1 C uando Yo quería curar a Israel, Se descubrió la iniquidad de Efraín Y las maldades de Samaria, Porque practican el engaño; El ladrón entra, Los bandidos despojan por fuera,

`When I give healing to Israel, Then revealed is the iniquity of Ephraim, And the wickedness of Samaria, For they have wrought falsehood, And a thief doth come in, Stript off hath a troop in the street,

2 Y ellos no consideran en su corazón Que Yo recuerdo toda su maldad. Ahora les rodean sus hechos, Ante Mi rostro están.

And they do not say to their heart, all their evil I have remembered, Now compassed them have their doings, Over-against My face they have been.

3 C on su maldad alegran al rey, Y con sus mentiras a los príncipes.

With their wickedness they make glad a king, And with their lies -- princes.

4 T odos ellos son adúlteros; Son como horno encendido por el hornero, Que deja de atizar el fuego Desde que prepara la masa hasta que fermenta.

All of them adulterers, Like a burning oven of a baker, He ceaseth from stirring up after kneading the dough, till its leavening.

5 E n la fiesta de nuestro rey, los príncipes se enfermaron por el calor del vino; él extendió la mano a los provocadores,

A day of our king! Princes have polluted themselves the poison of wine, He hath drawn out his hand with scorners.

6 P ues sus corazones son como un horno Mientras se acercan a su emboscada; Toda la noche duerme su ira, Por la mañana arde como llamas de fuego.

For they have drawn near, As an oven their heart, In their lying in wait all the night sleep doth their baker, Morning! he is burning as a flaming fire.

7 T odos ellos están calientes como un horno, Y devoran a sus gobernantes; Todos sus reyes han caído. No hay entre ellos quien Me invoque.

All of them are warm as an oven, And they have devoured their judges, All their kings have fallen, There is none calling unto Me among them.

8 E fraín se mezcla con las naciones; Efraín es como una torta no volteada.

Ephraim! among peoples he mixeth himself, Ephraim hath been a cake unturned.

9 D evoran extranjeros su fuerza, Y él no lo sabe; También tiene cabellos canos, Y él no lo sabe.

Devoured have strangers his power, And he hath not known, Also old age hath sprinkled on him, And he hath not known.

10 T estifica contra él el orgullo de Israel, Pero no se han vuelto al Señor su Dios, Ni Lo han buscado a pesar de todo esto.

And humbled hath been the excellency of Israel to his face, And they have not turned back unto Jehovah their God, Nor have they sought Him for all this.

11 E fraín es como paloma incauta, sin entendimiento; Llaman a Egipto, acuden a Asiria.

And Ephraim is as a simple dove without heart, Egypt they called on -- Asshur they have gone.

12 C uando vayan, tenderé sobre ellos Mi red, Como aves del cielo los haré caer; Los castigaré conforme a lo anunciado a su congregación.

When they go I spread over them My net, As the fowl of the heavens I bring them down, I chastise them as their company hath heard.

13 ¡ Ay de ellos, pues de Mí se han alejado! Sobre ellos vendrá la destrucción, porque contra Mí se han rebelado; Yo los redimiría, pero ellos hablan mentiras contra Mí.

Wo to them, for they wandered from Me, Destruction to them, for they transgressed against Me, And I -- I ransom them, and they have spoken lies against Me,

14 Y no claman a Mí de corazón Cuando gimen en sus lechos; Por el trigo y el vino nuevo se reúnen, Y se alejan de Mí.

And have not cried unto Me with their heart, but howl on their beds, For corn and new wine they assemble themselves, They turn aside against Me.

15 A unque Yo adiestré y fortalecí sus brazos, Traman el mal contra Mí.

And I instructed -- I strengthened their arms, And concerning Me they think evil!

16 S e vuelven, pero no hacia lo alto (el Altísimo), Son como un arco engañoso. Sus príncipes caerán a espada Por la insolencia de sus lenguas. Esto será su escarnio en la tierra de Egipto.

They turn back -- not to the Most High, They have been as a deceitful bow, Fall by sword do their princes, From the insolence of their tongue, This their derision in the land of Egypt!
