1 “ Ustedes son hijos del Señor su Dios; no se sajarán ni se rasurarán la frente a causa de un muerto.

`Sons ye to Jehovah your God; ye do not cut yourselves, nor make baldness between your eyes for the dead;

2 P orque eres pueblo santo para el Señor tu Dios; y el Señor te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo de Su exclusiva posesión de entre los pueblos que están sobre la superficie de la tierra.

for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God, and on thee hath Jehovah fixed to be to Him for a people, a peculiar treasure, out of all the peoples who on the face of the ground.

3 N o comerás nada abominable.

`Thou dost not eat any abominable thing;

4 E stos son los animales que ustedes podrán comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,

`this the beast which ye do eat: ox, lamb of the sheep, or kid of the goats,

5 e l ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés.

hart, and roe, and fallow deer, and wild goat, and pygarg, and wild ox, and chamois;

6 Y cualquier animal de pezuña dividida que tenga la pezuña hendida en dos mitades y que rumie, lo podrán comer.

and every beast dividing the hoof, and cleaving the cleft into two hoofs, bringing up the cud, among the beasts -- it ye do eat.

7 P ero éstos no comerán de entre los que rumian o de entre los que tienen la pezuña dividida en dos: el camello, el conejo y el damán; pues aunque rumian, no tienen la pezuña dividida; para ustedes serán inmundos.

`Only, this ye do not eat, of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit, for they are bringing up the cud but the hoof have not divided; unclean they to you;

8 E l cerdo, aunque tiene la pezuña dividida, no rumia; será inmundo para ustedes. No comerán de su carne ni tocarán sus cadáveres.

and the sow, for it is dividing the hoof, and not up the cud, unclean it to you; of their flesh ye do not eat, and against their carcase ye do not come.

9 “ De todo lo que vive en el agua, éstos podrán comer: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas,

`This ye do eat of all that in the waters; all that hath fins and scales ye do eat;

10 p ero no comerán nada que no tenga aletas ni escamas; será inmundo para ustedes.

and anything which hath not fins and scales ye do not eat; unclean it to you.

11 “ Toda ave limpia podrán comer.

`Any clean bird ye do eat;

12 P ero éstas no comerán: el águila, el buitre y el buitre negro;

and these they of which ye do not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

13 e l azor, el halcón y el milano según su especie;

and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after its kind,

14 t odo cuervo según su especie;

and every raven after its kind;

15 e l avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según su especie;

and the owl, and the night-hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after its kind;

16 e l búho, el búho real, la lechuza blanca,

the owl, and the owl, and the swan,

17 e l pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo,

and the pelican, and the gier-eagle, and the cormorant,

18 l a cigüeña y la garza según su especie; la abubilla y el murciélago.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the lapwing, and the bat;

19 T odo insecto alado será inmundo para ustedes; no se comerá.

and every teeming thing which is flying, unclean it to you; they are not eaten;

20 T oda ave limpia podrán comer.

any clean fowl ye do eat.

21 “ No comerán ningún animal que se muera. Lo podrás dar al extranjero que está en tus ciudades, para que lo coma, o lo podrás vender a un extranjero, porque tú eres un pueblo santo al Señor tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre. Leyes Acerca del Diezmo

`Ye do not eat of any carcase; to the sojourner who within thy gates thou dost give it, and he hath eaten it; or sell to a stranger; for a holy people thou to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 “ Fielmente diezmarás todo el producto de tu siembra, lo que rinda tu campo cada año.

`Thou dost certainly tithe all the increase of thy seed which the field is bringing forth year by year;

23 C omerás en la presencia del Señor tu Dios, en el lugar que El escoja para poner allí Su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino nuevo y de tu aceite, y los primogénitos de tus vacas y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer siempre al Señor tu Dios.

and thou hast eaten before Jehovah thy God, in the place where He doth choose to cause His name to tabernacle, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd, and of thy flock, so that thou dost learn to fear Jehovah thy God all the days.

24 P ero si el camino es tan largo para ti, que no seas capaz de llevar el diezmo por estar lejos el lugar donde el Señor tu Dios escoja para poner allí Su nombre, cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya bendecido,

`And when the way is too much for thee, that thou art not able to carry it -- when the place is too far off from thee which Jehovah thy God doth choose to put His name there, when Jehovah thy God doth bless thee; --

25 e ntonces lo cambiarás por dinero, y atarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoja.

then thou hast given in money, and hast bound up the money in thy hand, and gone unto the place on which Jehovah thy God doth fix;

26 P odrás gastar el dinero en todo lo que tu corazón apetezca: en vacas u ovejas, en vino o sidra, o en cualquier otra cosa que tu corazón desee; allí comerás en presencia del Señor tu Dios, y te alegrarás tú y tu casa.

and thou hast given the money for any thing which thy soul desireth, for oxen, and for sheep, and for wine, and for strong drink, and for any thing which thy soul asketh, and thou hast eaten there before Jehovah thy God, and thou hast rejoiced, thou and thy house.

27 T ampoco desampararás al Levita que habite en tus ciudades, porque él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.

As to the Levite who within thy gates, thou dost not forsake him, for he hath no portion and inheritance with thee.

28 “ Al fin de cada tercer año, sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año y lo depositarás en tus ciudades.

`At the end of three years thou dost bring out all the tithe of thine increase in that year, and hast placed within thy gates;

29 Y vendrá el Levita, que no tiene parte ni herencia contigo, también el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda que habitan en tus ciudades, y comerán y se saciarán, para que el Señor tu Dios te bendiga en toda obra que tu mano haga.

and come in hath the Levite (for he hath no part and inheritance with thee), and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who within thy gates, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, so that Jehovah thy God doth bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou dost.
