1 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 “ Toma completa venganza sobre los Madianitas por los Israelitas; después serás reunido a tu pueblo.”

`Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites -- afterwards thou art gathered unto thy people.'

3 Y Moisés habló al pueblo y le dijo: “Armen a algunos hombres de entre ustedes para la guerra, a fin de que suban contra Madián para ejecutar la venganza del Señor en Madián.

And Moses speaketh unto the people, saying, `Be ye armed some of you for the host, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of Jehovah on Midian;

4 E nviarán a la guerra 1, 000 de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel.”

a thousand for a tribe -- a thousand for a tribe, to all the tribes of Israel -- ye do send to the host.'

5 E ntonces se prepararon de entre los miles de Israel 1, 000 de cada tribu, 12, 000 hombres armados para la guerra.

And there are given out of the thousands of Israel a thousand for a tribe, twelve thousand armed ones of the host;

6 Y Moisés los envió a la guerra, 1, 000 de cada tribu, y a Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a la guerra con ellos, con los vasos sagrados y las trompetas en su mano para la alarma.

and Moses sendeth them, a thousand for a tribe, to the host, them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, to the host; and the holy vessels, and the trumpets of the shouting, in his hand.

7 L os Israelitas hicieron guerra contra Madián, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés, y mataron a todos los varones.

And they war against Midian, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses, and slay every male;

8 J unto con sus muertos, mataron a los reyes de Madián: Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba, los cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam, hijo de Beor.

and the kings of Midian they have slain, besides their pierced ones, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor, they have slain with the sword.

9 Y los Israelitas tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián y a sus pequeños; y saquearon todo su ganado, todos sus rebaños y todos sus bienes.

And the sons of Israel take captive the women of Midian, and their infants; and all their cattle, and all their substance, and all their wealth they have plundered;

10 D espués prendieron fuego a todas las ciudades donde habitaban y a todos sus campamentos.

and all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, they have burnt with fire.

11 Y tomaron todo el despojo y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de animales.

And they take all the spoil, and all the prey, among man and among beast;

12 L os cautivos, el botín y los despojos los trajeron a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a la congregación de los Israelitas, al campamento en las llanuras de Moab que están junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

and they bring in, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the company of the sons of Israel, the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which by Jordan, Jericho.

13 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, y todos los jefes de la congregación salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.

And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the company, go out to meet them, unto the outside of the camp,

14 M oisés se enojó con los oficiales del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, que volvían del servicio en la guerra,

and Moses is wroth against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the host of the battle.

15 y Moisés les dijo: “¿Han dejado con vida a todas las mujeres ?

And Moses saith unto them, `Have ye kept alive every female?

16 E stas fueron la causa de que los Israelitas, por el consejo de Balaam, fueran infieles al Señor en el asunto de Peor, por lo que hubo plaga entre la congregación del Señor.

lo, they -- they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah.

17 A hora pues, maten a todo varón entre los niños, y maten a toda mujer que haya conocido varón acostándose con él.

`And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain;

18 P ero a todas las jóvenes que no hayan conocido varón acostándose con él, las dejarán con vida para ustedes.

and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves.

19 Y ustedes, acampen fuera del campamento por siete días; todo el que haya matado a una persona y todo el que haya tocado a un muerto, purifíquense, ustedes y sus cautivos, al tercero y al séptimo día.

`And ye, encamp ye at the outside of the camp seven days -- any who hath slain a person, and any who hath come against a pierced one, ye cleanse yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day -- ye and your captives;

20 Y purificarán todo vestido, todo artículo de cuero y toda obra de pelo de cabra y todo objeto de madera.”

and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats', and every wooden vessel, ye yourselves cleanse.'

21 E ntonces el sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que habían ido a la batalla: “Este es el estatuto de la ley que el Señor ha ordenado a Moisés:

And Eleazar the priest saith unto the men of the host who go in to battle, `This the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

22 s ólo el oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,

only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23 t odo lo que resiste el fuego, pasarán por el fuego y será limpio, pero será purificado con el agua para la impureza. Pero todo lo que no resiste el fuego lo pasarán por agua.

every thing which may go into fire, ye cause to pass over through fire, and it hath been clean; only, with the water of separation it is cleansed, and all that may not go into fire, ye cause to pass over through water;

24 Y en el séptimo día lavarán su ropa y serán limpios; después podrán entrar al campamento.”

and ye have washed your garments on the seventh day, and have been clean, and afterwards ye come in unto the camp.'

