1 و َبَعدَ الوَبَاءِ الشَّديدِ، قالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى وَألِيعازارَ بْنِ هارُونَ الكاهِنِ:

And it cometh to pass, after the plague, that Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, and unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying,

2 « أحصِيا كُلَّ بَني إسْرائِيلَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ كُلَّ الرِّجالِ مِنْ سِنِّ عِشرِينَ سَنَةً فَما فَوْقُ، الَّذِينَ يَستَطِيعُونَ الخِدمَةَ فِي الجَيشِ.»

`Take up the sum of all the company of the sons of Israel, from a son of twenty years and upward, by the house of their fathers, every one going out to the host in Israel.'

3 ف َتَكَلَّمَ مُوسَى وَألِيعازارُ إلَى بَني إسْرائِيلَ فِي سُهُولِ مُوآبَ بِقُربِ نَهرِ الأُردُنِّ إلَى الشَّرقِ مِنْ أرِيحا فِي الجِهَةِ الأُخرَى لِلنَّهرِ فَقالا:

And Moses speaketh -- Eleazar the priest also -- with them, in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, Jericho, saying,

4 « أحْصُوا كُلَّ الرِّجالِ مِنْ سِنِّ عِشرِينَ سَنَةً فَما فَوْقُ، كَما أمَرَ اللهُ مُوسَى وَبَني إسْرائِيلَ حِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ أرْضِ مِصرَ.»

`From a son of twenty years and upward,' as Jehovah hath commanded Moses and the sons of Israel who are coming out from the land of Egypt.

5 ك انَ رَأُوبَيْنُ بِكرَ إسْرائِيلَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ رَأُوبَيْنَ: مِنْ حَنُوكَ عَشِيرَةُ الحَنُوكِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ فَلُّو عَشِيرَةُ الفَلُّوِيِّينَ.

Reuben, first-born of Israel -- sons of Reuben: Hanoch the family of the Hanochite; of Pallu the family of the Palluite;

6 و َمِنْ حَصرُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الحَصرُونِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ كَرمِي عَشِيرَةُ الكَرمِيِّينَ.

of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Carmi the family of the Carmite.

7 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ رَأُوبَيْنَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ ثَلاثَةً وَأربَعِينَ ألفاً وَسَبعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثِينَ.

These families of the Reubenite, and their numbered ones are three and forty thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 و َكانَ لِفَلُّو ابْنٌ هُوَ ألِيآبُ.

And the son of Pallu Eliab;

9 و َأبناءُ ألِيآبُ هُمْ نَمُوئِيلُ وَداثانُ وَأبِيرامُ. وَداثانُ وَأبِيرامُ هُما المَدعُوّانِ مِنَ الشَّعبِ اللَّذانِ تَمَرَّدا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهارُونَ مَعَ أتباعِ قُورَحَ حِينَ تَمَرَّدُوا عَلَى اللهِ.

and the sons of Eliab Nemuel and Dathan and Abiram; this Dathan and Abiram, called ones of the company, who have striven against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, in their striving against Jehovah,

10 إ ذْ فَتَحَتِ الأرْضُ فَمَها وَابتَلَعَتْهُمْ، فَماتُوا مَعَ قُورَحَ وَجَماعَتِهِ. أكَلَتِ النّارُ مِئَتَينِ وَخَمْسِينَ رَجُلاً، فَصارُوا مَثَلاً لِلشَّعبِ.

and the earth openeth her mouth, and swalloweth them and Korah, in the death of the company, in the fire consuming the two hundred and fifty men, and they become a sign;

11 و َأمّا أبناءُ قُورَحَ فَلَمْ يَمُوتُوا.

and the sons of Korah died not.

12 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ شِمعُونَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ نَمُوئِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ النَّمُوئِيلِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ يامِينَ عَشِيرَةُ اليامِنِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ ياكِينَ عَشِيرَةُ الياكِينِيِّينَ.

