1 C uando el Señor tenga compasión de Jacob, y escoja de nuevo a Israel y los establezca en su propia tierra, entonces se les juntarán extranjeros que se unirán a la casa de Jacob.

Because Jehovah loveth Jacob, And hath fixed again on Israel, And given them rest on their own land, And joined hath been the sojourner to them, And they have been admitted to the house of Jacob.

2 L os pueblos los tomaran y los llevarán a su lugar, y la casa de Israel los poseerá como siervos y siervas en la tierra del Señor. Tomarán cautivos a los que los habían llevado cautivos, y dominarán sobre sus opresores.

And peoples have taken them, And have brought them in unto their place, And the house of Israel have inherited them, On the land of Jehovah, For men-servants and for maid-servants, And they have been captors of their captors, And have ruled over their exactors.

3 Y el día en que el Señor te dé descanso de tu dolor, de tu desesperación y de la dura servidumbre a la que fuiste sometido,

And it hath come to pass, In the day of Jehovah's giving rest to thee, From thy grief, and from thy trouble, And from the sharp bondage, That hath been served upon thee,

4 p ronunciarás esta burla contra el rey de Babilonia, y dirás: “¡Cómo se ha acabado el opresor, Y cómo ha cesado el furor!

That thou hast taken up this simile Concerning the king of Babylon, and said, How hath the exactor ceased,

5 E l Señor ha quebrado el báculo de los impíos, El cetro de los gobernantes

Ceased hath the golden one. Broken hath Jehovah the staff of the wicked, The sceptre of rulers.

6 Q ue golpeaba con furia a los pueblos con golpes incesantes, Que sometía con ira a las naciones en incesante persecución.

He who is smiting peoples in wrath, A smiting without intermission, He who is ruling in anger nations, Pursuing without restraint!

7 T oda la tierra está en reposo, está tranquila. Prorrumpe en gritos de júbilo.

At rest -- quiet hath been all the earth, They have broken forth singing.

8 A un los cipreses y los cedros del Líbano se alegran a causa de ti, y dicen: ‘Desde que fuiste derribado, no ha subido talador contra nosotros.’

Even firs have rejoiced over thee, Cedars of Lebanon --: Since thou hast lain down, The hewer cometh not up against us.

9 E l Seol (región de los muertos), desde abajo, se estremece por ti al recibirte en tu venida; Por ti despierta a los espíritus de los muertos, a todos los jefes de la tierra; Levanta de sus tronos a todos los reyes de las naciones.

Sheol beneath hath been troubled at thee, To meet thy coming in, It is waking up for thee Rephaim, All chiefs ones of earth, It hath raised up from their thrones All kings of nations.

10 T odos ellos responderán y te dirán: ‘También tú has sido debilitado como nosotros, Has venido a ser semejante a nosotros.

All of them answer and say unto thee, Even thou hast become weak like us! Unto us thou hast become like!

11 H an sido derribadas al Seol Tu ostentación y la música de tus arpas. Debajo de ti las larvas se extienden como cama, Y los gusanos son tu cobertura.’

Brought down to Sheol hath been thine excellency, The noise of thy psaltery, Under thee spread out hath been the worm, Yea, covering thee is the worm.

12 ¡ Cómo has caído del cielo, Oh lucero de la mañana, hijo de la aurora! Has sido derribado por tierra, Tú que debilitabas a las naciones.

How hast thou fallen from the heavens, O shining one, son of the dawn! Thou hast been cut down to earth, O weakener of nations.

13 P ero tú dijiste en tu corazón: ‘Subiré al cielo, Por encima de las estrellas de Dios levantaré mi trono, Y me sentaré en el monte de la asamblea, En el extremo norte.

And thou saidst in thy heart: the heavens I go up, Above stars of God I raise my throne, And I sit in the mount of meeting in the sides of the north.

14 S ubiré sobre las alturas de las nubes, Me haré semejante al Altísimo.’

I go up above the heights of a thick cloud, I am like to the Most High.

15 S in embargo, serás derribado al Seol, A lo más remoto del abismo.

Only -- unto Sheol thou art brought down, Unto the sides of the pit.

16 L os que te vean te observarán, Te contemplarán, y dirán: ‘¿Es éste aquel hombre que hacía temblar la tierra, Que sacudía los reinos,

Thy beholders look to thee, to thee they attend, Is this the man causing the earth to tremble, Shaking kingdoms?

