1 P alabra que vino a Jeremías de parte del Señor, diciendo:

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

2 “ Párate a la puerta de la casa del Señor y proclama allí esta palabra, y di: ‘Oigan la palabra del Señor, todos los de Judá, los que entran por estas puertas para adorar al Señor.’”

Stand in the gate of the house of Jehovah, and thou hast proclaimed there this word, and hast said, Hear a word of Jehovah, all ye of Judah, who are coming in at these gates, to bow before Jehovah:

3 A sí dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “Enmienden sus caminos y sus obras, y haré que ustedes moren en este lugar.

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Amend your ways, and your doings, And I cause you to dwell in this place.

4 N o confíen en palabras engañosas que dicen: ‘Este es el templo del Señor, el templo del Señor, el templo del Señor.’

Do not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, The temple of Jehovah they!

5 P orque si en verdad enmiendan sus caminos y sus obras, si en verdad hacen justicia entre el hombre y su prójimo,

For, if ye do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If ye do judgment thoroughly Between a man and his neighbour,

6 y no oprimen al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda, ni derraman sangre inocente en este lugar, ni andan en pos de otros dioses para su propia ruina,

Sojourner, fatherless, and widow, ye oppress not, And innocent blood do not shed in this place, And after other gods do not walk, for evil to yourselves,

7 e ntonces haré que moren en este lugar, en la tierra que di a sus padres para siempre.

Then I have caused you to dwell in this place, In the land that I gave to your fathers, From age even unto age.

8 “ Ustedes confían en palabras engañosas que no aprovechan.

Lo, ye are trusting for yourselves On the words of falsehood, so as not to profit.

9 ¿ Robarán, matarán, cometerán adulterio, jurarán falsamente, ofrecerán sacrificios a Baal y andarán en pos de otros dioses que no habían conocido ?

Stealing, murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and giving perfume to Baal, And going after other gods whom ye knew not.

10 “ ¿Y vendrán luego y se pondrán delante de Mí en esta casa, que es llamada por Mi nombre, y dirán: ‘Ya estamos salvos’; para después seguir haciendo todas estas abominaciones ?

And ye have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, `We have been delivered,' In order to do all these abominations.

11 ¿ Se ha convertido esta casa, que es llamada por Mi nombre, en cueva de ladrones delante de sus ojos ? Yo mismo lo he visto,” declara el Señor.

A den of burglars hath this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Jehovah.

12 “ Ahora pues, vayan a Mi lugar en Silo, donde al principio hice morar Mi nombre, y vean lo que hice con él a causa de la maldad de Mi pueblo Israel.

But go ye, I pray you, Unto My place that in Shiloh, Where I caused My name to dwell at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness of My people Israel.

13 “ Y ahora, por cuanto han hecho todas estas obras,” declara el Señor, “y a pesar de que les hablé desde temprano y hablando sin cesar, no oyeron; los llamé, pero no respondieron.

And now, because of your doing all these works, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, And ye have not hearkened, And I call you, and ye have not answered,

14 “ Como hice con Silo, así haré con la casa que es llamada por Mi nombre, en la cual confían, y al lugar que di a ustedes y a sus padres.

I also to the house on which My name is called, In which ye are trusting, And to the place that I gave to you, and to your fathers, Have done, as I have done to Shiloh.

15 Y los echaré de Mi presencia, como eché a todos sus hermanos, a toda la descendencia de Efraín. Abominación y Castigo

And I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your brethren, The whole seed of Ephraim.

16 “ En cuanto a ti, no ruegues por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración, ni intercedas ante Mí, porque no te oiré.

And thou dost not pray for this people, Nor lift up for them crying and prayer, Nor intercede with Me, for I hear thee not.

17 ¿ No ves lo que ellos hacen en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén?

Art thou not seeing what they are doing In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem?

18 L os hijos recogen la leña, los padres encienden el fuego, las mujeres preparan la masa para hacer tortas a la reina del cielo, y derraman libaciones a otros dioses para ofenderme.”

The sons are gathering wood, And the fathers are causing the fire to burn, And the women are kneading dough, To make cakes to the queen of the heavens, And to pour out libations to other gods, So as to provoke Me to anger.

19 “ ¿Me ofenden a Mí ?” declara el Señor “¿No es a sí mismos que se ofenden para su propia vergüenza ?”

Me are they provoking to anger? an affirmation of Jehovah, Is it not themselves, For the shame of their own faces?