Sons of Simeon by their families: of Nemuel the family of the Nemuelite; of Jamin the family of the Jaminite; of Jachin the family of the Jachinite;

13 و َمِنْ زارَحَ عَشِيرَةُ الزّارَحِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ شَاوُلَ عَشِيرَةُ الشَّؤُولِيِّينَ.

of Zerah the family of the Zarhite; of Shaul the family of the Shaulite.

14 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ شِمعُونَ: اثْنانِ وَعِشرُونَ ألفاً وَمِئَتانِ.

These families of the Simeonite, two and twenty thousand and two hundred.

15 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ جادَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ صِفُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الصِّفُونِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ حَجِّي عَشِيرَةُ الحَجِّيِّينَ. وَمِنْ شُونِي عَشِيرَةُ الشُّونِيِّينَ.

Sons of Gad by their families: of Zephon the family of the Zephonite; of Haggi the family of the Haggite; of Shuni the family of the Shunite;

16 و َمِنْ أُزنِي عَشِيرَةُ الأُزنِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ عِيرِي عَشِيرَةُ العِيرّيِّينَ.

of Ozni the family of the Oznite; of Eri the family of the Erite:

17 و َمِنْ أرُودَ عَشِيرَةُ الأرُودِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ أرئِيلِي عَشِيرَةُ الأرئِيلِيِّينَ.

of Arod the family of the Arodite; of Areli the family of the Arelite.

18 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ جادَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ أربَعِينَ ألفاً وَخَمسَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of the sons of Gad, by their numbered ones, forty thousand and five hundred.

19 و َكانَ عِيرُ وَأُونانُ ابنَينِ لِيَهُوذا، وَقَدْ ماتا فِي أرْضِ كَنعانَ.

Sons of Judah Er and Onan; and Er dieth -- Onan also -- in the land of Canaan.

20 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ يَهُوذا بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ شِيلَةَ عَشِيرَةُ الشِّيلِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ فارَصَ عَشِيرَةُ الفارَصِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ زارَحَ عَشِيرَةُ الزّارْحِيِّينَ.

And sons of Judah, by their families, are: of Shelah the family of the Shelanite; of Pharez the family of the Pharzite; of Zerah the family of the Zarhite;

21 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ فارَصَ: مِنْ حَصرُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الحَصرُونِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ حامُولَ عَشِيرَةُ الحامُولِيِّينَ.

and sons of Pharez are: of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Hamul the family of the Hamulite.

22 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ يَهُوذا. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ سِتَّةً وَعِشرِينَ ألفاً وَخَمسَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of Judah, by their numbered ones, six and seventy thousand and five hundred.

23 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ يَسّاكَرَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ تُولاعَ عَشِيرَةُ التُّولاعِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ فُوَّةَ عَشِيرَةُ الفُوِّيِّينَ.

Sons of Issachar by their families; Tola the family of the Tolaite; of Pua the family of the Punite;

24 و َمِنْ ياشُوبَ عَشِيرَةُ الياشُوبِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ شِمرُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الشِّمرُونِيِّينَ.

of Jashub the family of the Jashubite; of Shimron the family of the Shimronite.

25 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ يَسّاكَرَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ أربَعَةً وَسِتِّينَ ألفاً وَثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of Issachar, by their numbered ones, four and sixty thousand and three hundred.

26 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ زَبُولُونَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ سارَدَ عَشِيرَةُ السّارَدِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ إيلُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الإيلُونِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ ياحِلْئِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ الياحِلْئِيِّينَ.

Sons of Zebulun by their families: of Sered the family of the Sardite; of Elon the family of the Elonite; of Jahleel the family of the Jahleelite.

27 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ زَبُولُونَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ سِتِّينَ ألفاً وَخَمسَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of the Zebulunite by their numbered ones, sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 و َكانَ مَنَسَّى وَأفرايِمُ ابْنَي يُوسُفَ.

Sons of Joseph by their families Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ مَنَسَّى بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ ماكِيرَ عَشِيرَةُ الماكِيرِيِّينَ. وَكانَ ماكِيرُ أبا جِلْعادَ. وَمِنْ جِلْعادَ عَشِيرَةُ الجِلْعادِيِّينَ.

