1 E ntonces Salomón dijo: “El Señor ha dicho que El moraría en la densa nube.

Then said Solomon, `Jehovah said -- to dwell in thick darkness,

2 Y o, pues, Te he edificado una casa majestuosa, Un lugar donde mores para siempre.”

and I -- I have built a house of habitation for Thee, and a fixed place for Thy dwelling to the ages.'

3 D espués el rey se volvió y bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, mientras toda la asamblea de Israel estaba de pie,

And the king turneth round his face, and blesseth the whole assembly of Israel, and the whole assembly of Israel is standing,

4 y dijo: “Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, que habló por Su boca a mi padre David y por Su mano lo ha cumplido, cuando dijo:

and he saith, `Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath spoken with His mouth with David my father, and with His hands hath fulfilled, saying:

5 ‘ Desde el día en que saqué a Mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, no escogí ninguna ciudad de entre todas las tribus de Israel en la cual edificar una casa para que Mi nombre estuviera allí, ni escogí a hombre alguno por príncipe sobre Mi pueblo Israel;

`From the day that I brought out My people from the land of Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name being there, and I have not fixed on a man to be leader over My people Israel;

6 m as escogí a Jerusalén para que Mi nombre estuviera allí, y escogí a David para que estuviera sobre Mi pueblo Israel.’

and I fix on Jerusalem for My name being there, and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

7 M i padre David tuvo en su corazón edificar una casa al nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel.

`And it is with the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah God of Israel,

8 P ero el Señor dijo a mi padre David: ‘Ya que tuviste en tu corazón edificar una casa a Mi nombre, bien hiciste en desearlo en tu corazón.

and Jehovah saith unto David my father, Because that it hath been with thy heart to build a house for My name, thou hast done well that it hath been with thy heart,

9 S in embargo, tú no edificarás la casa, sino que tu hijo que te nacerá, él edificará la casa a Mi nombre.’

but thou dost not build the house, for thy son who cometh forth out from thy loins, he doth build the house for My name.

10 A hora el Señor ha cumplido la palabra que había dicho; pues yo me he levantado en lugar de mi padre David y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como el Señor prometió, y he edificado la casa al nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel.

`And Jehovah doth establish His word that He spake, and I rise up in the stead of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah spake, and I build the house for the name of Jehovah, God of Israel,

11 Y he puesto allí el arca, en la cual está el pacto que el Señor hizo con los Israelitas.”

and I place there the ark, where the covenant of Jehovah that He made with the sons of Israel.'

12 E ntonces Salomón se puso delante del altar del Señor en presencia de toda la asamblea de Israel y extendió las manos.

And he standeth before the altar of Jehovah, over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreadeth out his hand, --

13 P orque Salomón había hecho un estrado de bronce de 2. 25 metros de largo, 2. 25 metros de ancho y 1. 35 metros de alto, y lo había puesto en medio del atrio; se puso sobre él, se hincó de rodillas en presencia de toda la asamblea de Israel y extendiendo las manos al cielo,

for Solomon hath made a scaffold of brass, and putteth it in the midst of the court, five cubits its length, and five cubits its breadth, and three cubits its height, and he standeth upon it, and kneeleth on his knees over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreadeth forth his hands towards the heavens --

14 d ijo: “Oh Señor, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como Tú ni en el cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y muestras misericordia a Tus siervos que andan delante de Ti con todo su corazón;

and saith, `O Jehovah God of Israel, there is not like Thee a god in the heavens and in the earth, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Thy servants who are walking before Thee with all their heart;

15 q ue has cumplido con Tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste; ciertamente has hablado con Tu boca y lo has cumplido con Tu mano, como sucede hoy.

who hast kept for Thy servant David my father that which Thou didst speak to him; yea, Thou dost speak with Thy mouth, and with Thy hand hast fulfilled, as at this day.

16 A hora pues, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, cumple con Tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste, diciendo: ‘No te faltará quién se siente en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos guarden sus caminos para andar en Mi ley como Tú has andado delante de Mí.’

`And now, O Jehovah, God of Israel, keep for Thy servant David my father that which Thou didst speak to him, saying, There is not cut off to thee a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel, only, if thy sons watch their way to walk in My law, as thou hast walked before Me.

