1 D espués de la muerte de Josué, los Israelitas consultaron al Señor, diciendo: “¿Quién de nosotros subirá primero contra los Cananeos para pelear contra ellos?”

And it cometh to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask at Jehovah, saying, `Who doth go up for us unto the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?'

2 Y el Señor respondió: “Judá subirá primero; ya le he entregado el país en sus manos.”

And Jehovah saith, `Judah doth go up; lo, I have given the land into his hand.'

3 E ntonces Judá dijo a su hermano Simeón: “Sube conmigo al territorio que me ha tocado, para que peleemos contra los Cananeos. Yo también iré contigo al territorio que te ha tocado.” Y Simeón fue con él.

And Judah saith to Simeon his brother, `Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite -- and I have gone, even I, with thee into thy lot;' and Simeon goeth with him.

4 J udá subió, y el Señor entregó en sus manos a los Cananeos y a los Ferezeos, y derrotaron a 10, 000 hombres en Bezec.

And Judah goeth up, and Jehovah giveth the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they smite them in Bezek -- ten thousand men;

5 H allaron a Adoni Bezec en Bezec y pelearon contra él, y derrotaron a los Cananeos y a los Ferezeos.

and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and smite the Canaanite and the Perizzite.

6 A doni Bezec huyó, pero lo persiguieron, lo prendieron y le cortaron los pulgares de las manos y de los pies.

And Adoni-Bezek fleeth, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,

7 Y Adoni Bezec dijo: “Setenta reyes, con los pulgares de sus manos y de sus pies cortados, recogían migajas debajo de mi mesa. Como yo he hecho, así me ha pagado Dios.” Lo llevaron a Jerusalén (Ciudad de Paz), y allí murió. Conquista de Jerusalén

and Adoni-Bezek saith, `Seventy kings -- their thumbs and their great toes cut off -- have been gathering under my table; as I have done so hath God repaid to me;' and they bring him in to Jerusalem, and he dieth there.

8 E ntonces los hijos de Judá pelearon contra Jerusalén y la tomaron, pasaron a filo de espada a sus habitantes y prendieron fuego a la ciudad.

And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and the city they have sent into fire;

9 D espués los hijos de Judá descendieron a pelear contra los Cananeos que vivían en la región montañosa, en el Neguev (región del sur) y en las tierras bajas.

and afterwards have the sons of Judah gone down to fight against the Canaanite, inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;

10 Y Judá marchó contra los Cananeos que habitaban en Hebrón (el nombre de Hebrón antes era Quiriat Arba); e hirieron a Sesai, a Ahimán y a Talmai. Conquista de Otras Ciudades

and Judah goeth unto the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron formerly Kirjath-Arba), and they smite Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 D esde allí Judá fue contra los habitantes de Debir (el nombre de Debir antes era Quiriat Séfer ).

And he goeth thence unto the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir formerly Kirjath-Sepher),

12 E ntonces Caleb dijo: “Al que ataque a Quiriat Séfer y la tome, yo le daré a mi hija Acsa por mujer.”

and Caleb saith, `He who smiteth Kirjath-Sepher -- and hath captured it -- then I have given to him Achsah my daughter for a wife.'

13 Y Otoniel, hijo de Quenaz, hermano menor de Caleb, tomó la ciudad, y Caleb le dio a su hija Acsa por mujer.

And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, doth capture it, and he giveth to him Achsah his daughter for a wife.

14 Y cuando ella llegó, Otoniel la persuadió a que pidiera un campo a su padre. Ella entonces se bajó del asno, y Caleb le dijo: “¿Qué quieres? ”

And it cometh to pass in her coming in, that she persuadeth him to ask from her father the field, and she lighteth from off the ass, and Caleb saith to her, `What -- to thee?'

15 “ Dame una bendición,” le dijo ella, “ya que me has dado la tierra del Neguev, dame también fuentes de agua.” Y Caleb le dio las fuentes de arriba y las fuentes de abajo.

And she saith to him, `Give to me a blessing; when the south land thou hast given me -- then thou hast given to me springs of water; and Caleb giveth to her the upper springs and the lower springs.

16 L os descendientes del Quenita, suegro de Moisés, subieron de la ciudad de las palmeras con los hijos de Judá, al desierto de Judá que está al sur de Arad; y fueron y habitaron con el pueblo.

And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah the wilderness of Judah, which in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.

17 E ntonces Judá fue con Simeón su hermano, y derrotaron a los Cananeos que vivían en Sefat, y la destruyeron por completo. Por eso pusieron por nombre a la ciudad, Horma (Destrucción).