Sons of Manasseh: of Machir the family of the Machirite; and Machir hath begotten Gilead; of Gilead the family of the Gileadite.

30 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ جِلْعادَ: مِنْ إيعَزَرَ عَشِيرَةُ الإيعَزَرَيِّينَ. وَمِنْ حالَقَ عَشِيرَةُ الحالَقِيِّينَ.

These sons of Gilead: Jeezer the family of the Jeezerite; of Helek the family of the Helekite;

31 و َمِنْ إسْرائِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ الإسْرائِيلِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ شَكَمَ عَشِيرَةُ الشَّكمِيِّينَ.

and Asriel the family of the Asrielite; and Shechem the family of the Shechemite;

32 و َمِنْ شَمِيداعَ عَشِيرَةُ الشَّمِيداعِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ حافَرَ عَشِيرَةُ الحافَرِيِّينَ.

and Shemida the family of the Shemidaite; and Hepher the family of the Hepherite.

33 و َكانَ صَلُفْحادُ ابناً لِحافَرَ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ أبناءٌ ذُكُورٌ، لَكِنْ كانَتْ لَهُ بَناتٌ. وَأسْماءُ بَناتِ صَلُفْحادَ مَحلَةُ وَنُوعَةُ وَحُجلَةُ وَمِلْكَةُ وَتِرْصَةُ.

And Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons but daughters, and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

34 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ مَنَسَّى. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ اثْنَينِ وَخَمْسِينَ ألفاً وَسَبعَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of Manasseh, and their numbered ones two and fifty thousand and seven hundred.

35 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ أفْرايِمَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ شُوتالَحَ عَشِيرَةَ الشُّوتالِيحِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ باكِرَ عَشِيرَةَ الباكرِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ تاحَنَ عَشِيرَةُ التّاحَنِيِّينَ.

These sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah the family of the Shuthelhite; of Becher the family of the Bachrite; of Tahan the family of the Tahanite.

36 و َكانَ عِيرانُ مِنْ عَشيرَةِ شُوتالَحَ. وَمِنْ عِيرانَ عَشِيرَةُ العِيرانِيِّينَ.

And these sons of Shuthelah: of Eran the family of the Eranite.

37 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ أفْرايِمَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ اثْنَينِ وَثَلاثِينَ ألْفاً وَخَمْسَ مِئَةٍ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ يُوسُفَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ.

These families of the sons of Ephraim, by their numbered ones, two and thirty thousand and five hundred. These sons of Joseph by their families.

38 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ بَنْيامِيْنَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ بالَعَ عَشِيرَةُ البالَعِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ أشبِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ الأشبِيلِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ أحِيرامَ عَشِيرَةُ الأحِيرامِيِّينَ.

Sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela the family of the Belaite; of Ashbel the family of the Ashbelite; of Ahiram the family of the Ahiramite;

39 و َمِنْ شَفُوفامَ عَشِيرَةُ الشَّفُوفامِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ حُوفامَ عَشِيرَةُ الحُوفامِيِّينَ.

of Shupham the family of the Shuphamite; of Hupham the family of the Huphamite.

40 و َكانَ أرْدُ وَنُعْمانُ ابْنَي بالَعَ. وَمِنْ أرْدَ عَشِيرَةُ الأردِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ نُعمانَ عَشِيرَةُ النُّعمانِيِّينَ.

And sons of Bela are Ard and Naaman: the family of the Ardite: of Naaman the family of the Naamite.

41 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ بَنْيامِيْنَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ خَمسَةً وَأربَعِينَ ألفاً وَسِتَّ مِئَةٍ.

These sons of Benjamin by their families, and their numbered ones five and forty thousand and six hundred.

42 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ دانَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ شُوحامَ عَشِيرَةُ الشُّوحامِيِّينَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ دانَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ.

These sons of Dan by their families: of Shuham the family of the Shuhamite; these families of Dan by their families;

43 و َكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ أربَعَةً وَسِتِّينَ ألفاً وَأربَعَ مِئَةٍ.

all the families of the Shuhamite, by their numbered ones, four and sixty thousand and four hundred.

