1 E ntonces vinieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel y se sentaron delante de mí.

And come in unto me do certain of the elders of Israel, and sit before me.

2 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

3 “ Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han erigido sus ídolos en su corazón, y han puesto delante de su rostro lo que los hace caer en su iniquidad. ¿Me dejaré Yo consultar por ellos ?

`Son of man, these men have caused their idols to go up on their heart, and the stumbling-block of their iniquity they have put over-against their faces; am I inquired of at all by them?

4 P or tanto, diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “Cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel que erija sus ídolos en su corazón, y que ponga delante de su rostro lo que lo hace caer en su iniquidad, y después venga al profeta, Yo, el Señor, le responderé entonces de acuerdo con la multitud de sus ídolos,

`Therefore, speak with them, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Every one of the house of Israel who causeth his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath gone in unto the prophet -- I Jehovah have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,

5 a fin de alcanzar a la casa de Israel en sus corazones, que están apartados de Mí a causa de todos sus ídolos.”’

in order to catch the house of Israel by their heart, in that they have become estranged from off me by their idols -- all of them.

6 “ Por tanto, dile a la casa de Israel: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “Arrepiéntanse y apártense de sus ídolos, y de todas sus abominaciones aparten sus rostros.

`Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Turn ye back, yea, turn ye back from your idols, and from all your abominations turn back your faces,

7 P orque a cualquiera de la casa de Israel, o de los extranjeros que residen en Israel, que se aleje de Mí y erija sus ídolos en su corazón, que ponga delante de su rostro lo que lo hace caer en su iniquidad, y después venga al profeta para consultarme por medio de él, Yo, el Señor, le responderé por Mí mismo.

for every one of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who doth sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and doth cause his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath come in unto the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, Jehovah, have answered him for Myself;

8 P ondré Mi rostro contra ese hombre, haré de él señal y proverbio, y lo cortaré de en medio de Mi pueblo. Así ustedes sabrán que Yo soy el Señor.

and I have set My face against that man, and made him for a sign, and for similes, and I have cut him off from the midst of My people, and ye have known that I Jehovah.

9 P ero si el profeta se deja persuadir y dice algo, soy Yo, el Señor, el que he persuadido a ese profeta, y extenderé Mi mano contra él y lo exterminaré de en medio de Mi pueblo Israel.

`And the prophet, when he is enticed, and hath spoken a word -- I, Jehovah, I have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel.

10 A mbos llevarán el castigo de su iniquidad; como la iniquidad del que consulta será la iniquidad del profeta,

And they have borne their iniquity: as the iniquity of the inquirer, so is the iniquity of the prophet;

11 a fin de que la casa de Israel no se desvíe más de Mí ni se contamine más con todas sus transgresiones. Y ellos serán Mi pueblo y Yo seré su Dios,”’” declara el Señor Dios.

so that the house of Israel do not wander any more from after Me, nor are defiled any more with all their transgressions, and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

12 E ntonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

13 “ Hijo de hombre, si un país peca contra Mí cometiendo infidelidad, y Yo extiendo Mi mano contra él, destruyo su provisión de pan y envío hambre contra él y corto de él hombres y animales,

`Son of man, the land -- when it sinneth against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken for it the staff of bread, and sent into it famine, and cut off from it man and beast --

14 y aunque estos tres hombres, Noé, Daniel y Job, estuvieran en medio de ese país, sólo ellos se salvarían a sí mismos por su justicia,” declara el Señor Dios.

and these three men have been in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job -- they by their righteousness deliver their own soul -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

15 S i Yo hiciera pasar por esa tierra fieras y ellas la despoblaran, y se volviera desolada sin que nadie pasara por ella a causa de las fieras,

`If an evil beast I cause to pass through the land, and it hath bereaved, and it hath been a desolation, without any passing through because of the beast --

16 a unque estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de esa tierra, vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas podrían salvar; sólo ellos se salvarían, pero el país estaría desolado.

these three men in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- neither sons nor daughters do they deliver; they alone are delivered, and the land is a desolation.

17 O si Yo trajera la espada contra ese país, y dijera: ‘Pase la espada por el país,’ y extermino de él hombres y animales,

`Or -- a sword I bring in against that land, and I have said: Sword, thou dost pass over through the land, and I have cut off from it man and beast --

18 y estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de él, vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que no podrían salvar a sus hijos ni a sus hijas; sino que sólo ellos se salvarían.

and these three men in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- they deliver not sons and daughters, for they alone are delivered.

19 O si Yo enviara una plaga contra ese país y derramara Mi furor sobre él con sangre, para cortar de él hombres y animales,

`Or -- pestilence I send unto that land, and I have poured out My fury against it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast --

20 a unque Noé, Daniel y Job estuvieran en medio de él, vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que ni a su hijo ni a su hija podrían salvar; sólo ellos se librarían a sí mismos por su justicia.”

and Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- neither son nor daughter do they deliver; they, by their righteousness, deliver their own soul.

21 P orque así dice el Señor Dios: “¡Cuánto más cuando Yo envíe Mis cuatro terribles juicios contra Jerusalén: espada, hambre, fieras y plaga para exterminar de ella hombres y animales!

`For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Although My four sore judgments -- sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence -- I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

22 S in embargo, en ella quedarán sobrevivientes, hijos e hijas que serán sacados. Saldrán hacia ustedes y verán su conducta y sus obras; entonces serán consolados de la calamidad que he traído contra Jerusalén, de todo lo que he traído sobre ella.

yet, lo, there hath been left in it an escape, who are brought forth, sons and daughters, lo, they are coming forth unto you, and ye have seen their way, and their doings, and have been comforted concerning the evil that I have brought in against Jerusalem, all that which I have brought in against it.

23 Y ellos los consolarán cuando vean sus caminos y sus obras, y sabrán que no he hecho en vano lo que hice en ella,” declara el Señor Dios.

And they have comforted you, for ye see their way and their doings, and ye have known that not for nought have I done all that which I have done in her -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
