1 E n los días de David hubo hambre por tres años consecutivos, y David buscó la presencia del Señor. Y el Señor dijo: “Es por causa de Saúl y de su casa sangrienta, porque él dio muerte a los Gabaonitas.”

And there is a famine in the days of David three years, year after year, and David seeketh the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah saith, `For Saul and for the bloody house, because that he put to death the Gibeonites.'

2 Y llamó el rey a los Gabaonitas y les habló. (Los Gabaonitas no eran de los Israelitas, sino del remanente de los Amorreos, y los Israelitas habían hecho un pacto con ellos, pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los Israelitas y los de Judá.)

And the king calleth for the Gibeonites, and saith unto them -- as to the Gibeonites, they not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorite, and the sons of Israel had sworn to them, and Saul seeketh to smite them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah --

3 D ijo, pues, David a los Gabaonitas: “¿Qué debo hacer por ustedes? ¿Y cómo haré restitución para que bendigan la heredad del Señor ?”

yea, David saith unto the Gibeonites, `What do I do for you? and with what do I make atonement? and bless ye the inheritance of Jehovah.'

4 E ntonces los Gabaonitas le respondieron: “No nos importa la plata ni el oro de Saúl o de su casa, ni nos corresponde dar muerte a ningún hombre en Israel.” “Haré por ustedes lo que digan,” les dijo el rey.

And the Gibeonites say to him, `We have no silver and gold by Saul and by his house, and we have no man to put to death in Israel;' and he saith, `What ye are saying I do to you.'

5 Y ellos dijeron al rey: “Del hombre que nos consumió y que trató de exterminarnos para que no quedáramos dentro del territorio de Israel,

And they say unto the king, `The man who consumed us, and who devised against us -- we have been destroyed from stationing ourselves in all the border of Israel --

6 q ue nos entreguen siete hombres de entre sus hijos, y los ahorcaremos delante del Señor en Guibeá de Saúl, el elegido del Señor.” “ Los entregaré,” dijo el rey.

let there be given to us seven men of his sons, and we have hanged them before Jehovah, in the height of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah.' And the king saith, `I do give;'

7 P ero el rey perdonó a Mefiboset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, a causa del pacto del Señor que había entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl.

and the king hath pity on Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, because of the oath of Jehovah that between them, between David and Jonathan son of Saul;

8 E l rey tomó a los dos hijos de Rizpa, hija de Aja, Armoni y Mefiboset, que ella había dado a Saúl, y a los cinco hijos de Merab, hija de Saúl, que ella había dado a Adriel, hijo de Barzilai el Meholatita,

and the king taketh the two sons of Rizpah daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth, and the five sons of Michal daughter of Saul whom she bare to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite,

9 E ntonces los entregó en manos de los Gabaonitas, que los ahorcaron en el monte delante del Señor, de modo que los siete cayeron a la vez. Les dieron muerte en los primeros días de la cosecha, al comienzo de la cosecha de la cebada.

and giveth them into the hand of the Gibeonites, and they hang them in the hill before Jehovah; and the seven fall together, and they have been put to death in the days of harvest, in the first, the commencement of barley-harvest.

10 Y Rizpa, hija de Aja, tomó tela de cilicio y lo tendió para sí sobre la roca, desde el comienzo de la cosecha hasta que llovió del cielo sobre ellos; y no permitió que las aves del cielo se posaran sobre ellos de día ni las fieras del campo de noche.

And Rizpah daughter of Aiah taketh the sackcloth, and stretcheth it out for herself on the rock, from the commencement of harvest till water hath been poured out upon them from the heavens, and hath not suffered a fowl of the heavens to rest upon them by day, or the beast of the field by night.

11 C uando le contaron a David lo que había hecho Rizpa, hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl,

And it is declared to David that which Rizpah daughter of Aiah, concubine of Saul, hath done,

12 D avid fue y recogió los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, que estaban en posesión de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, quienes los habían robado de la plaza de Bet Sán, donde los Filisteos los habían colgado el día que los Filisteos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa.

and David goeth and taketh the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son, from the possessors of Jabesh-Gilead, who had stolen them from the broad place of Beth-Shan, where the Philistines hanged them, in the day of the Philistines smiting Saul in Gilboa;

13 D avid trajo de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de su hijo Jonatán, y recogieron también los huesos de los ahorcados.

and he bringeth up thence the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son, and they gather the bones of those hanged,

14 E ntonces sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zela, en el sepulcro de su padre Cis, e hicieron todo lo que el rey había ordenado. Después de esto Dios fue movido a misericordia para con la tierra. Guerras contra los Filisteos

and bury the bones of Saul and of Jonathan his son in the land of Benjamin, in Zelah, in the burying-place of Kish his father, and do all that the king commanded, and God is entreated for the land afterwards.

15 D e nuevo hubo guerra entre los Filisteos e Israel. Descendió David con sus siervos, y mientras peleaban contra los Filisteos, David se cansó.

And again have the Philistines war with Israel, and David goeth down, and his servants with him, and they fight with the Philistines; and David is weary,

16 E ntonces Isbi Benob, que era de los descendientes del gigante, y cuya lanza pesaba 300 siclos (3. 4 kilos) de bronce, y que estaba ceñido con una espada nueva, trató de matar a David;

and Ishbi-Benob, who among the children of the giant -- the weight of his spear three hundred weight of brass, and he is girded with a new one -- speaketh of smiting David,

17 p ero Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, vino en su ayuda, e hirió al Filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron: “Nunca más saldrá a la batalla con nosotros, para que no apague la lámpara de Israel.”

and Abishai son of Zeruiah giveth help to him, and smiteth the Philistine, and putteth him to death; then swear the men of David to him, saying, `Thou dost not go out again with us to battle, nor quench the lamp of Israel.'

18 D espués de esto otra vez hubo guerra en Gob contra los Filisteos. Entonces Sibecai el Husatita mató a Saf, que era de los descendientes del gigante.

And it cometh to pass afterwards, that the battle is again in Gob with the Philistines, then hath Sibbechai the Hushathite smitten Saph, who among the children of the giant.

19 D e nuevo hubo guerra contra los Filisteos en Gob, y Elhanán, hijo de Jaare Oregim, de Belén (Casa del Pan), mató a Goliat el Geteo. El asta de su lanza era como un rodillo de tejedor.

And the battle is again in Gob with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim, the Beth-Lehemite, smiteth Goliath the Gittite, and the wood of his spear like a beam of weavers.

20 H ubo guerra otra vez en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura que tenía seis dedos en cada mano y seis dedos en cada pie, veinticuatro en total. El también descendía del gigante.

And the battle is again in Gath, and there is a man of stature, and the fingers of his hands six, and the toes of his feet six, twenty and four in number, and he also hath been born to the giant,

21 C uando desafió a Israel, lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simea, hermano de David.

and he reproacheth Israel, and smite him doth Jonathan son of Shimeah, brother of David;

22 E stos cuatro descendían del gigante en Gat y cayeron por mano de David y por mano de sus siervos.

these four have been born to the giant in Gath, and they fall by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
