1 L os dos ángeles llegaron a Sodoma al caer la tarde, cuando Lot estaba sentado a la Puerta de Sodoma. Al ver los, Lot se levantó para recibirlos y se postró rostro en tierra,

And two of the messengers come towards Sodom at even, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot seeth, and riseth to meet them, and boweth himself -- face to the earth,

2 y les dijo: “Señores míos, les ruego que entren en la casa de su siervo y pasen en ella la noche y laven sus pies. Entonces se levantarán temprano y continuarán su camino.” “No,” dijeron ellos, “sino que pasaremos la noche en la plaza.”

and he saith, `Lo, I pray you, my lords, turn aside, I pray you, unto the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet -- then ye have risen early and gone on your way;' and they say, `Nay, but in the broad place we do lodge.'

3 E l, sin embargo, les rogó con insistencia, y ellos fueron con él y entraron en su casa. Lot les preparó un banquete y coció pan sin levadura, y comieron.

And he presseth on them greatly, and they turn aside unto him, and come in unto his house; and he maketh for them a banquet, and hath baked unleavened things; and they do eat.

4 A ún no se habían acostado, cuando los hombres de la ciudad, los hombres de Sodoma, rodearon la casa, tanto jóvenes como viejos, todo el pueblo sin excepción.

Before they lie down, the men of the city -- men of Sodom -- have come round about against the house, from young even unto aged, all the people from the extremity;

5 Y llamaron a Lot, y le dijeron: “¿Dónde están los hombres que vinieron a ti esta noche? Sácalos para que los conozcamos.”

and they call unto Lot and say to him, `Where the men who have come in unto thee to-night? bring them out unto us, and we know them.'

6 E ntonces Lot salió a ellos a la entrada, y cerró la puerta tras sí,

And Lot goeth out unto them, to the opening, and the door hath shut behind him,

7 “ Hermanos míos, les ruego que no obren perversamente,” les dijo Lot.

and saith, `Do not, I pray you, my brethren, do evil;

8 M iren, tengo dos hijas que no han conocido varón. Permítanme sacarlas a ustedes y hagan con ellas como mejor les parezca. Pero no hagan nada a estos hombres, pues se han amparado bajo mi techo.”

lo, I pray you, I have two daughters, who have not known any one; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do to them as good in your eyes; only to these men do not anything, for therefore have they come in within the shadow of my roof.'

9 “ ¡Hazte a un lado!” dijeron ellos. Y dijeron además: “Este ha venido como extranjero, y ya está actuando como juez; ahora te trataremos a ti peor que a ellos.” Se lanzaron contra Lot y estaban a punto de romper la puerta,

And they say, `Come nigh hither;' they say also, `This one hath come in to sojourn, and he certainly judgeth! now, we do evil to thee more than them;' and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come nigh to break the door.

10 p ero los dos hombres extendieron la mano y metieron a Lot en la casa con ellos, y cerraron la puerta.

And the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot unto them, into the house, and have shut the door;

11 Y a los hombres que estaban a la entrada de la casa los hirieron con ceguera desde el menor hasta el mayor, de manera que se cansaban tratando de hallar la entrada. Lot Huye de Sodoma

and the men who at the opening of the house they have smitten with blindness, from small even unto great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.

12 E ntonces los dos hombres dijeron a Lot: “¿A quién más tienes aquí? A tus yernos, a tus hijos, a tus hijas y quienquiera que tengas en la ciudad, sáca los de este lugar.

And the men say unto Lot, `Whom hast thou here still? son-in-law, thy sons also, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city, bring out from this place;

13 “ Porque vamos a destruir este lugar, pues su clamor ha llegado a ser tan grande delante del Señor, que el Señor nos ha enviado a destruirlo.”

for we are destroying this place, for their cry hath been great the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send us to destroy it.'

14 L ot salió y habló a sus yernos que iban a casarse con sus hijas, y dijo: “Levántense, salgan de este lugar porque el Señor destruirá la ciudad.” Pero a sus yernos les pareció que bromeaba.

And Lot goeth out, and speaketh unto his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and saith, `Rise, go out from this place, for Jehovah is destroying the city;' and he is as mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

15 A l amanecer, los ángeles apremiaban a Lot, diciendo: “Levántate, toma a tu mujer y a tus dos hijas que están aquí, para que no sean destruidos en el castigo de la ciudad.”

