1 C uando Jabín, rey de Hazor, se enteró de todo esto envió mensajeros a Jobab, rey de Madón, al rey de Simrón, al rey de Acsaf.

And it cometh to pass when Jabin king of Hazor heareth, that he sendeth unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph,

2 T ambién avisó a los reyes que estaban al norte en la región montañosa, en el Arabá, al sur del Mar de Cineret (Mar de Galilea), y en las tierras bajas (la Sefela) y en las alturas de Dor al occidente,

and unto the kings who on the north in the hill-country, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the low country, and in the elevations of Dor, on the west,

3 a los Cananeos que estaban al oriente y al occidente, a los Amorreos, a los Hititas, a los Ferezeos y a los Jebuseos en la región montañosa, y a los Heveos al pie del Hermón en la tierra de Mizpa.

the Canaanite on the east, and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon, in the land of Mizpeh --

4 S alieron ellos, y todos sus ejércitos con ellos, tanta gente como la arena que está a la orilla del mar, con muchísimos caballos y carros.

and they go out, they and all their camps with them, a people numerous, as the sand which on the sea-shore for multitude, and horse and charioteer very many;

5 A sí que todos estos reyes, habiendo acordado unirse, vinieron y acamparon juntos cerca de las aguas de Merom para pelear contra Israel.

and all these kings are met together, and they come and encamp together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

6 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Josué: “No temas a causa de ellos, porque mañana a esta hora Yo los entregaré a todos ellos muertos delante de Israel. Desjarretarás sus caballos y les quemarás sus carros.”

And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of their presence, for to-morrow about this time I am giving all of them wounded before Israel; their horses thou dost hough, and their chariots burn with fire.'

7 J osué, y toda la gente de guerra con él, vinieron de repente sobre ellos junto a las aguas de Merom, y los atacaron.

And Joshua cometh, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and they fall on them;

8 Y el Señor los entregó en manos de Israel, los derrotaron y los persiguieron hasta Sidón la grande, hasta Misrefot Maim y hasta el Valle de Mizpa al oriente. Los hirieron hasta que no les quedó sobreviviente alguno.

and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Israel, and they smite them and pursue them unto the great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-Maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward, and they smite them, till he hath not left to them a remnant;

9 J osué hizo con ellos como el Señor le había mandado: desjarretó sus caballos y les quemó sus carros.

and Joshua doth to them as Jehovah said to him; their horses he hath houghed, and their chariots burnt with fire.

10 P or ese mismo tiempo Josué volvió y se apoderó de Hazor e hirió a espada a su rey, porque Hazor antes había sido cabeza de todos estos reinos.

And Joshua turneth back at that time, and captureth Hazor, and its king he hath smitten by the sword; for Hazor formerly head of all these kingdoms;

11 M ataron a filo de espada a todas las personas que había en ella, destruyéndo las por completo. No quedó nadie con vida. A Hazor le prendió fuego.

and they smite every person who in it by the mouth of the sword; he hath devoted -- he hath not left any one breathing, and Hazor he hath burnt with fire;

12 J osué capturó todas las ciudades de estos reyes, y a todos sus reyes. Los hirió a filo de espada y los destruyó por completo, tal como Moisés, siervo del Señor, había ordenado.

and all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, hath Joshua captured, and he smiteth them by the mouth of the sword; he devoted them, as Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded.

13 S in embargo, Israel no quemó ninguna de las ciudades que estaban sobre sus colinas, con la única excepción de Hazor, la cual Josué incendió.

Only, all the cities which are standing by their hill, Israel hath not burned them, save Hazor only, hath Joshua burnt;

14 L os Israelitas tomaron como botín todos los despojos de estas ciudades y el ganado; pero a los hombres hirieron a filo de espada hasta destruirlos. No dejaron a ninguno con vida.

and all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, have the sons of Israel spoiled for themselves; only, every human being they have smitten by the mouth of the sword, till their destroying them; they have not left any one breathing.

15 T al como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés Su siervo, así Moisés lo ordenó a Josué, y así Josué lo hizo. No dejó de hacer nada de todo lo que el Señor había ordenado a Moisés. Resumen de la Conquista

As Jehovah commanded Moses His servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so hath Joshua done; he hath not turned aside a thing of all that Jehovah commanded Moses.

16 T omó, pues, Josué toda aquella tierra: la región montañosa, todo el Neguev (región del sur), toda la tierra de Gosén, las tierras bajas (la Sefela), el Arabá, la región montañosa de Israel y sus llanuras,

And Joshua taketh all this land: the hill-country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the low country, and the plain, even the hill-country of Israel and its low lands,

17 d esde el Monte Halac, que se levanta hacia Seir, hasta Baal Gad en el Valle del Líbano, al pie del Monte Hermón. Capturó a todos sus reyes, los hirió y los mató.

from the mount of Halak, which is going up Seir, and unto Baal-Gad, in the valley of Lebanon, under mount Hermon; and all their kings he hath captured, and he smiteth them, and putteth them to death.

18 P or mucho tiempo Josué estuvo en guerra con todos estos reyes.

Many days hath Joshua made with all these kings war;

19 N o hubo ciudad que hiciera paz con los Israelitas, excepto los Heveos que vivían en Gabaón. De todas se apoderaron por la fuerza.

there hath not been a city which made peace with the sons of Israel save the Hivite, inhabitants of Gibeon; the whole they have taken in battle;

20 P orque fue la intención del Señor endurecer el corazón de ellos, para que se enfrentaran en batalla con Israel, a fin de que fueran destruidos por completo, sin que tuviera piedad de ellos y los exterminara, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

for from Jehovah it hath been to strengthen their heart, to meet in battle with Israel, in order to devote them, so that they have no grace, but in order to destroy them, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

21 P or aquel tiempo Josué fue y destruyó a los Anaceos de la región montañosa, de Hebrón, de Debir, de Anab, de toda la región montañosa de Judá y de toda la región montañosa de Israel. Josué los destruyó por completo con sus ciudades.

And Joshua cometh at that time, and cutteth off the Anakim from the hill-country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, even from all the hill-country of Judah, and from all the hill-country of Israel; with their cities hath Joshua devoted them.

22 N o quedaron Anaceos en la tierra de los Israelitas. Sólo quedaron algunos en Gaza, en Gat y en Asdod.

There hath not been left Anakim in the land of the sons of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, were they left.

23 T omó, pues, Josué toda la tierra de acuerdo con todo lo que el Señor había dicho a Moisés. Y Josué la dio por heredad a Israel conforme a sus divisiones por sus tribus. Entonces la tierra descansó de la guerra.

And Joshua taketh the whole of the land, according to all that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and Joshua giveth it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions, by their tribes; and the land hath rest from war.