25 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

26 “ Cuenta el botín que fue tomado tanto de hombres como de animales; tú con el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de las casas paternas de la congregación,

`Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company;

27 y divide en mitades el botín entre los guerreros que salieron a la batalla y toda la congregación.

and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company;

28 Y toma un tributo para el Señor de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la batalla, uno por cada 500 tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas;

and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock;

29 t ómalo de la mitad de ellos, y dáselo al sacerdote Eleazar, como ofrenda al Señor.

from their half ye do take, and thou hast given to Eleazar the priest -- the heave-offering of Jehovah.

30 D e la mitad de los Israelitas tomarás uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas, de cualquier animal, y los darás a los Levitas que guardan el tabernáculo del Señor.”

`And from the sons of Israel's half thou dost take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the asses, and of the flock, of all the cattle, and thou hast given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.'

31 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

And Moses doth -- Eleazar the priest also -- as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

32 Y el botín que quedó del despojo que los hombres de guerra habían tomado fue de 675, 000 ovejas,

And the prey, the residue of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is of the flock six hundred thousand, and seventy thousand, and five thousand;

33 7 2, 000 cabezas de ganado,

and of the herd two and seventy thousand;

34 y 61, 000 asnos;

and of asses one and sixty thousand;

35 y de los seres humanos, de las mujeres que no habían conocido varón acostándose con él, fueron en total 32, 000.

and of human beings -- of the women who have not known the lying of a male -- all the persons two and thirty thousand.

36 Y la mitad, la porción para los que salieron a la guerra, fue de 337, 500 ovejas el número;

And the half -- the portion of those who go out into the host -- the number of the flock is three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, and seven thousand and five hundred.

37 e l tributo al Señor fue de 675 ovejas;

And the tribute to Jehovah of the sheep is six hundred five and seventy;

38 y las cabezas de ganado, 36, 000 de las cuales el tributo al Señor fue de 72;

and the herd six and thirty thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah two and seventy;

39 y los asnos, 30, 500 de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de 61.

and the asses thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to Jehovah one and sixty;

40 Y los seres humanos, 16, 000 de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de 32 personas.

and the human beings sixteen thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah two and thirty persons.

41 M oisés dio el tributo, que era la ofrenda del Señor, al sacerdote Eleazar, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

And Moses giveth the tribute -- Jehovah's heave-offering -- to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

42 E n cuanto a la mitad para los Israelitas, que Moisés había apartado de los hombres que habían ido a la guerra,

And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses halved from the men who war --

43 l a mitad del botín de la congregación fue de 337, 500 ovejas,

and the company's half is, of the flock three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred;

44 3 6, 000 cabezas de ganado,

and of the herd six and thirty thousand;

45 3 0, 500 asnos,

and of asses thirty thousand and five hundred;

46 y 16, 000 seres humanos.

and of human beings sixteen thousand --

47 D e la mitad del botín de los Israelitas, Moisés tomó uno de cada 50, tanto de hombres como de animales, y se los dio a los Levitas, los cuales estaban encargados del tabernáculo del Señor, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

Moses taketh from the sons of Israel's half the one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and giveth them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

48 E ntonces los oficiales que estaban sobre los miles del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, se acercaron a Moisés;

And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host hath, (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near unto Moses,

49 y dijeron a Moisés: “Tus siervos han levantado un censo de los hombres de guerra que están a nuestro cargo, y no falta ninguno de nosotros.

and they say unto Moses, `Thy servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who with us, and not a man of us hath been missed;

50 P or tanto, hemos traído al Señor, como ofrenda, lo que cada hombre ha hallado: objetos de oro, pulseras, brazaletes, anillos, pendientes y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros ante el Señor.”

and we bring near Jehovah's offering, each that which he hath found, vessels of gold -- chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, -ring, and bead -- to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.'

51 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y toda clase de objetos labrados.

And Moses receiveth -- Eleazar the priest also -- the gold from them, every made vessel,

52 Y el total del oro de la ofrenda que ellos ofrecieron al Señor, de los capitanes de miles y de los capitanes de cientos, fue de 16, 750 siclos (191 kilos).

and all the gold of the heave-offering which they have lifted up to Jehovah is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands, and from heads of the hundreds;

53 L os hombres de guerra habían tomado botín, cada hombre tomó algo para sí mismo.

(the men of the host have spoiled each for himself);

54 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los capitanes de miles y de cientos, y lo llevaron a la tienda de reunión como memorial para los Israelitas delante del Señor.

and Moses taketh -- Eleazar the priest also -- the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it in unto the tent of meeting -- a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.