44 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ أشِيرَ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ يِمْنَةَ عَشِيرَةُ اليِمْنِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ يِشْوِي عَشِيرَةُ اليِشْوِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ بَرِيعَةَ عَشِيرَةُ البَرِيعِيِّينَ.

Sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna the family of the Jimnite; of Jesui the family of the Jesuite; of Beriah the family of the Beriite.

45 و َنَسلُ بَرِيعَةَ هُمْ: مِنْ حابِرَ عَشِيرَةُ الحابِرِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ مَلْكِيئِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ المَلْكِيئِيلِيِّينَ.

Of sons of Beriah: of Heber the family of the Heberite; of Malchiel the family of the Malchielite.

46 و َكانَتْ لأشِيرَ ابْنَةٌ اسْمُها سارَحُ.

And the name of the daughter of Asher Sarah.

47 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ أشِيرَ. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ ثَلاثَةً وَخَمْسِينَ ألفاً وَأربَعَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of the sons of Asher, by their numbered ones, three and fifty thousand and four hundred.

48 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ نَسلُ نَفتالِي بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ ياحَصْئِيلَ عَشِيرَةُ الياحَصْئِيلِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ جُونِي عَشِيرَةُ الجُونِيِّينَ.

Sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel the family of the Jahzeelite; of Guni the family of the Gunite;

49 و َمِنْ يَصَرَ عَشِيرَةُ الِيَصَرِيِّينَ. وَمِنْ شِلِّيمَ عَشِيرَةُ الشِّلِّيمِيِّينَ.

of Jezer the family of the Jezerite; of Shillem the family of the Shillemite.

50 ه َذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ نَفتالِي. وَكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ خَمسَةً وَأربَعِينَ ألفاً وَأربَعَ مِئَةٍ.

These families of Naphtali by their families, and their numbered ones five and forty thousand and four hundred.

51 ف َكانَ بِذَلِكَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ مِنْ بَني إسْرائِيلَ سِتَّ مِئَةِ ألفٍ وَألْفاً وَسَبعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثِينَ.

These numbered ones of the sons of Israel, six hundred thousand, and a thousand, seven hundred and thirty.

52 و َقالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

53 « سَتُقَسَّمُ الأرْضُ بَينَ هَؤُلاءِ بِحَسَبِ عَدَدِ أسمائِهِمْ.

`To these is the land apportioned by inheritance, by the number of names;

54 ل ِلمَجمُوعَةِ الكَبِيرَةِ أعطِ حِصَّةً كَبِيرَةً، وَلِلمَجمُوعَةِ الصَّغِيرَةِ أعطِ حِصَّةً صَغِيرَةً. فَلتَتَناسَبِ الحِصَصُ مَعَ عَدَدِ المُسَجَّلِينَ مِنْ كُلِّ مَجمُوعَةٍ.

to the many thou dost increase their inheritance, and to the few thou dost diminish their inheritance; each according to his numbered ones is given his inheritance.

55 ل َكِنَّ مَوقِعَ الأرْضِ يَتِمُّ تَعيِينُهُ بِالقُرعَةِ، فَسَيَمتَلِكُونَ الأرْضَ بِحَسَبِ أسْماءِ آباءِ قَبائِلِهِمْ.

`Only by lot is the land apportioned, by the names of the tribes of their fathers they inherit;

56 و َسَيَتِمُّ تَعيِينُ حِصَّةِ كُلِّ عَشِيرَةٍ بِإلقاءِ القُرْعَةِ، سَواءٌ أكانَتْ حِصَّةً كَبِيرَةً أمْ صَغِيرَةً.»

according to the lot is their inheritance apportioned between many and few.'

57 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمُ اللّاوِيُّونَ الَّذِينَ تَمَّ إحصاؤُهُمْ بِحَسَبِ عَشائِرِهِمْ: مِنْ جَرشُونَ عَشِيرَةُ الجَرشُونِيِّينَ. مِنْ قَهاتَ عَشِيرَةُ القَهاتِيِّينَ. مِنْ مَرارِي عَشِيرَةُ المَرارِيِّينَ.

