: رُوحِي الَّذِي جَعَلْتُهُ عَلَيكَ، وَكَلامِي الَّذِي وَضَعتُهُ فِي فَمِكَ، لَنْ يَبتَعِدا عَنكَ وَلا عَنْ أولادِكَ وَلا عَنْ أحفادِكَ مِنَ الآنَ وَإلَى الأبَدِ.»

And I -- this My covenant with them, said Jehovah, My Spirit that on thee, And My words that I have put in thy mouth, Depart not from thy mouth, And from the mouth of thy seed, And from the mouth of thy seed's seed, said Jehovah, From henceforth unto the age!