And Judah goeth with Simeon his brother, and they smite the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and calleth the name of the city Hormah.

18 Y Judá tomó a Gaza con su territorio, a Ascalón con su territorio y a Ecrón con su territorio.

And Judah captureth Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;

19 E l Señor estaba con Judá, que tomó posesión de la región montañosa. Pero Judá no pudo expulsar a los habitantes del valle porque éstos tenían carros de hierro.

and Jehovah is with Judah, and he occupieth the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.

20 E ntonces dieron Hebrón a Caleb, como Moisés había prometido. Y él expulsó de allí a los tres hijos de Anac.

And they give to Caleb Hebron, as Moses hath spoken, and he dispossesseth thence the three sons of Anak.

21 P ero los hijos de Benjamín no expulsaron a los Jebuseos que vivían en Jerusalén. Así que los Jebuseos han vivido con los Benjamitas en Jerusalén hasta el día de hoy. José Conquista a Betel

And the Jebusite, inhabiting Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed; and the Jebusite dwelleth with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, till this day.

22 D e igual manera la casa de José subió contra Betel (Casa de Dios); y el Señor estaba con ellos.

And the house of Joseph go up -- even they -- to Beth-El, and Jehovah with them;

23 Y la casa de José envió espías a Betel (el nombre de la ciudad antes era Luz ).

and the house of Joseph cause to spy about Beth-El (and the name of the city formerly is Luz),

24 Y los espías vieron a un hombre que salía de la ciudad y le dijeron: “Te rogamos que nos muestres la entrada de la ciudad y te trataremos con misericordia.”

and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, `Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance of the city, and we have done with thee kindness.'

25 E l les mostró la entrada de la ciudad, e hirieron la ciudad a filo de espada, pero dejaron ir al hombre y a toda su familia.

And he sheweth them the entrance of the city, and they smite the city by the mouth of the sword, and the man and all his family they have sent away;

26 Y el hombre fue a la tierra de los Hititas y edificó una ciudad a la que llamó Luz. Y éste es su nombre hasta hoy. Lugares no Conquistados

and the man goeth to the land of the Hittites, and buildeth a city, and calleth its name Luz -- it its name unto this day.

27 P ero Manasés no tomó posesión de Bet Seán y sus aldeas, ni de Taanac y sus aldeas, ni de los habitantes de Dor y sus aldeas, ni de los habitantes de Ibleam y sus aldeas, ni de los habitantes de Meguido y sus aldeas, porque los Cananeos persistían en habitar en aquella tierra.

And Manasseh hath not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;

28 P ero cuando Israel se hizo fuerte, sometieron a los Cananeos a trabajos forzados, aunque no los expulsaron totalmente.

and it cometh to pass, when Israel hath been strong, that he setteth the Canaanite to tribute, and hath not utterly dispossessed it.

29 T ampoco Efraín expulsó a los Cananeos que habitaban en Gezer; y los Cananeos habitaron en medio de ellos en Gezer.

And Ephraim hath not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, in Gezer.

30 Z abulón no expulsó a los habitantes de Quitrón, ni a los habitantes de Naalal; de manera que los Cananeos habitaron en medio de ellos, aunque fueron sometidos a trabajos forzados.

Zebulun hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, and they become tributary.

31 A ser no expulsó a los habitantes de Aco, ni a los habitantes de Sidón, ni de Ahlab, ni de Aczib, ni de Helba, ni de Afec, ni de Rehob.

Asher hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Zidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;

32 A sí que los de Aser habitaron entre los Cananeos, los habitantes de aquella tierra, porque no los pudieron expulsar.

and the Asherite dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it hath not dispossessed them.

33 N eftalí no expulsó a los habitantes de Bet Semes, ni a los habitantes de Bet Anat, sino que habitó entre los Cananeos, los habitantes de aquella tierra. Pero los habitantes de Bet Semes y de Bet Anat fueron sometidos a trabajos forzados.

Naphtali hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath have become tributary to them.

34 E ntonces los Amorreos forzaron a los hijos de Dan hacia la región montañosa, y no los dejaron descender al valle.

And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not suffered them to go down to the valley;

35 Y los Amorreos persistieron en habitar en el Monte Heres, en Ajalón y en Saalbim; pero cuando el poder de la casa de José se fortaleció, los Amorreos, fueron sometidos a trabajos forzados.

and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they become tributary;

36 L a frontera de los Amorreos iba desde la subida de Acrabim, desde Sela hacia arriba.

and the border of the Amorite from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.
