1 D igan a sus hermanos: “Ammí (Pueblo Mío),” y a sus hermanas: “Ruhamá (Compadecida).”

`Say ye to your brethren -- Ammi, And to your sisters -- Ruhamah.

2 “ Discutan con su madre, discutan, Porque ella no es mi mujer, y Yo no soy su marido; Que quite, pues, de su rostro sus prostituciones, Y sus adulterios de entre sus pechos;

Plead ye with your mother -- plead, (For she not My wife, and I not her husband,) And she turneth her whoredoms from before her, And her adulteries from between her breasts,

3 N o sea que Yo la desnude completamente Y la deje como el día en que nació, Y la ponga como un desierto, La reduzca a tierra seca Y la mate de sed.

Lest I strip her naked. And have set her up as the day of her birth, And have made her as a wilderness, And have set her as a dry land, And have put her to death with thirst.

4 T ampoco tendré compasión de sus hijos, Porque son hijos de prostitución,

And her sons I do not pity, For sons of whoredoms they,

5 P ues su madre se prostituyó; La que los concibió se deshonró, Porque dijo: ‘Iré tras mis amantes, Que me dan mi pan y mi agua, Mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida.’

For gone a-whoring hath their mother, Acted shamefully hath their conceiver, For she hath said, I go after my lovers, Those giving my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.

6 P or tanto, voy a cercar su camino con espinos, Y levantaré un muro contra ella para que no encuentre sus senderos.

Therefore, lo, I am hedging up thy way with thorns, And I have made for her a wall, And her paths she doth not find.

7 E lla seguirá a sus amantes, pero no los alcanzará; Los buscará, pero no los hallará. Entonces dirá: ‘Iré y volveré a mi primer marido, Porque mejor me iba entonces que ahora.’

And she hath pursued her lovers, And she doth not overtake them, And hath sought them, and doth not find, And she hath said: I go, and I turn back unto My first husband, For -- better to me then than now.

8 P ues ella no sabía que era Yo el que le daba el trigo, el vino nuevo y el aceite, Y le prodigaba la plata y el oro, Que ellos usaban para Baal.

And she knew not that I had given to her, The corn, and the new wine, and the oil. Yea, silver I did multiply to her, And the gold they prepared for Baal.

9 P or tanto, volveré a tomar Mi trigo a su tiempo Y Mi vino nuevo a su sazón. También me llevaré Mi lana y Mi lino Que le di para que cubriera su desnudez.

Therefore do I turn back, And I have taken My corn in its season, And My new wine in its appointed time, And I have taken away My wool and My flax, covering her nakedness.

10 Y entonces descubriré su vergüenza Ante los ojos de sus amantes, Y nadie la librará de Mi mano.

And now do I reveal her dishonour before the eyes of her lovers, And none doth deliver her out of My hand.

11 H aré cesar también todo su regocijo, Sus fiestas, sus lunas nuevas, sus días de reposo, Y todas sus solemnidades.

And I have caused to cease all her joy, Her festival, her new moon, and her sabbath, Even all her appointed times,

12 D evastaré sus vides y sus higueras, De las cuales decía ella: ‘Son la paga Que mis amantes me han dado.’ Y las convertiré en matorral, Y las devorarán las bestias del campo.

And made desolate her vine and her fig-tree, Of which she said, A gift they to me, That my lovers have given to me, And I have made them for a forest, And consumed them hath a beast of the field.

13 L a castigaré por los días de los Baales Cuando ella les ofrecía sacrificios Y se adornaba con sus zarcillos y joyas, Y se iba tras sus amantes, y se olvidaba de Mí,” declara el Señor. Dios se Desposará con Su Pueblo

And I have charged on her the days of the Baalim, To whom she maketh perfume, And putteth on her ring and her ornament, And goeth after her lovers, And Me forgat -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

14 “ Por tanto, voy a seducirla, Llevarla al desierto, Y hablarle al corazón.

Therefore, lo, I am enticing her, And have caused her to go to the wilderness, And I have spoken unto her heart,

15 A llí le daré sus viñas, Y el Valle de Acor por puerta de esperanza. Y allí cantará como en los días de su juventud, Como en el día en que subió de la tierra de Egipto.

And given to her her vineyards from thence, And the valley of Achor for an opening of hope, And she hath responded there as in the days of her youth, And as in the day of her coming up out of the land of Egypt.

16 S ucederá en aquel día,” declara el Señor, “que Me llamarás Ishí (esposo mío) Y no Me llamarás más Baalí (mi señor).

And it hath come to pass, in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, Thou dost call Me -- My husband, And dost not call Me any more -- My lord.

17 P orque quitaré de su boca los nombres de los Baales, Y nunca más serán mencionados por sus nombres.

And I have turned aside the names of the lords from her mouth, And they are not remembered any more by their name.

18 E n aquel día haré también un pacto por ellos Con las bestias del campo, Con las aves del cielo Y con los reptiles de la tierra. Quitaré de la tierra el arco, la espada y la guerra, Y haré que ellos duerman seguros.

And I have made to them a covenant in that day, with the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the creeping thing of the ground, And bow, and sword, and war I break from off the land, And have caused them to lie down confidently.

19 T e desposaré conmigo para siempre; Sí, te desposaré conmigo en justicia y en derecho, En misericordia y en compasión;

And I have betrothed thee to Me to the age, And betrothed thee to Me in righteousness, And in judgment, and kindness, and mercies,

20 T e desposaré conmigo en fidelidad, Y tú conocerás al Señor.

And betrothed thee to Me in faithfulness, And thou hast known Jehovah.

21 Y sucederá que en aquel día Yo responderé,” declara el Señor, “responderé a los cielos, y ellos responderán a la tierra,

And it hath come to pass in that day, I answer -- an affirmation of Jehovah, I answer the heavens, and they answer the earth.

22 Y la tierra responderá al trigo, al vino nuevo y al aceite, Y ellos responderán a Jezreel (Dios siembra).

And the earth doth answer the corn, And the new wine, and the oil, And they answer Jezreel.

23 L a sembraré para Mí en la tierra, Y tendré compasión de la que no recibió compasión, Y diré al que no era Mi pueblo: ‘Tú eres Mi pueblo,’ Y él dirá: ‘Tú eres mi Dios.’”

And I have sowed her to Me in the land, And I have pitied Lo-Ruhamah, And I have said to Lo-Ammi, My people thou, and it saith, My God!'
