1 S ométase toda persona a las autoridades que gobiernan. Porque no hay autoridad sino de Dios, y las que existen, por Dios son constituidas.

Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God,

2 P or tanto, el que resiste a la autoridad, a lo ordenado por Dios se ha opuesto; y los que se han opuesto, recibirán condenación sobre sí mismos.

so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God's ordinance hath resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment.

3 P orque los gobernantes no son motivo de temor para los de buena conducta, sino para el que hace el mal. ¿Deseas, pues, no temer a la autoridad? Haz lo bueno y tendrás elogios de ella,

For those ruling are not a terror to the good works, but to the evil; and dost thou wish not to be afraid of the authority? that which is good be doing, and thou shalt have praise from it,

4 p ues es para ti un ministro (servidor) de Dios para bien. Pero si haces lo malo, teme. Porque no en vano lleva la espada, pues es ministro de Dios, un vengador que castiga al que practica lo malo.

for of God it is a ministrant to thee for good; and if that which is evil thou mayest do, be fearing, for not in vain doth it bear the sword; for of God it is a ministrant, an avenger for wrath to him who is doing that which is evil.

5 P or tanto, es necesario someterse, no sólo por razón del castigo, sino también por causa de la conciencia.

Wherefore it is necessary to be subject, not only because of the wrath, but also because of the conscience,

6 P ues por esto también ustedes pagan impuestos, porque los gobernantes son servidores de Dios, dedicados precisamente a esto.

for because of this also pay ye tribute; for servants of God they are, on this very thing attending continually;

7 P aguen a todos lo que deban: al que impuesto, impuesto; al que tributo, tributo; al que temor, temor; al que honor, honor. El Amor, Cumplimiento de la Ley

render, therefore, to all dues; to whom tribute, the tribute; to whom custom, the custom; to whom fear, the fear; to whom honour, the honour.

8 N o deban a nadie nada, sino el amarse unos a otros. Porque el que ama a su prójimo, ha cumplido la ley.

To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other -- law he hath fulfilled,

9 P orque esto: “ No cometeras adulterio, no mataras, no hurtaras, no codiciaras,” y cualquier otro mandamiento, en estas palabras se resume: “ Amaras a tu projimo como a ti mismo.”

for, `Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false testimony, Thou shalt not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;'

10 E l amor no hace mal al prójimo. Por tanto, el amor es el cumplimiento de la ley. Se Acerca el Amanecer

the love to the neighbor doth work no ill; the love, therefore, the fulness of law.

11 Y hagan todo esto, conociendo el tiempo, que ya es hora de despertarse del sueño. Porque ahora la salvación está más cerca de nosotros que cuando creímos.

And this, knowing the time, that for us, the hour already to be aroused out of sleep, for now nearer our salvation than when we did believe;

12 L a noche está muy avanzada, y el día está cerca. Por tanto, desechemos las obras de las tinieblas y vistámonos con las armas de la luz.

the night did advance, and the day came nigh; let us lay aside, therefore, the works of the darkness, and let us put on the armour of the light;

13 A ndemos decentemente, como de día, no en orgías y borracheras, no en promiscuidad sexual y lujurias, no en pleitos y envidias.

as in day-time, let us walk becomingly; not in revellings and drunkennesses, not in chamberings and lasciviousnesses, not in strife and emulation;

14 A ntes bien, vístanse del Señor Jesucristo, y no piensen en proveer para las lujurias de la carne.

but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought -- for desires.
