1 C uando llegó el mes séptimo, y ya estando los Israelitas en las ciudades, el pueblo se reunió como un solo hombre en Jerusalén.

And the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

2 E ntonces Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, con sus hermanos los sacerdotes, y Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, con sus hermanos, se levantaron y edificaron el altar del Dios de Israel, para ofrecer holocaustos sobre él, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, hombre de Dios.

And rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

3 A sentaron el altar sobre su base, porque estaban aterrorizados a causa de los pueblos de aquellas tierras; y sobre él ofrecieron holocaustos al Señor, los holocaustos de la mañana y de la tarde.

And they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

4 C elebraron la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos (de las Enramadas) como está escrito, con el número diario de holocaustos, conforme a lo prescrito para cada día;

And they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

5 y después ofrecieron el holocausto continuo, y los de las lunas nuevas, los de todas las fiestas señaladas del Señor que habían sido consagradas, y los de todos aquéllos que ofrecían una ofrenda voluntaria al Señor.

and after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

6 D esde el primer día del mes séptimo comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos al Señor, pero los cimientos del templo del Señor no se habían echado todavía.

From the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

7 E ntonces dieron dinero a los canteros y a los carpinteros, y alimento, bebida y aceite a los Sidonios y a los Tirios para que trajeran madera de cedro desde el Líbano por mar hasta Jope, conforme al permiso que tenían de Ciro, rey de Persia.

and they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

8 Y en el segundo año de su llegada a la casa de Dios en Jerusalén, en el mes segundo, Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, y Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, y los demás de sus hermanos los sacerdotes y los Levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén, comenzaron la obra y designaron a los Levitas de veinte años arriba para dirigir la obra de la casa del Señor.

And in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

9 E ntonces Jesúa, con sus hijos y sus hermanos, Cadmiel con sus hijos, los hijos de Judá y los hijos de Henadad con sus hijos y sus hermanos los Levitas, se presentaron todos a una para dirigir a los obreros en la casa de Dios.

And Jeshua standeth, his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brethren the Levites.

10 C uando los albañiles terminaron de echar los cimientos del templo del Señor, se presentaron los sacerdotes en sus vestiduras, con trompetas, y los Levitas, hijos de Asaf, con címbalos, para alabar al Señor conforme a las instrucciones del rey David de Israel.

And those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of David king of Israel.

11 Y cantaban, alabando y dando gracias al Señor: “Porque El es bueno, porque para siempre es Su misericordia sobre Israel.” Y todo el pueblo aclamaba a gran voz alabando al Señor porque se habían echado los cimientos de la casa del Señor.

And they respond in praising and in giving thanks to Jehovah, for good, for to the age His kindness over Israel, and all the people have shouted -- a great shout -- in giving praise to Jehovah, because the house of Jehovah hath been founded.

12 P ero muchos sacerdotes y Levitas y jefes de casas paternas, que ya eran ancianos y que habían visto el primer templo, cuando se echaban los cimientos de este templo delante de sus ojos, lloraban en alta voz mientras muchos daban gritos de alegría.

And many of the priests, and the Levites, and the heads of the fathers, the aged men who had seen the first house -- in this house being founded before their eyes -- are weeping with a loud voice, and many with a shout, in joy, lifting up the voice;

13 A sí que el pueblo no podía distinguir entre el clamor de los gritos de alegría y el clamor del llanto del pueblo, porque el pueblo gritaba en voz alta, y se oía el clamor desde lejos.

and the people are not discerning the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people, for the people are shouting -- a great shout -- and the noise hath been heard unto a distance.