17 A hora pues, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, que se cumpla la palabra que hablaste a Tu siervo David.

`And now, O Jehovah, God of Israel, is Thy word stedfast that Thou hast spoken to Thy servant, to David,

18 “ Pero, ¿morará verdaderamente Dios con los hombres en la tierra? Si los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no Te pueden contener, cuánto menos esta casa que yo he edificado.

(for is it true? -- God dwelleth with man on the earth! Lo, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens, do not contain Thee, how much less this house that I have built?)

19 N o obstante, atiende a la oración de Tu siervo y a su súplica, oh Señor Dios mío, para que oigas el clamor y la oración que Tu siervo hace delante de Ti.

`And Thou hast turned unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer that Thy servant is praying before Thee,

20 Q ue Tus ojos estén abiertos día y noche sobre esta casa, sobre el lugar del cual has dicho que allí pondrías Tu nombre, para que oigas la oración que Tu siervo hará hacia este lugar.

for Thine eyes being open towards this house by day and by night, towards the place that Thou hast said to put Thy name there, to hearken unto the prayer that Thy servant prayeth towards this place.

21 Y escucha las súplicas de Tu siervo y de Tu pueblo Israel cuando oren hacia este lugar; escucha Tú desde el lugar de Tu morada, desde los cielos; escucha y perdona.

`And Thou hast hearkened unto the supplications of Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, that they pray towards this place, and Thou dost hear from the place of Thy dwelling, from the heavens, and hast hearkened, and forgiven.

22 “ Si alguien peca contra su prójimo, y se le exige juramento, y viene y jura delante de Tu altar en esta casa,

`If a man doth sin against his neighbour, and he hath lifted up on him an oath to cause him to swear, and the oath hath come in before Thine altar in this house --

23 e scucha Tú desde los cielos y obra y juzga a Tus siervos, castigando al impío, haciendo recaer su conducta sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo dándole conforme a su justicia.

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, and hast done, and hast judged Thy servants, to give back to the wicked, to put his way on his head, and to declare righteous the righteous, to give to him according to his righteousness.

24 “ Y si Tu pueblo Israel es derrotado delante del enemigo por haber pecado contra Ti, y se vuelven a Ti y confiesan Tu nombre, y oran y hacen súplica delante de Ti en esta casa,

`And if Thy people Israel is smitten before an enemy, because they sin against Thee, and they have turned back and confessed Thy name, and prayed and made supplication before Thee in this house --

25 e scucha Tú desde los cielos y perdona el pecado de Tu pueblo Israel, y hazlos volver a la tierra que diste a ellos y a sus padres.

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy people Israel, and caused them to turn back unto the ground that Thou hast given to them, and to their fathers.

26 “ Cuando los cielos estén cerrados y no haya lluvia por haber ellos pecado contra Ti, y oren hacia este lugar y confiesen Tu nombre, y se vuelvan de su pecado cuando Tú los aflijas,

`In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against Thee, and they have prayed towards this place, and confessed Thy name -- from their sin they turn back because Thou dost afflict them --

27 e scucha Tú desde los cielos y perdona el pecado de Tus siervos y de Tu pueblo Israel; sí, enséñales el buen camino por el que deben andar, y envía lluvia sobre Tu tierra, la que diste a Tu pueblo por heredad.

then Thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy servants, and of Thy people Israel, because Thou directest them unto the good way in which they walk, and hast given rain on Thy land that Thou hast given to Thy people for an inheritance.

28 “ Si hay hambre en la tierra, si hay pestilencia, si hay pestes o plagas, langosta o saltamontes, si sus enemigos los sitian en la tierra de sus ciudades, cualquier plaga o cualquier enfermedad que haya,

`Famine, when it is in the land, pestilence, when it is, blasting, and mildew, locust, and caterpillar, when they are, when its enemies have distressed it in the land -- its gates, any plague and any sickness;

29 t oda oración o toda súplica que sea hecha por cualquier hombre o por todo Tu pueblo Israel, conociendo cada cual su aflicción y su dolor, y extendiendo sus manos hacia esta casa,

any prayer, any supplication that is for any man, and for all Thy people Israel, when they know each his own plague, and his own pain, and he hath spread out his hands towards this house:

30 e scucha Tú desde los cielos, el lugar de Tu morada, y perdona y da a cada uno conforme a todos sus caminos, ya que conoces su corazón (porque sólo Tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres ),

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast forgiven, and hast given to each according to all his ways (because Thou knowest his heart, for Thou -- Thou only -- hast known the heart of the sons of men),

31 p ara que Te teman (reverencien) y anden en Tus caminos todos los días que vivan sobre la superficie de la tierra que diste a nuestros padres.

so that they fear Thee, to walk in Thy ways, all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that Thou hast given to our fathers.

