1 C ongréguense, congréguense, Oh nación sin pudor,

Bend yourselves, yea, bend ye, O nation not desired,

2 A ntes que entre en vigencia el decreto (como tamo pasa el día ), Antes que venga sobre ustedes El ardor de la ira del Señor, Antes que venga sobre ustedes El día de la ira del Señor.

Before the bringing forth of a statute, As chaff hath the day passed on, While yet not come in upon you doth the heat of the anger of Jehovah, While yet not come in upon you doth a day of the anger of Jehovah,

3 B usquen al Señor, Todos ustedes, humildes de la tierra Que han cumplido Sus preceptos; Busquen la justicia, busquen la humildad. Quizá serán protegidos El día de la ira del Señor.

Seek Jehovah, all ye humble of the land, Who His judgment have done, Seek ye righteousness, seek humility, It may be ye are hidden in a day of the anger of Jehovah.

4 P orque Gaza será abandonada, Y Ascalón desolada; Asdod será expulsada al mediodía, Y Ecrón será desarraigada.

For Gaza is forsaken, And Ashkelon for a desolation, Ashdod! at noon they do cast her forth, And Ekron is rooted up.

5 ¡ Ay de los habitantes de la costa del mar, La nación de los Cereteos! La palabra del Señor está contra ustedes: Canaán, tierra de los Filisteos, Yo te destruiré hasta que no quede habitante alguno.

Ho! O inhabitants of the sea-coast, Nation of the Cherethites, A word of Jehovah against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines, And I have destroyed thee without an inhabitant.

6 Y la costa del mar se convertirá en pastizales (praderas), En campos para pastores y rediles para ovejas.

And the sea-coast hath been habitations, Cottages shepherds, and folds a flock.

7 L a costa será Para el remanente de la casa de Judá; Allí apacentarán Y en las casas de Ascalón reposarán al atardecer; Porque el Señor su Dios los cuidará Y los hará volver de su cautiverio.

And the coast hath been for the remnant of the house of Judah, By them they have pleasure, In houses of Ashkelon at even they lie down, For inspect them doth Jehovah their God, And He hath turned back their captivity.

8 “ He oído las afrentas de Moab Y los ultrajes de los Amonitas, Con los cuales afrentaron a Mi pueblo Y se engrandecieron sobre su territorio.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, And the revilings of the sons of Ammon, Wherewith they reproached My people, And magnify against their border.

9 “ Por tanto, vivo Yo,” declara el Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel “que Moab será como Sodoma, Y Amón como Gomorra: Campo de ortigas y mina de sal, Una desolación perpetua. El remanente de Mi pueblo los saqueará, Y el resto de Mi nación los heredará.”

Therefore, I live, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Surely, Moab is as Sodom, And the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, An overrunning of nettles and salt-pits, And a desolation -- unto the age. A residue of My people do seize them, And a remnant of My nation inherit them.

10 E sto tendrán ellos como pago por su orgullo, porque han afrentado y se han engrandecido sobre el pueblo del Señor de los ejércitos.

This to them for their arrogancy, Because they have reproached, And they magnify against the people of Jehovah of Hosts.

11 T errible será el Señor contra ellos, porque debilitará a todos los dioses de la tierra; y se inclinarán a El todas las costas de las naciones cada una desde su lugar.

Fearful Jehovah against them, For He made bare all gods of the land, And bow themselves to Him, each from his place, Do all islanders of the nations.

12 “ También ustedes, Etíopes, serán muertos por Mi espada.”

Also ye, O Cushim, pierced of My sword they.

13 E l extenderá Su mano contra el norte Y destruirá a Asiria, Y hará de Nínive una desolación, árida como el desierto.

And He stretcheth His hand against the north, And doth destroy Asshur, And he setteth Nineveh for a desolation, A dry land like a wilderness.

14 L os rebaños se echarán en medio de ella, Toda clase de animales. Tanto el pelícano como el erizo Pasarán la noche en los capiteles; El ave cantará en la ventana, Habrá desolación en el umbral, Porque El ha dejado al descubierto el entablado de cedro.

And crouched in her midst have droves, Every beast of the nation, Both pelican and hedge-hog in her knobs lodge, A voice doth sing at the window, `Destruction at the threshold, For the cedar-work is exposed.'

15 E sta es la ciudad divertida Que vivía confiada, Que decía en su corazón: “Yo soy, y no hay otra más que yo.” ¡Cómo ha sido hecha una desolación, Una guarida de fieras! Todo el que pase por ella silbará Y agitará su mano.

This the exulting city that is dwelling confidently, That is saying in her heart, `I, and beside me there is none,' How hath she been for a desolation, A crouching-place for beasts, Every one passing by her doth hiss, He doth shake his hand!