And these numbered ones of the Levite by their families: of Gershon the family of the Gershonite; of Kohath the family of the Kohathite; of Merari the family of the Merarite.

58 و َهَذِهِ هِيَ عَشائِرُ لاوِي: عَشِيرَةُ اللِّبْنِيِّينَ، وَعَشِيرَةُ الحَبرُونِيِّينَ، وَعَشِيرَةُ المَحلِيِّينَ، وَعَشِيرَةُ المُوشِيِّينَ، وَعَشِيرَةُ القُورَحِيِّينَ. وَكانَ قَهاتُ وَالِدَ عَمرامَ.

These families of the Levite: the family of the Libnite, the family of the Hebronite, the family of the Mahlite, the family of the Mushite, the family of the Korathite. And Kohath hath begotten Amram,

59 و َكانَ اسْمُ زَوجَةِ عَمْرامَ يُوكابَدَ. وَهِيَ مِنْ نَسلِ لاوِي، وُلِدَتْ لَهُ فِي مِصرَ. وَوَلَدَتْ يُوكابَدُ لِعَمْرامَ هارُونَ وَمُوسَى وَأُختَهُما مَريَمُ.

and the name of Amram's wife is Jochebed, daughter of Levi, whom hath born to Levi in Egypt; and she beareth to Amram Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

60 و َكانَ نادابُ وَأبِيهُو وَألِيعازارُ وَإيثامارُ أبناءَ هارُونَ.

And born to Aaron Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar;

61 و َماتَ نادابُ وَأبِيهُو حِينَ قَدَّما ناراً غَيرَ مَسمُوحٍ بِها فِي حَضْرَةِ اللهِ.

and Nadab dieth -- Abihu also -- in their bringing near strange fire before Jehovah.

62 و َكانَ عَدَدُ المُسَجَّلِينَ مِنَ اللّاوِيِّينَ، أي كُلُّ الذُّكُورِ مِنْ سِنِّ شَهرٍ فَما فَوْقُ، ثَلاثَةً وَعِشرِينَ ألفاً. وَلَمْ يَتِمَّ إحصاءُ اللّاوِيِّينَ مَعَ بَقِيَّةِ بَني إسْرائِيلَ، لأنَّهُمْ لَمْ يُعطَوا حِصَّةً مِنَ الأرْضِ مَعَ بَقِيَّةِ بَني إسْرائِيلَ.

And their numbered ones are three and twenty thousand, every male from a son of a month and upwards, for they have not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel; for an inheritance hath not been given to them in the midst of the sons of Israel.

63 ه َؤُلاءِ هُمُ الرِّجالُ الَّذِينَ أحصاهُمْ مُوسَى وَألِيعازارُ الكاهِنُ، حِينَ أحصَيا بَني إسْرائِيلَ فِي سُهُولِ مُوآبَ بِجانِبِ نَهرِ الأُردُنِّ، إلَى الشَّرقِ مِنْ أرِيحا مِنَ الجِهَةِ الأُخرَى لِلنَّهرِ.

These those numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who have numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, Jericho;

64 و َمِنْ بَينِ هَؤُلاءِ، لَمْ يَكُنْ هُناكَ أيُّ واحِدٍ مِمَّنْ أحصاهُمْ مُوسَى وَهارُونُ حِينَ أحصَيا بَني إسْرائِيلَ فِي بَرِّيَّةِ سِيناءَ.

and among these there hath not been a man of those numbered by Moses, and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai,

65 ف َاللهُ قالَ بِشَأنِهِمْ: «سَيَمُوتُونَ فِي الصَّحْراءِ.» فَلَمْ يَبقَ أحَدٌ مِنهُمْ حَيّاً سِوَى كالِبَ بْنَ يَفُنَّةَ وَيَشُوعَ بْنَ نُونَ.

for Jehovah said of them, `They do certainly die in the wilderness;' and there hath not been left of them a man save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.
