1 م ِنْ بُولُسَ الَّذِي شاءَ اللهُ فَدَعاهُ لِيَكُونَ رَسُولاً لِلمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، وَمِنْ أخِينا سُسْتانِيسَ

Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

2 إ لَى أعضاءِ كَنِيسَةِ اللهِ فِي مَدِينَةِ كُورِنثُوسَ المُقَدَّسينَ فِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، وَالمَدعُوِّيْنَ مِنَ اللهِ لِيَكُونُوا شَعبَهُ المُقَدَّسَ، وَإلَى كُلِّ الَّذِينَ يَدعُونَ بِاسْمِ رَبِّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ، رَبِّهِمْ وَرَبِّنا، أينَما كانُوا.

to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place -- both theirs and ours:

3 ل ِتَكُنْ لَكُمْ نِعمَةٌ وَسَلامٌ مِنَ اللهِ أبِينا وَمِنْ رَبِّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ. بُولُسُ يَشكُرُ الله

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

4 أ شكُرُ إلَهِي دائِماً مِنْ أجلِكُمْ، بِسَبَبِ نِعمَةِ اللهِ المَوهُوبَةِ لَكُمْ فِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ.

I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

5 ف َأنتُمْ صِرتُمْ فِي المَسِيحِ أغنِياءَ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ: فِي كُلِّ كَلامٍ وَفِي كُلِّ مَعرِفَةٍ.

that in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

6 و َهَذا يَعنِي أنَّ شَهادَتَنا لَكُمْ عَنِ المَسِيحِ قَدْ تَثَبَّتَتْ بَينَكُمْ.

according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 ل ِذَلِكَ لا تَنقُصُكُمْ أيَّةُ مَوهِبَةٍ رُوحِيَّةٍ، وَأنتُمْ تَنْتَظُرُونَ أنْ يُعلَنَ رَبُّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحُ فِي مَجِيئِهِ.

so that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 و َهُوَ الَّذِي سَيُثَبِّتُكُمْ أيضاً حَتَّى النِّهايَةِ غَيْرَ مَلُومِينَ فِي يَومِ رَبِّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ.

who also shall confirm you unto the end -- unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 ف َأمِينٌ هُوَ اللهُ الَّذِي دَعاكُمْ إلَى الشَّرِكَةِ مَعَ ابنِهِ يَسُوعَ المِسِيحِ رَبِّنا. مَشاكِلُ فِي كَنِيسَةِ كُورِنثُوس

faithful God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 ل َكِنِّي أرجُوكُمْ أيُّها الإخوَةُ بِاسْمِ رَبِّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ أنْ تَتَّفِقوا جَمِيعاً فِي الرَّأيِ، فَلا يَكُونَ لِلانقِساماتِ مَكانٌ بَينَكُمْ، بَلْ أنْ تَتَّحِدُوا فِي فِكرٍ واحِدٍ وَهَدَفٍ واحِدٍ.

And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

11 ف َقَدْ وَصَلَتنِي يا إخْوَتِي أخبارٌ عَنكُمْ عَنْ طَرِيقِ عائِلَةِ خُلُوِي، تَقُولُ إنَّ بَينَكُمْ مُشاجَراتٌ.

for it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

12 و َما أعنِيهِ هُوَ أنَّ أحَدَكُمْ يَقُولُ: «أنا أتْبَعُ بُولُسَ.» وَيَقُولُ آخَرُ: «أنا أتْبَعُ أبُلُّوسَ،» وَآخَرُ: «أنا أتْبَعُ بُطرُسَ،» بَينَما يَقُولُ آخَرُونَ: «أمّا أنا فَأتْبَعُ المَسِيحَ.»

and I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul' -- `and I of Apollos,' -- `and I of Cephas,' -- `and I of Christ.'

13 ف َهَلِ المَسِيحُ مُنقَسِمٌ؟ ألَعَلَّ بُولُسَ هُوَ الَّذِي صُلِبَ لِأجلِكُمْ؟ أمْ تَعَمَّدتُمْ بِاسْمِ بُولُسَ؟

Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

14 أ شكُرُ اللهَ لِأنِّي لَمْ أُعَمِّدْ مِنكُمْ إلّا كِرِيسْبُوسَ وَغايِسَ،

I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius --

15 ل ِئَلّا يَقُولُ أحَدُكُمْ إنَّكُمْ تَعَمَّدْتُمْ باسْمِي!

that no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;

16 و َقَدْ عَمَّدتُ بَيتَ استِفاناسَ أيضاً. أمّا بِالنِّسبَةِ لِبَقِيَّتِكُمْ، فَلا أذكُرُ إنْ كُنتُ قَدْ عَمَّدتُ أحَداً آخَرَ مِنكُمْ.

and I did baptize also Stephanas' household -- further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.

