1 “ Amarás, pues, al Señor tu Dios, y guardarás siempre Sus mandatos, Sus estatutos, Sus ordenanzas y Sus mandamientos.

`And thou hast loved Jehovah thy God, and kept His charge, and His statutes, and His judgments, and His commands, all the days;

2 C omprendan ustedes hoy que no estoy hablando con sus hijos, los cuales no han visto la disciplina del Señor su Dios: Su grandeza, Su mano poderosa, Su brazo extendido,

and ye have known to-day -- for it is not your sons who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, His greatness, His strong hand, and His stretched-out arm,

3 S us señales y Sus obras que hizo en medio de Egipto a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra;

and His signs, and His doings, which He hath done in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to all his land;

4 l o que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros, al hacer que el agua del Mar Rojo los cubriera cuando los perseguían a ustedes, y el Señor los destruyó completamente;

and that which He hath done to the force of Egypt, to its horses, and to its chariot, when He hath caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow against their faces in their pursuing after them, and Jehovah destroyeth them, unto this day;

5 l o que hizo por ustedes en el desierto hasta que llegaron a este lugar.

and that which He hath done to you in the wilderness, till your coming in unto this place;

6 “ También vieron lo que hizo a Datán y Abiram, los hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos, a sus familias, a sus tiendas y a todo ser viviente que los seguía, en medio de todo Israel.

and that which He hath done to Dathan, and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, sons of Reuben, when the earth hath opened her mouth and swalloweth them, and their houses, and their tents, and all that liveth, which is at their feet, in the midst of all Israel:

7 P ero ustedes, con sus propios ojos, han visto toda la gran obra que el Señor ha hecho. Obediencia y Recompensa

`-- But your eyes which are seeing all the great work of Jehovah, which He hath done;

8 “ Guarden, pues, todos los mandamientos que les ordeno hoy, para que sean fuertes, y entren y tomen posesión de la tierra a la cual entran para poseerla;

and ye have kept all the command which I am commanding thee to-day, so that ye are strong, and have gone in, and possessed the land whither ye are passing over to possess it,

9 p ara que prolonguen sus días en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a sus padres y a su descendencia, una tierra que mana leche y miel.

and so that ye prolong days on the ground which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers to give to them and to their seed -- a land flowing with milk and honey.

10 P orque la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla, no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde ustedes vinieron, donde sembrabas tu semilla, y la regabas con el pie como una huerta de hortalizas,

`For the land whither thou art going in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt whence ye have come out, where thou sowest thy seed, and hast watered with thy foot, as a garden of the green herb;

11 s ino que la tierra a la cual entran para poseerla, tierra de montes y valles, bebe el agua de las lluvias del cielo.

but the land whither ye are passing over to possess it, a land of hills and valleys; of the rain of the heavens it drinketh water;

12 E s una tierra que el Señor tu Dios cuida; los ojos del Señor tu Dios están siempre sobre ella, desde el principio hasta el fin del año.

a land which Jehovah thy God is searching; continually the eyes of Jehovah thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the latter end of the year.

13 “ Y sucederá que si obedecen mis mandamientos que les ordeno hoy, de amar al Señor su Dios y de servirle con todo su corazón y con toda su alma,

`And it hath been -- if thou hearken diligently unto My commands which I am commanding you to-day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve Him with all your heart, and with all your soul --

14 E l dará a la tierra de ustedes la lluvia a su tiempo, lluvia temprana (de otoño) y lluvia tardía (de primavera), para que recojas tu grano, tu vino nuevo y tu aceite.

that I have given the rain of your land in its season -- sprinkling and gathered -- and thou hast gathered thy corn, and thy new wine, and thine oil,

15 Y El dará hierba en tus campos para tu ganado, y comerás y te saciarás.

and I have given herbs in thy field for thy cattle, and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied.

