1 E n el tercer año de Ciro, rey de Persia, un mensaje fue revelado a Daniel, a quien llamaban Beltsasar. El mensaje era verdadero y acerca de un gran conflicto; él comprendió el mensaje y tuvo entendimiento de la visión.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing is revealed to Daniel, whose name is called Belteshazzar, and the thing true, and the warfare great: and he hath understood the thing, and hath understanding about the appearance.

2 E n aquellos días, yo, Daniel, había estado en duelo durante tres semanas completas.

`In those days, I, Daniel, have been mourning three weeks of days;

3 N o comí manjar delicado ni entró en mi boca carne ni vino, ni usé ungüento alguno, hasta que se cumplieron las tres semanas.

desirable bread I have not eaten, and flesh and wine hath not come in unto my mouth, and I have not anointed myself at all, till the completion of three weeks of days.

4 Y el día veinticuatro del primer mes, estando yo junto a la orilla del gran río, es decir, el Tigris,

`And in the twenty and fourth day of the first month, I have been by the side of the great river, that Hiddekel:

5 a lcé los ojos y miré, y había un hombre vestido de lino, cuya cintura estaba ceñida con un cinturón de oro puro de Ufaz.

and I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a certain one clothed in linen, and his loins girt with pure gold of Uphaz,

6 S u cuerpo era como de berilo, su rostro tenía la apariencia de un relámpago, sus ojos eran como antorchas de fuego, sus brazos y pies como el brillo del bronce bruñido, y el sonido de sus palabras como el estruendo de una multitud.

and his body as a beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet as the aspect of bright brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.

7 Y sólo yo, Daniel, vi la visión. Los hombres que estaban conmigo no vieron la visión, pero un gran terror cayó sobre ellos y huyeron a esconderse.

`And I have seen -- I, Daniel, by myself -- the appearance: and the men who have been with me have not seen the appearance, but a great trembling hath fallen on them, and they flee to be hidden;

8 M e quedé solo viendo esta gran visión. No me quedaron fuerzas, y mi rostro se demudó, desfigurándose, sin retener yo fuerza alguna.

and I have been left by myself, and I see this great appearance, and there hath been no power left in me, and my honour hath been turned in me to corruption, yea, I have not retained power.

9 P ero oí el sonido de sus palabras, y al oír el sonido de sus palabras, caí en un sueño profundo sobre mi rostro, con mi rostro en tierra.

`And I hear the voice of his words, and when I hear the voice of his words, then I have been in a trance on my face, and my face to the earth;

10 E ntonces, una mano me tocó, y me hizo temblar sobre mis rodillas y sobre las palmas de mis manos.

and lo, a hand hath come against me, and shaketh me on my knees and the palms of my hands.

11 “ Daniel, hombre muy estimado, entiende las palabras que te voy a decir y ponte en pie, porque ahora he sido enviado a ti,” me dijo. Cuando él me dijo estas palabras, me puse en pie temblando.

`And he saith unto me: Daniel, man greatly desired, attend to the words that I am speaking unto thee, and stand on thy station, for now I have been sent unto thee. `And when he speaketh with me this word, I have stood trembling.

12 E ntonces me dijo: “No temas, Daniel, porque desde el primer día en que te propusiste en tu corazón entender y humillarte delante de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras, y a causa de tus palabras he venido.

And he saith unto me: Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst give thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words have been heard, and I have come because of thy words.

13 P ero el príncipe del reino de Persia se me opuso por veintiún días, pero Miguel, uno de los primeros príncipes, vino en mi ayuda, ya que yo había sido dejado allí con los reyes de Persia.

`And the head of the kingdom of Persia is standing over-against me twenty and one days, and lo, Michael, first of the chief heads, hath come in to help me, and I have remained there near the kings of Persia;

14 Y he venido para darte a conocer lo que sucederá a tu pueblo al final de los días, porque la visión es para días aún lejanos.”

and I have come to cause thee to understand that which doth happen to thy people in the latter end of the days, for yet the vision after days.

15 C uando habló conmigo estas palabras, volví mi rostro a tierra y enmudecí.

`And when he speaketh with me about these things, I have set my face toward the earth, and have been silent;

16 Y uno semejante a un hombre tocó mis labios. Entonces abrí mi boca y hablé, y dije al que estaba delante de mí: “Señor mío, a causa de la visión me ha invadido la angustia y me he quedado sin fuerzas.

and lo, as the manner of the sons of men, he is striking against my lips, and I open my mouth, and I speak, and say unto him who is standing over-against me: My lord, by the appearance turned have been my pangs against me, and I have retained no power.

17 ¿ Cómo podrá, pues, este siervo de mi señor hablar con uno como mi señor ? Porque a mí en este momento no me queda fuerza alguna, ni tampoco me queda aliento.”

And how is the servant of this my lord able to speak with this my lord? as for me, henceforth there remaineth in me no power, yea, breath hath not been left in me.

18 E ntonces el que tenía semejanza de hombre me tocó otra vez y me fortaleció,

`And he addeth, and striketh against me, as the appearance of a man, and strengtheneth me,

19 y me dijo: “No temas, hombre muy estimado. La paz sea contigo. Sé fuerte y aliéntate.” Cuando habló conmigo, recobré las fuerzas, y dije: “Hable mi señor, porque me has fortalecido.”

and he saith: Do not fear, O man greatly desired, peace to thee, be strong, yea, be strong; and when he speaketh with me, I have strengthened myself, and I say, Let my lord speak, for thou hast strengthened me.

20 E ntonces él dijo: “¿Sabes por qué he venido a ti? Ahora vuelvo para luchar contra el príncipe de Persia, y cuando yo termine, el príncipe de Grecia vendrá.

And he saith, Hast thou known why I have come unto thee? and now I turn back to fight with the head of Persia; yea, I am going forth, and lo, the head of Javan hath come;

21 S in embargo, te declararé lo que está inscrito en el libro de la verdad, pero no hay nadie que se mantenga firme a mi lado contra estas fuerzas, sino Miguel, el príncipe de ustedes.

but I declare to thee that which is noted down in the Writing of Truth, and there is not one strengthening himself with me, concerning these, except Michael your head.
