1 ¡ Ay de los que viven reposadamente en Sion, Y de los que se sienten seguros en el monte de Samaria, Los notables de las naciones principales, A quienes acude la casa de Israel!

Wo those secure in Zion, And those confident in the mount of Samaria, The marked of the chief of the nations, And come to them have the house of Israel.

2 P asen a Calne y miren, Y de allí vayan a Hamat la grande, Desciendan luego a Gat de los Filisteos. ¿Son ustedes mejores que estos reinos, O es su territorio mayor que el de ustedes?

Pass ye over Calneh and see, And go thence Hamath the great, And go down Gath of the Philistines, Are better than these kingdoms? Greater their border than your border?

3 ¿ Alejan ustedes el día de la calamidad, Y acercan la silla de la violencia ?

Who are putting away the day of evil, And ye bring nigh the seat of violence,

4 L os que se acuestan en camas de marfil, Se tienden sobre sus lechos, Comen corderos del rebaño Y terneros de en medio del establo;

Who are lying down on beds of ivory, And are spread out on their couches, And are eating lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the stall,

5 Q ue improvisan al son del arpa, Y como David han compuesto cantos para sí;

Who are taking part according to the psaltery, Like David they invented for themselves instruments of music;

6 Q ue beben vino en tazones del altar Y se ungen con los óleos más finos, Pero no se lamentan por la ruina de José,

Who are drinking with bowls of wine, And chief perfumes anoint, And have not been pained for the breach of Joseph.

7 I rán por tanto ahora al destierro a la cabeza de los desterrados, Y se acabarán los banquetes de los disolutos.

Therefore now they remove at the head of the captives, And turned aside is the mourning-feast of stretched-out ones.

8 E l Señor Dios ha jurado por sí mismo, ha declarado el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos: “Aborrezco la arrogancia de Jacob, Y odio sus palacios; Así que entregaré la ciudad y cuanto hay en ella.”

9 Y si diez hombres quedan en una misma casa, morirán.

And if there are left ten persons in one house, It hath come to pass -- that they have died.

10 E ntonces su tío o su incinerador, levantará a cada uno para sacar sus huesos de la casa, y dirá al que está en el fondo de la casa: “¿Hay alguien más contigo?” Y éste responderá: “Nadie.” Entonces aquél dirá: “¡Guarda silencio!, porque no se debe hacer mención del nombre del Señor.”

11 P orque el Señor ordenará que la casa grande sea reducida a escombros y que la casa pequeña sea hecha pedazos.

For lo, Jehovah is commanding, And He hath smitten the great house breaches, And the little house clefts.

12 ¿ Corren los caballos por la peña? ¿Se ara en ella con bueyes? Pues ustedes han convertido el derecho en veneno, Y el fruto de la justicia en amargura;

Do horses run on a rock? Doth one plough with oxen? For ye have turned to gall judgment, And the fruit of righteousness to wormwood.

13 U stedes que se alegran por Lo Debar (en nada), Que dicen: “¿No hemos tomado para nosotros Carnáyim (dos cuernos) Con nuestra propia fuerza ?”

O ye who are rejoicing at nothing, Who are saying, `Have we not by our strength taken to ourselves horns?'

14 “ Por tanto, voy a levantar contra ustedes, oh casa de Israel,” Declara el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, “una nación que los afligirá desde la entrada de Hamat Hasta el arroyo del Arabá.”

Surely, lo, I am raising against you a nation, O house of Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts, And they have oppressed you from the coming in to Hamath, Unto the stream of the desert.