17 إ ذْ لَمْ يُرسِلْنِي المَسِيحُ لِأُعَمِّدَ، بَلْ لِأُعلِنَ البِشارَةَ. غَيرَ مُعتَمِدٍ فِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى بَراعَةٍ فِي الكَلامِ. لِأنِّي لَوِ اعتَمَدْتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، سَيُفرَغُ صَلِيبُ المِسِيحِ مِنْ قُوَّتِهِ. المَسِيحُ قُوَّةُ اللهِ وَحِكمَتُه

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but -- to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;

18 ف َبِشارَةُ الصَّلِيبِ حَماقَةٌ فِي نَظَرِ الهالِكِينَ، لَكِنَّها قُوَّةُ اللهِ فِي نَظَرِ الَّذِينَ يُخَلَّصُونَ.

for the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us -- those being saved -- it is the power of God,

19 ف َالكِتابُ يَقُولُ: «سَأقضِي عَلَى حِكمَةِ الحُكَماءِ، وَأُبْطِلُ ذَكاءَ الأذكِياءَ.»

for it hath been written, `I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'

20 ف َأينَ هُوَ الحَكِيمُ؟ أينَ هُوَ العالِمُ الباحِثُ؟ أينَ هُوَ المُجادِلُ فِي هَذا العَصرِ الزّائِلِ؟ ألَمْ يَجعَلِ اللهُ حِكمَةَ العالَمِ حَماقَةً؟

where the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 ف َقَدْ شاءَتْ حِكمَةُ اللهِ أنْ يَفشَلَ العالَمُ بِحِكمَتِهِ فِي أنْ يَعرِفَ اللهَ، فَاختارَ اللهُ أنْ يُخَلِّصَ الَّذِينَ يُؤمِنُونَ بِالبِشارَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ حَماقَةٌ فِي نَظَرِ العالَمِ.

for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

22 ف َاليَهُودُ يَطلُبُونَ مُعجِزاتٍ، وَاليُونانِيُّونَ يَطلُبُونَ حِكمَةً،

Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

23 أ مّا نَحنُ فَنُبَشِّرُ بِالمَسِيحِ مَصلُوباً، فَيَرَى اليَهُودُ فِي ذَلِكَ إساءَةً لَهُمْ، وَيَرَى فِيهِ اليُونانِيُّونَ حَماقَةً.

also we -- we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

24 أ مّا بِالنِّسبَةِ إلَى الَّذِينَ دَعاهُمُ اللهُ، يَهُوداً وَيونانِيِّنَ، فَإنَّنا نُبَشِّرُ بِالمَسِيحِ الَّذِي هُوَ قُوَّةُ اللهِ وَحِكمَتُهُ.

and to those called -- both Jews and Greeks -- Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

25 ف َما يَعتَبِرُهُ أُولَئِكَ حَماقَةَ اللهِ، هُوَ أحكَمُ مِنْ حِكمَةِ النّاسِ! وَما يَعتَبِرُونَهُ ضَعفَ اللهِ، هُوَ أقوَى مِنْ قُوَّةِ النّاسِ!

because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

26 أ يُّها الإخوَةُ، انتَبِهُوا إلَى الوَقتِ الَّذِي دَعاكُمُ اللهُ فِيهِ، حِينَ لَمْ يَكُنِ كَثِيرُونَ مِنكُمْ حُكَماءَ حَسَبَ المَقايِيْسِ البَشَرِيَّةِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ كَثِيرُونَ مِنكُمْ أقوِياءَ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ كَثِيرُونَ مِنكُمْ شُرَفاءَ الأصلِ.

for see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

27 ب َلْ إنَّ اللهَ اختارَ ما هُوَ أحمَقُ فِي العالَمِ، لِكَي يُخزِيَ الحُكَماءَ، وَاختارَ ما هُوَ ضَعِيفٌ لِكَي يُخزِيَ ما هُوَ قَوِيٌّ.

but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;

28 ا ختارَ اللهُ ما هُوَ وَضِيعٌ وَمُحتَقَرٌ فِي العالَمِ، وَاخْتارَ «الَّلاشَيءَ» لِكَي يَقضِيَ عَلَى ما هُوَ «شَيءٌ.»

and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --

29 و َذَلِكَ لِكَي لا يَفتَخِرَ أحَدٌ أمامَ اللهِ.

that no flesh may glory before Him;

30 ف َهُوَ مَصدَرُ حَياتِكُمْ فِي المَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، الَّذِي صارَ لَنا مِنَ اللهِ حِكمَةً وَبِرّاً وَقَداسَةً وَفِداءً.

and of Him ye -- ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

31 ف َكَما يَقُولُ الكِتابُ: «إنْ أرادَ أحَدٌ أنْ يَفتَخِرَ، فَلْيَفتَخِرْ بِالرَّبِّ.»

that, according as it hath been written, `He who is glorying -- in the Lord let him glory.'