17 Q ue puso al mundo como un desierto, Que derribó sus ciudades, Que a sus prisioneros no abrió la cárcel ?’

He hath made the world as a wilderness, And his cities he hath broken down, Of his bound ones he opened not the house.

18 T odos los reyes de las naciones, Todos ellos yacen con gloria, Cada uno en su sepulcro.

All kings of nations -- all of them, Have lain down in honour, each in his house,

19 P ero tú has sido echado de tu sepulcro Como vástago desechado, Como ropa de muertos traspasados a espada, Que descienden a las piedras de la fosa, Como cadáver pisoteado.

And -- thou hast been cast out of thy grave, As an abominable branch, raiment of the slain, Thrust through ones of the sword, Going down unto the sons of the pit, As a carcase trodden down.

20 N o estarás unido con ellos en el sepelio, Porque has destruido tu tierra, Has matado a tu pueblo. Que no se nombre jamás la descendencia de los malhechores.

Thou art not united with them in burial, For thy land thou hast destroyed, Thy people thou hast slain, Not named to the age is the seed of evil doers.

21 P reparen para sus hijos el matadero A causa de la iniquidad de sus padres. Que no se levanten y tomen posesión de la tierra, Y llenen de ciudades la faz del mundo.”

Prepare ye for his sons slaughter; Because of the iniquity of their fathers, They rise not, nor have possessed the land, Nor filled the face of the world cities.

22 “ Yo me levantaré contra ellos,” declara el Señor de los ejércitos, “y cortaré de Babilonia nombre y sobrevivientes, descendencia y posteridad,” declara el Señor.

And I have risen up against them, (The affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts,) And have cut off, in reference to Babylon, Name and remnant, and continuator and successor, The affirmation of Jehovah.

23 “ La convertiré en posesión de erizos y en aguas estancadas, y la barreré con la escoba de la destrucción,” declara el Señor de los ejércitos. Profecía sobre Asiria y Filistea

And have made it for a possession of a bittern, And ponds of waters, And daubed it with the mire of destruction, The affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!

24 E l Señor de los ejércitos ha jurado: “Ciertamente, tal como lo había pensado, así ha sucedido; tal como lo había planeado, así se cumplirá:

Sworn hath Jehovah of Hosts, saying, `As I thought -- so hath it not been? And as I counselled -- it standeth;

25 Q uebrantaré a Asiria en Mi tierra, y la pisotearé sobre Mis montes. Entonces su yugo se les quitará de encima, y su carga será quitada de sus hombros.

To break Asshur in My land, And on My mountains I tread him down, And turned from off them hath his yoke, Yea, his burden from off their shoulder turneth aside.

26 E ste es el plan acordado contra toda la tierra, y ésta es la mano que está extendida contra todas las naciones.

This the counsel that is counselled for all the earth, And this the hand that is stretched out for all the nations.

27 S i el Señor de los ejércitos lo ha determinado, ¿quién puede frustrar lo ? Y en cuanto a Su mano extendida, ¿quién podrá apartarla ?”

For Jehovah of Hosts hath purposed, And who doth make void? And His hand that is stretched out, Who doth turn it back?'

28 E l año en que murió el rey Acaz, vino este oráculo (esta profecía):

In the year of the death of king Ahaz was this burden:

29 “ No te alegres, toda tú, Filistea, De que la vara que te hirió esté quebrada; Pues de la raíz de la serpiente saldrá una víbora, Y su fruto será serpiente voladora.

Rejoice not thou, Philistia, all of thee, That broken hath been the rod of thy smiter, For from the root of a serpent cometh out a viper, And its fruit a flying saraph.

30 L os más débiles comerán, Y los necesitados se acostarán seguros. Pero haré morir de hambre tu raíz, Y ésta matará tus sobrevivientes.

And delighted have the first-born of the poor, And the needy in confidence lie down, And I have put to death with famine thy root, And thy remnant it slayeth.

31 G ime, puerta; clama, ciudad; Derrítete (Desanímate), toda tú, Filistea. Porque del norte viene humo, Y nadie de sus filas se queda atrás.

Howl, O gate; cry, O city, Melted art thou, Philistia, all of thee, For from the north smoke hath come, And there is none alone in his set places.

32 ¿ Cómo, pues, se responderá a los mensajeros de la nación ?: Que el Señor ha fundado a Sion, Y en ella buscarán refugio los afligidos de Su pueblo.”

And what doth one answer the messengers of a nation? `That Jehovah hath founded Zion, And in it do the poor of His people trust!'