32 “ También en cuanto al extranjero que no es de Tu pueblo Israel, cuando venga de una tierra lejana a causa de Tu gran nombre y de Tu mano poderosa y de Tu brazo extendido, cuando ellos vengan a orar a esta casa,

`And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and he hath come from a land afar off for the sake of Thy great name, and Thy strong hand, and Thy stretched-out arm, and they have come in and prayed towards this house:

33 e scucha Tú desde los cielos, desde el lugar de Tu morada, y haz conforme a todo lo que el extranjero Te pida, para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan Tu nombre, para que Te teman (reverencien), como Te teme Tu pueblo Israel, y para que sepan que Tu nombre es invocado sobre esta casa que he edificado.

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast done according to all that the stranger calleth unto Thee for: so that all the peoples of the earth do know Thy name, so as to fear Thee, as Thy people Israel, and to know that Thy name is called on this house that I have built.

34 “ Cuando Tu pueblo salga a la batalla contra sus enemigos, por cualquier camino que los envíes, y oren a Ti vueltos hacia esta ciudad que has escogido, y hacia la casa que he edificado a Tu nombre,

`When Thy people doth go out to battle against its enemies in the way that Thou dost send them, and they have prayed unto Thee the way of this city that Thou hast fixed on, and the house that I have built for Thy name:

35 e scucha desde los cielos su oración y su súplica, y hazles justicia.

then Thou hast heard from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and hast maintained their cause.

36 “ Cuando pequen contra Ti (pues no hay hombre que no peque ) y estés lleno de ira contra ellos, y los entregues delante del enemigo, y éstos los lleven cautivos a una tierra, lejana o cercana,

`When they sin against Thee -- for there is not a man who sinneth not -- and Thou hast been angry with them, and hast given them before an enemy, and taken them captive have their captors, unto a land far off or near;

37 s i recapacitan en la tierra adonde hayan sido llevados cautivos, y se arrepienten y Te suplican en la tierra de su cautiverio, diciendo: ‘Hemos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad y hemos obrado perversamente’;

and they have turned back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto Thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have done wickedly;

38 s i se vuelven a Ti con todo su corazón y con toda su alma en la tierra de su cautiverio adonde hayan sido llevados cautivos, y oran vueltos hacia la tierra que diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que has escogido y hacia la casa que he edificado a Tu nombre,

yea, they have turned back unto Thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have taken them captive, and they have prayed the way of their land that Thou hast given to their fathers, and of the city that Thou hast chosen, and of the house that I have built for Thy name:

39 e scucha Tú desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, su oración y sus súplicas, hazles justicia y perdona a Tu pueblo que ha pecado contra Ti.

then Thou hast heard from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and hast maintained their cause, and forgiven Thy people who have sinned against Thee.

40 “ Ahora, oh Dios mío, Te ruego que Tus ojos estén abiertos y Tus oídos atentos a la oración elevada en este lugar.

`Now, my God, let, I beseech Thee, Thine eyes be open, and Thine ears attentive, to the prayer of this place:

41 A hora pues, levántate, oh Señor Dios, hacia Tu reposo, Tú y el arca de Tu poder; que Tus sacerdotes, oh Señor Dios, se revistan de salvación y Tus santos se regocijen en lo que es bueno.

and now, rise, O Jehovah God, to Thy rest, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength; Thy priests, O Jehovah God, are clothed with salvation, and Thy saints rejoice in the goodness,

42 O h Señor Dios, no rechaces el rostro de Tu ungido; acuérdate de Tus misericordias para con Tu siervo David.”

O Jehovah God, turn not back the face of Thine anointed, be mindful of the kind acts of David Thy servant.'
