1 ¡ Ay, Ariel (León de Dios), Ariel la ciudad donde acampó David! Añadan año sobre año, celebren las fiestas a su tiempo.

2 T raeré angustias a Ariel, Y será una ciudad de lamento y de duelo; Será para Mí como un Ariel (un brasero del altar).

And I have sent distress to Ariel, And it hath been lamentation and mourning, And it hath been to me as Ariel.

3 A camparé contra ti rodeándote, Pondré contra ti vallas de asedio, Y levantaré contra ti baluartes.

And I encamped, O babbler, against thee, And I laid siege against thee -- a camp. And I raised up against thee bulwarks.

4 E ntonces serás humillada, Desde el suelo hablarás, Y desde el polvo donde estás postrada Saldrá tu habla. Tu voz será también como la de un espíritu de la tierra, Y desde el polvo susurrará tu habla.

And thou hast been low, From the earth thou speakest, And from the dust makest thy saying low, And thy voice hath been from the earth, As one having a familiar spirit, And from the dust thy saying whisperest,

5 P ero la multitud de tus enemigos será como polvo fino, Y la multitud de los crueles como paja que se va volando; Sucederá en un instante, de repente.

And as small dust hath been The multitude of those scattering thee, And as chaff passing on the multitude of the terrible, And it hath been at an instant -- suddenly.

6 S erás castigada por el Señor de los ejércitos con truenos y terremotos y gran ruido, Con torbellino y tempestad y con llama de fuego consumidor.

By Jehovah of Hosts thou art inspected, With thunder, and with an earthquake, And great noise, hurricane, and whirlwind, And flame of devouring fire.

7 Y será como un sueño, una visión nocturna, La multitud de todas las naciones que combaten contra Ariel, Todos los que combaten contra ella y su fortaleza, y los que la afligen.

And as a dream, a vision of night, hath been The multitude of all the nations Who are warring against Ariel, And all its warriors, and its bulwark, Even of those distressing her.

8 S erá como cuando un hambriento sueña Que está comiendo; Pero cuando despierta, su hambre no ha sido satisfecha. O como cuando un sediento sueña Que está bebiendo; Pero cuando despierta, está desfallecido, Y su sed no ha sido aplacada. Así será la multitud de todas las naciones Que combaten contra el Monte Sion.

And it hath been, as when the hungry dreameth, And lo, he is eating, And he hath waked, and empty his soul, And as when the thirsty dreameth, And lo, he is drinking, and he hath waked, And lo, he is weary, and his soul is longing, So is the multitude of all the nations Who are warring against mount Zion.

9 D eténganse y esperen, Ciéguense y quédense ciegos. Ustedes se embriagan, pero no con vino; Se tambalean, pero no con licor.

Tarry and wonder, look ye, yea, look, Be drunk, and not with wine, Stagger, and not with strong drink.

10 P orque el Señor ha derramado sobre ustedes espíritu de sueño profundo, El ha cerrado sus ojos: los profetas, Y ha cubierto sus cabezas: los videntes.

For poured out on you hath Jehovah a spirit of deep sleep, And He closeth your eyes -- the prophets, And your heads -- the seers -- He covered.

11 T oda la visión será para ustedes como las palabras de un libro sellado, que cuando se le da al que sabe leer, diciéndole: “Lee esto, por favor;” y él dirá: “No puedo, porque está sellado.”

And the vision of the whole is to you, As words of the sealed book, That they give unto one knowing books, Saying, `Read this, we pray thee,' And he hath said, `I am not able, for it sealed;'

12 E ntonces el libro será dado al que no sabe leer, diciéndole: “Lee esto, por favor;” y él dirá: “No sé leer.” Hipocresía de Israel

And the book is given to him who hath not known books, Saying, `Read this, we pray thee,' And he hath said, `I have not known books.'

13 D ijo entonces el Señor: “Por cuanto este pueblo se acerca a Mí con sus palabras Y Me honra con sus labios, Pero aleja de Mí su corazón, Y su veneración hacia Mí es sólo una tradición aprendida de memoria,

And the Lord saith: Because drawn near hath this people, with its mouth, And with its lips they have honoured Me, And its heart it hath put far off from Me, And their fear of Me is -- A precept of men is taught!

14 P or tanto, volveré a hacer maravillas con este pueblo, prodigiosas maravillas. Y perecerá la sabiduría de sus sabios, Y se eclipsará el entendimiento de sus entendidos.”

Therefore, lo, I am adding to do wonderfully with this people, A wonder, and a marvel, And perished hath the wisdom of its wise ones, And the understanding of its intelligent ones hideth itself.'

15 ¡ Ay de los que van muy hondo Para esconder sus planes al Señor, Y realizan sus obras en tinieblas Y dicen: “¿Quién nos ve ? o ¿Quién nos conoce?”

Wo those going deep from Jehovah to hide counsel, And whose works have been in darkness. And they say, `Who is seeing us? And who is knowing us?'

16 ¡ Qué equivocación la suya! ¿Es acaso el alfarero igual que el barro, Para que lo que está hecho diga a su hacedor: “El no me hizo;” O lo que está formado diga al que lo formó: “El no tiene entendimiento?” Redención de Israel

Your perversion! as clay is the potter esteemed? That the work saith of its maker, `He hath not made me?' And the framed thing said of its framer, `He did not understand?'

17 ¿ Acaso no queda ya muy poco tiempo Para que el Líbano se convierta en campo fértil, Y el campo fértil sea considerado bosque?

Is it not yet a very little, And turned hath Lebanon to a fruitful field, And the fruitful field for a forest is reckoned?

18 E n aquel día los sordos oirán las palabras de un libro, Y desde la oscuridad y las tinieblas los ojos de los ciegos verán.

And heard in that day have the deaf the words of a book, And out of thick darkness, and out of darkness, The eyes of the blind do see.

19 L os afligidos aumentarán también su alegría en el Señor, Y los necesitados de la humanidad se regocijarán en el Santo de Israel.

And the humble have added joy in Jehovah, And the poor among men In the Holy One of Israel rejoice.

20 P orque el violento tendrá su fin, el insolente será acabado, Y serán cortados todos los que se desvelan para hacer el mal;

For ceased hath the terrible one, And consumed hath been the scorner, And cut off have been all watching for iniquity,

21 L os que hacen que una persona sea acusada por una palabra, Y tienden lazos al que juzga en la puerta, Y defraudan al justo con vanos argumentos.

Causing men to sin in word, And for a reprover in the gate lay a snare, And turn aside into emptiness the righteous.

22 P or tanto, el Señor, que redimió a Abraham, dice así acerca de la casa de Jacob: “Jacob no será ahora avergonzado, ni palidecerá ahora su rostro,

Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Who ransomed Abraham, Concerning the house of Jacob: `Not now ashamed is Jacob, Nor now doth his face become pale,

23 P orque cuando vea a sus hijos, la obra de Mis manos, en medio suyo, Ellos santificarán Mi nombre. Ciertamente, santificarán al Santo de Jacob, Y tendrán temor al Dios de Israel.

For in his seeing his children, The work of My hand, in his midst, They sanctify My name, And have sanctified the Holy One of Jacob, And the God of Israel they declare fearful.

24 L os descarriados de espíritu conocerán la verdad, Y los murmuradores aceptarán instrucción.”

And the erring in spirit have known understanding, And murmurers learn doctrine!'
