1 “ Si se levanta en medio de ti un profeta o soñador de sueños, y te anuncia una señal o un prodigio,

`When there ariseth in your midst a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he hath given unto thee a sign or wonder,

2 y la señal o el prodigio se cumple, acerca del cual él te había hablado, diciendo: ‘Vamos en pos de otros dioses (a los cuales no has conocido) y sirvámoslos,’

and the sign and the wonder hath come which he hath spoken of unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods (which thou hast not known), and serve them,

3 n o darás oído a las palabras de ese profeta o de ese soñador de sueños; porque el Señor tu Dios te está probando para ver si amas al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.

thou dost not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of the dream, for Jehovah your God is trying you, to know whether ye are loving Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul;

4 E n pos del Señor su Dios ustedes andarán y a El temerán; guardarán Sus mandamientos, escucharán Su voz, Le servirán y a El se unirán.

after Jehovah your God ye walk, and Him ye fear, and His commands ye keep, and to His voice ye hearken, and Him ye serve, and to Him ye cleave.

5 P ero a ese profeta o a ese soñador de sueños se le dará muerte, por cuanto ha aconsejado rebelión contra el Señor tu Dios, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto y te redimió de casa de servidumbre, para apartarte del camino en el cual el Señor tu Dios te mandó andar. Así quitarás el mal de en medio de ti.

`And that prophet, or that dreamer of the dream, is put to death, for he hath spoken apostacy against Jehovah your God (who is bringing you out of the land of Egypt, and hath ransomed you out of a house of servants), to drive you out of the way in which Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee to walk, and thou hast put away the evil thing from thy midst.

6 “ Si tu hermano, el hijo de tu madre, o tu hijo, o tu hija, o la mujer que amas, o tu amigo entrañable, te invita en secreto, diciendo: ‘Vamos y sirvamos a otros dioses ’ (a quienes ni tú ni tus padres han conocido,

`When thy brother -- son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend who as thine own soul -- doth move thee, in secret, saying, Let us go and serve other gods -- (which thou hast not known, thou and thy fathers,

7 d e los dioses de los pueblos que te rodean, cerca o lejos de ti, de un término de la tierra al otro),

of the gods of the peoples who round about you, who are near unto thee, or who are far off from thee, from the end of the earth even unto the end of the earth) --

8 n o cederás ni le escucharás; y tu ojo no tendrá piedad de él, tampoco lo perdonarás ni lo encubrirás,

thou dost not consent to him, nor hearken unto him, nor doth thine eye have pity on him, nor dost thou spare, nor dost thou cover him over.

9 s ino que ciertamente lo matarás; tu mano será la primera contra él para matarlo, y después la mano de todo el pueblo.

`But thou dost surely kill him; thy hand is on him, in the first place, to put him to death, and the hand of all the people last;

10 L o apedrearás hasta que muera porque él trató de apartarte del Señor tu Dios que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de esclavos).

and thou hast stoned him with stones, and he hath died, for he hath sought to drive thee away from Jehovah thy God, who is bringing thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants;

11 E ntonces todo Israel oirá y temerá, y nunca volverá a hacer tal maldad en medio de ti.

and all Israel do hear and fear, and add not to do like this evil thing in thy midst.

12 “ Si oyes decir que en alguna de las ciudades que el Señor tu Dios te da para habitar,

`When thou hearest, in one of thy cities which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee to dwell there, saying,

13 h an salido hombres indignos de en medio de ti y han seducido a los habitantes de su ciudad, diciendo: ‘Vamos y sirvamos a otros dioses ’ (a quienes no has conocido),

Men, sons of worthlessness, have gone out of thy midst, and they force away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known --

14 e ntonces consultarás, buscarás y preguntarás con diligencia. Y si es verdad y se comprueba que se ha hecho tal abominación en medio de ti,

and thou hast enquired, and searched, and asked diligently, and lo, truth; the thing is established; this abomination hath been done in thy midst:

15 c iertamente herirás a filo de espada a los habitantes de esa ciudad, destruyéndola por completo con todo lo que hay en ella, y también su ganado a filo de espada.

`Thou dost surely smite the inhabitants of that city by the mouth of the sword; devoting it, and all that in it, even its cattle, by the mouth of the sword;

16 E ntonces amontonarás todo su botín en medio de su plaza, y prenderás fuego a la ciudad con todo su botín, todo ello como ofrenda encendida al Señor tu Dios; y será montón de ruinas para siempre. Nunca será reconstruida.

and all its spoil thou dost gather unto the midst of its broad place, and hast burned with fire the city and all its spoil completely, before Jehovah thy God, and it hath been a heap age-during, it is not built any more;

17 N ada de lo dedicado al anatema (a la destrucción) quedará en tu mano, para que el Señor se aparte del ardor de Su ira y sea misericordioso contigo, tenga compasión de ti y te multiplique, tal como El juró a tus padres,

and there doth not cleave to thy hand any of the devoted thing, so that Jehovah doth turn back from the fierceness of His anger, and hath given to thee mercies, and loved thee, and multiplied thee, as He hath sworn to thy fathers,

18 s i escuchas la voz del Señor tu Dios, guardando todos Sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy, haciendo lo que es justo ante los ojos del Señor tu Dios.

when thou dost hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep all his commands which I am commanding thee to-day, to do that which right in the eyes of Jehovah thy God.
