1 P ablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador, y de Cristo Jesús nuestra esperanza,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Saviour, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

2 a Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz de parte de Dios Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor. Advertencia contra Doctrinas Extrañas

to Timotheus -- genuine child in faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord,

3 T al como te rogué al salir para Macedonia que te quedaras en Efeso para que instruyeras a algunos que no enseñaran doctrinas extrañas,

according as I did exhort thee to remain in Ephesus -- I going on to Macedonia -- that thou mightest charge certain not to teach any other thing,

4 n i prestaran atención a mitos y genealogías interminables, lo que da lugar a discusiones inútiles en vez de hacer avanzar el plan (la dispensación) de Dios que es por fe, así te encargo ahora.

nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than the building up of God that is in faith: --

5 P ero el propósito (la meta) de nuestra instrucción (nuestro mandamiento) es el amor nacido de un corazón puro, de una buena conciencia y de una fe sincera.

And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned,

6 P ues algunos, desviándose de estas cosas, se han apartado hacia una vana palabrería.

from which certain, having swerved, did turn aside to vain discourse,

7 Q uieren ser maestros de la Ley, aunque no saben lo que dicen ni entienden las cosas acerca de las cuales hacen declaraciones categóricas.

willing to be teachers of law, not understanding either the things they say, nor concerning what they asseverate,

8 P ero nosotros sabemos que la Ley es buena, si uno la usa legítimamente.

and we have known that the law good, if any one may use it lawfully;

9 R econozcamos esto: que la ley no ha sido instituida para el justo, sino para los transgresores y rebeldes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los irreverentes y profanos, para los que matan a sus padres o a sus madres, para los asesinos,

having known this, that for a righteous man law is not set, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, parricides and matricides, men-slayers,

10 p ara los inmorales, homosexuales, secuestradores, mentirosos, los que juran en falso, y para cualquier otra cosa que es contraria a la sana doctrina,

whoremongers, sodomites, men-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that to sound doctrine is adverse,

11 s egún el glorioso evangelio del Dios bendito, que me ha sido encomendado. Gratitud de Pablo por la Gracia de Dios

according to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.

12 D oy gracias a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, que me ha fortalecido, porque me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio,

And I give thanks to him who enabled me -- Christ Jesus our Lord -- that he did reckon me stedfast, having put to the ministration,

13 a un habiendo sido yo antes blasfemo, perseguidor y agresor. Sin embargo, se me mostró misericordia porque lo hice por ignorancia en mi incredulidad.

who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did in unbelief,

14 P ero la gracia de nuestro Señor fue más que abundante, con la fe y el amor que se hallan en Cristo Jesús.

and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that in Christ Jesus:

15 P alabra fiel y digna de ser aceptada por todos: Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores, entre los cuales yo soy el primero.

stedfast the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners -- first of whom I am;

16 S in embargo, por esto hallé misericordia, para que en mí, como el primero, Jesucristo demostrara toda Su paciencia como un ejemplo para los que habrían de creer en El para vida eterna.

but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during:

17 P or tanto, al Rey eterno (de los siglos), inmortal, invisible, único Dios, a El sea honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Instrucciones a Timoteo

and to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, honour and glory -- to the ages of the ages! Amen.

18 E sta comisión te confío, hijo Timoteo, conforme a las profecías que antes se hicieron en cuanto a ti, a fin de que por ellas pelees la buena batalla,

This charge I commit to thee, child Timotheus, according to the prophesies that went before upon thee, that thou mayest war in them the good warfare,

19 g uardando la fe y una buena conciencia, que algunos han rechazado y naufragaron en lo que toca a la fe.

having faith and a good conscience, which certain having thrust away, concerning the faith did make shipwreck,

20 E ntre ellos están Himeneo y Alejandro, a quienes he entregado a Satanás, para que aprendan a no blasfemar.

of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I did deliver to the Adversary, that they might be instructed not to speak evil.
