1 L lamando a Sus doce discípulos, Jesús les dio poder (autoridad) sobre los espíritus inmundos para expulsarlos y para sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.

And having called to him his twelve disciples, he gave to them power over unclean spirits, so as to be casting them out, and to be healing every sickness, and every malady.

2 L os nombres de los doce apóstoles son éstos: primero, Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; y Jacobo (Santiago), el hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano;

And of the twelve apostles the names are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James of Zebedee, and John his brother;

3 F elipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el recaudador de impuestos; Jacobo (Santiago), el hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo;

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax-gatherer; James of Alpheus, and Lebbeus who was surnamed Thaddeus;

4 S imón el Cananita (el Zelote), y Judas Iscariote, el que también Lo entregó. Jesús Envía a los Doce

Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who did also deliver him up.

5 A estos doce envió Jesús después de instruirlos, diciendo: “No vayan por el camino de los Gentiles ni entren en ninguna ciudad de los Samaritanos.

These twelve did Jesus send forth, having given command to them, saying, `To the way of the nations go not away, and into a city of the Samaritans go not in,

6 S ino vayan más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.

and be going rather unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 Y cuando vayan, prediquen diciendo: ‘El reino de los cielos se ha acercado.’

`And, going on, proclaim saying that, the reign of the heavens hath come nigh;

8 S anen enfermos, resuciten muertos, limpien leprosos, expulsen demonios; de gracia recibieron, den de gracia.

infirm ones be healing, lepers be cleansing, dead be raising, demons be casting out -- freely ye did receive, freely give.

9 N o se provean de oro, ni de plata, ni de cobre para llevar en sus cintos,

`Provide not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles,

10 n i de alforja para el camino, ni de dos túnicas, ni de sandalias, ni de bordón; porque el obrero es digno de su sostén.

nor scrip for the way, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff -- for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.

11 E n cualquier ciudad o aldea donde entren, averigüen quién es digno en ella, y quédense allí hasta que se marchen.

`And into whatever city or village ye may enter, inquire ye who in it is worthy, and there abide, till ye may go forth.

12 A l entrar en la casa, denle su saludo de paz.

And coming to the house salute it,

13 Y si la casa es digna, que su saludo de paz venga sobre ella; pero si no es digna, que su saludo de paz se vuelva a ustedes.

and if indeed the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; and if it be not worthy, let your peace turn back to you.

14 C ualquiera que no los reciba ni oiga sus palabras, al salir de esa casa o de esa ciudad, sacudan el polvo de sus pies.

`And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet,

15 E n verdad les digo que en el día del juicio será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma y Gomorra que para esa ciudad. Advertencias a los Doce

verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

16 “ Miren, Yo los envío como ovejas en medio de lobos; por tanto, sean astutos como las serpientes e inocentes como las palomas.

`Lo, I do send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be ye therefore wise as the serpents, and simple as the doves.

17 P ero cuídense de los hombres, porque los entregarán a los tribunales (sanedrines) y los azotarán en sus sinagogas;

And, take ye heed of men, for they will give you up to sanhedrims, and in their synagogues they will scourge you,

18 y hasta serán llevados delante de gobernadores y reyes por Mi causa, como un testimonio a ellos y a los Gentiles.

and before governors and kings ye shall be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.

19 P ero cuando los entreguen, no se preocupen de cómo o qué hablarán; porque a esa hora se les dará lo que habrán de hablar.

`And whenever they may deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye may speak, for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak;

20 P orque no son ustedes los que hablan, sino el Espíritu de su Padre que habla en ustedes.

for ye are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father that is speaking in you.

21 “ El hermano entregará a la muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra los padres, y les causarán la muerte.

`And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children shall rise up against parents, and shall put them to death,

22 Y serán odiados de todos por causa de Mi nombre, pero el que persevere hasta el fin, ése será salvo.

and ye shall be hated by all because of my name, but he who hath endured to the end, he shall be saved.

23 P ero cuando los persigan en esta ciudad, huyan a la otra; porque en verdad les digo, que no terminarán de recorrer las ciudades de Israel antes que venga el Hijo del Hombre. Palabras de Aliento a los Doce

`And whenever they may persecute you in this city, flee to the other, for verily I say to you, ye may not have completed the cities of Israel till the Son of Man may come.

24 “ Un discípulo no está por encima del maestro, ni un siervo por encima de su señor.

`A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord;

25 L e basta al discípulo llegar a ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si al dueño de la casa lo han llamado Beelzebú, ¡cuánto más a los de su casa!

sufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they did call Beelzeboul, how much more those of his household?

26 “ Así que no les tengan miedo, porque nada hay encubierto que no haya de ser revelado, ni oculto que no haya de saberse.

`Ye may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known;

27 L o que les digo en la oscuridad, háblenlo en la luz; y lo que oyen al oído, proclámenlo desde las azoteas.

that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.

28 N o teman a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma; más bien teman a Aquél que puede hacer perecer tanto el alma como el cuerpo en el infierno.

`And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.

29 ¿ No se venden dos pajarillos por una monedita ? Y sin embargo, ni uno de ellos caerá a tierra sin permitirlo el Padre.

`Are not two sparrows sold for an assar? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father;

30 Y hasta los cabellos de la cabeza de ustedes están todos contados.

and of you -- even the hairs of the head are all numbered;

31 A sí que no teman; ustedes valen más que muchos pajarillos.

be not therefore afraid, than many sparrows ye are better.

32 “ Por tanto, todo el que Me confiese delante de los hombres, Yo también lo confesaré delante de Mi Padre que está en los cielos.

`Every one, therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess in him before my Father who is in the heavens;

33 P ero cualquiera que Me niegue delante de los hombres, Yo también lo negaré delante de Mi Padre que está en los cielos. El Costo del Discipulado

and whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.

34 “ No piensen que vine a traer paz a la tierra; no vine a traer paz, sino espada.

`Ye may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;

35 P orque vine a poner al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre, y a la nuera contra su suegra;

for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

36 y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su misma casa.

and the enemies of a man are those of his household.

37 “ El que ama al padre o a la madre más que a Mí, no es digno de Mí; y el que ama al hijo o a la hija más que a Mí, no es digno de Mí.

`He who is loving father or mother above me, is not worthy of me, and he who is loving son or daughter above me, is not worthy of me,

38 Y el que no toma su cruz y sigue en pos de Mí, no es digno de Mí.

and whoever doth not receive his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.

39 E l que ha hallado su vida, la perderá; y el que ha perdido su vida por Mi causa, la hallará.

`He who found his life shall lose it, and he who lost his life for my sake shall find it.

40 “ El que los recibe a ustedes, Me recibe a Mí; y el que Me recibe a Mí, recibe al que Me envió.

`He who is receiving you doth receive me, and he who is receiving me doth receive Him who sent me,

41 E l que recibe a un profeta como profeta, recibirá recompensa de profeta; y el que recibe a un justo como justo, recibirá recompensa de justo.

he who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward,

42 Y cualquiera que como discípulo dé a beber aunque sólo sea un vaso de agua fría a uno de estos pequeños, en verdad les digo que no perderá su recompensa.”

and whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he may not lose his reward.'