20 P or tanto, así dice el Señor Dios: “Mi ira y mi furor serán derramados sobre este lugar, sobre los hombres y sobre los animales, sobre los árboles del campo y sobre el fruto de la tierra; arderá y no se apagará.”

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, Mine anger and My fury is poured out on this place, On man, and beast, and on tree of the field, And on fruit of the ground, And it hath burned, and it is not quenched.

21 A sí dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “Añadan sus holocaustos a sus sacrificios y coman la carne.

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Your burnt-offerings add to your sacrifices, And eat ye flesh.

22 P orque Yo no hablé a sus padres, ni les ordené nada en cuanto a los holocaustos y sacrificios, el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto.

For I did not speak with your fathers, Nor did I command them in the day of My bringing them out of the land of Egypt, Concerning the matters of burnt-offering and sacrifice,

23 S ino que esto es lo que les ordené: ‘Escuchen Mi voz (Obedézcanme) y Yo seré su Dios y ustedes serán Mi pueblo, y andarán en todo camino por el que Yo los envíe para que les vaya bien.’

But this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to My voice, And I have been to you for God, And ye -- ye are to Me for a people, And have walked in all the way that I command you, So that it is well for you.

24 “ Pero ellos no escucharon ni inclinaron su oído, sino que anduvieron en sus propias deliberaciones y en la terquedad de su malvado corazón, y fueron hacia atrás y no hacia adelante.

And they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, And they walk in the counsels, In the stubbornness, of their evil heart, And are for backward, and not for forward.

25 D esde el día que los padres de ustedes salieron de la tierra de Egipto hasta hoy, les he enviado a todos Mis siervos los profetas, madrugando cada día y enviándo los.

Even from the day when your fathers Went out of the land of Egypt till this day, I send to you all my servants the prophets, Daily rising early and sending,

26 P ero no Me escucharon ni inclinaron su oído, sino que fueron tercos e hicieron peor que sus padres.

And they have not hearkened unto Me, Nor inclined their ear, and harden their neck, They have done evil above their fathers.

27 “ Les dirás, pues, todas estas palabras, pero no te escucharán; los llamarás, y no te responderán.

And thou hast spoken unto them all these words, And they do not hearken to thee, And thou hast called unto them, And they do not answer thee.

28 E ntonces les dirás: ‘Esta es la nación que no escuchó la voz del Señor su Dios, ni aceptó corrección; ha perecido la verdad, ha sido eliminada de su boca.

And thou hast said unto them: This the nation that hath not hearkened, To the voice of Jehovah its God, Nor have they accepted instruction, Perished hath stedfastness, Yea, it hath been cut off from their mouth.

29 C órtate el cabello y tíra lo, Y entona una endecha en las alturas desoladas; Porque el Señor ha desechado y abandonado A la generación objeto de Su furor.’

Cut off thy crown, and cast away, And lift up on high places lamentation, For Jehovah hath rejected, And He leaveth the generation of His wrath.

30 P orque los hijos de Judá han hecho lo que es malo ante Mis ojos,” declara el Señor, “han puesto sus abominaciones en la casa que es llamada por Mi nombre, profanándola.

For the sons of Judah Have done the evil thing in Mine eyes, An affirmation of Jehovah, They have set their abominations in the house On which My name is called -- to defile it,

31 Y han edificado los lugares altos de Tofet, que está en el Valle de Ben Hinom, para quemar a sus hijos y a sus hijas en el fuego, lo cual Yo no mandé, ni me pasó por la mente.”

And have built the high places of Tophet, That in the valley of the son of Hinnom, To burn their sons and their daughters with fire, Which I did not command, Nor did it come up on My heart.

32 “ Por tanto, vienen días,” declara el Señor “cuando no se dirá más Tofet, ni Valle de Ben Hinom, sino el Valle de la Matanza; porque enterrarán en Tofet por no haber otro lugar.

Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it is not said any more, `The Tophet,' And `Valley of the son of Hinnom,' But `Valley of the slaughter,' And they have buried in Tophet -- without place.

33 Y los cadáveres de este pueblo servirán de comida para las aves del cielo y para las bestias de la tierra, sin que nadie las espante.

And the carcase of this people hath been for food To a fowl of the heavens, and to a beast of the earth, And there is none troubling.

34 E ntonces haré cesar de las ciudades de Judá y de las calles de Jerusalén la voz de gozo y la voz de alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia; porque la tierra quedará desolada.”

And I have caused to cease from cities of Judah, And from streets of Jerusalem, The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, Voice of bridegroom, and voice of bride, For the land doth become a desolation!