16 T engan cuidado, no sea que se engañe su corazón y se desvíen y sirvan a otros dioses, y los adoren.

`Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be enticed, and ye have turned aside, and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them,

17 N o sea que la ira del Señor se encienda contra ustedes, y cierre los cielos y no haya lluvia y la tierra no produzca su fruto, y pronto perezcan en la buena tierra que el Señor les da.

and the anger of Jehovah hath burned against you, and He hath restrained the heavens, and there is no rain, and the ground doth not give her increase, and ye have perished hastily from off the good land which Jehovah is giving to you.

18 “ Graben, pues, estas mis palabras en su corazón y en su alma; átenlas como una señal en su mano, y serán por insignias entre sus ojos.

`And ye have placed these my words on your heart, and on your soul, and have bound them for a sign on your hand, and they have been for frontlets between your eyes;

19 E nséñenlas a sus hijos, hablando de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

and ye have taught them to your sons, by speaking of them in thy sitting in thy house, and in thy going in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up,

20 Y escríbelas en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas,

and hast written them on the side-posts of thy house, and on thy gates,

21 p ara que tus días y los días de tus hijos sean multiplicados en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a tus padres, por todo el tiempo que los cielos permanezcan sobre la tierra.

so that your days are multiplied, and the days of your sons, on the ground which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers to give to them, as the days of the heavens on the earth.

22 P orque si guardan cuidadosamente todo este mandamiento que les ordeno para cumplirlo, amando al Señor su Dios, andando en todos Sus caminos y allegándose a El,

`For, if ye diligently keep all this command which I am commanding you -- to do it, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave to Him,

23 e ntonces el Señor expulsará de delante de ustedes a todas estas naciones, y ustedes desposeerán a naciones más grandes y más poderosas que ustedes.

then hath Jehovah dispossessed all these nations from before you, and ye have possessed nations, greater and mightier than you;

24 T odo lugar donde pise la planta de su pie será de ustedes; sus fronteras serán desde el desierto hasta el Líbano, y desde el río, el Río Eufrates, hasta el Mar Occidental (el Mediterráneo).

every place on which the sole of your foot treadeth is yours; from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Phrat, even unto the farther sea is your border;

25 N adie les podrá hacer frente; el Señor su Dios infundirá, como El les ha dicho, el espanto y terror de ustedes en toda la tierra que pise su pie.

no man doth station himself in your presence; your dread and your fear doth Jehovah your God put on the face of all the land on which ye tread, as He hath spoken to you.

26 “ Miren, hoy pongo delante de ustedes una bendición y una maldición:

`See, I am setting before you to-day a blessing and a reviling:

27 l a bendición, si escuchan los mandamientos del Señor su Dios que les ordeno hoy;

the blessing, when ye hearken unto the commands of Jehovah your God, which I am commanding you to-day;

28 y la maldición, si no escuchan los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, sino que se apartan del camino que les ordeno hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no han conocido.

and the reviling, if ye do not hearken unto the commands of Jehovah your God, and have turned aside out of the way which I am commanding you to-day, to go after other gods which ye have not known.

29 “ Y acontecerá, que cuando el Señor tu Dios te lleve a la tierra donde entras para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre el Monte Gerizim y la maldición sobre el Monte Ebal.

`And it hath been, when Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land whither thou art going in to possess it, that thou hast given the blessing on mount Gerizim, and the reviling on mount Ebal;

30 ¿ No están ellos al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino al oeste, en la tierra de los Cananeos que habitan en el Arabá, frente a Gilgal, junto al encinar de More ?

are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite, who is dwelling in the plain over-against Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh?

31 P orque ustedes van a pasar el Jordán para ir a poseer la tierra que el Señor su Dios les da, y la tomarán y habitarán en ella,

for ye are passing over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you; and ye have possessed it, and dwelt in it,

32 y tendrán cuidado de cumplir todos los estatutos y decretos que hoy pongo delante de ustedes.

and observed to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am setting before you to day.