And when the dawn hath ascended, then the messengers press upon Lot, saying, `Rise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters who are found present, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.'

16 P ero él titubeaba. Entonces los dos hombres los tomaron de la mano, a él, y a su mujer y a sus dos hijas, porque la compasión del Señor estaba sobre él. Los sacaron y los pusieron fuera de la ciudad.

And he lingereth, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of Jehovah unto him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest without the city.

17 C uando los habían llevado fuera, uno le dijo: “Huye por tu vida. No mires detrás de ti y no te detengas en ninguna parte del valle. Escapa al monte, no sea que perezcas.”

And it cometh to pass when he hath brought them out without, that he saith, `Escape for thy life; look not expectingly behind thee, nor stand thou in all the circuit; to the mountain escape, lest thou be consumed.'

18 “ No, por favor, señores míos,” les dijo Lot.

And Lot saith unto them, `Not, I pray thee, my lord;

19 “ Ahora tu siervo ha hallado gracia ante tus ojos, y has engrandecido tu misericordia la cual me has mostrado salvándome la vida. Pero no puedo escapar al monte, no sea que el desastre me alcance, y muera.

lo, I pray thee, thy servant hath found grace in thine eyes, and thou dost make great thy kindness which thou hast done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave me, and I have died;

20 M ira, esta ciudad está bastante cerca para huir a ella, y es pequeña. Te ruego que me dejes huir allá (¿acaso no es pequeña?) para salvar mi vida.”

lo, I pray thee, this city near to flee thither, and it little; let me escape, I pray thee, thither, (is it not little?) and my soul doth live.'

21 Y él le respondió: “Bien, te concedo también esta petición de no destruir la ciudad de que has hablado.

And he saith unto him, `Lo, I have accepted thy face also for this thing, without overthrowing the city which thou hast spoken;

22 D ate prisa, escapa allá, porque nada puedo hacer hasta que llegues allí.” Por eso el nombre que se le puso a la ciudad fue Zoar (Pequeña). Destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra

haste, escape thither, for I am not able to do anything till thine entering thither;' therefore hath he calleth the name of the city Zoar.

23 E l sol había salido sobre la tierra cuando Lot llegó a Zoar.

The sun hath gone out on the earth, and Lot hath entered into Zoar,

24 E ntonces el Señor hizo llover azufre y fuego sobre Sodoma y Gomorra, de parte del Señor desde los cielos.

and Jehovah hath rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah, from the heavens;

25 E l destruyó aquellas ciudades y todo el valle y todos los habitantes de las ciudades y todo lo que crecía en la tierra.

and He overthroweth these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.

26 P ero la mujer de Lot, que iba tras él, miró hacia atrás y se convirtió en una columna de sal.

And his wife looketh expectingly from behind him, and she is -- a pillar of salt!

27 A braham se levantó muy de mañana, y fue al sitio donde había estado delante del Señor.

And Abraham riseth early in the morning, unto the place where he hath stood the face of Jehovah;

28 D irigió la vista hacia Sodoma y Gomorra y hacia toda la tierra del valle y miró; y el humo ascendía de la tierra como el humo de un horno.

and he looketh on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and seeth, and lo, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.

29 P ero cuando Dios destruyó las ciudades del valle, se acordó de Abraham e hizo salir a Lot de en medio de la destrucción, cuando destruyó las ciudades donde había habitado Lot. Moab y Amón

And it cometh to pass, in God's destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembereth Abraham, and sendeth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.

30 L ot subió de Zoar y habitó en los montes, y sus dos hijas con él, pues tenía miedo de quedarse en Zoar. Y habitó en una cueva, él y sus dos hijas.

And Lot goeth up out of Zoar, and dwelleth in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he hath been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwelleth in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 E ntonces la mayor dijo a la menor: “Nuestro padre es viejo y no hay ningún hombre en el país que se llegue a nosotras según la costumbre de toda la tierra.

And the first-born saith unto the younger, `Our father old, and a man there is not in the earth to come in unto us, as the way of all the earth;

32 V en, hagamos que beba vino nuestro padre, y acostémonos con él para preservar nuestra familia por medio de nuestro padre.”

come, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve from our father -- a seed.'

33 A quella noche hicieron que su padre bebiera vino, y la mayor entró y se acostó con su padre, y él no supo cuando ella se acostó ni cuando se levantó.

And they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the first-born goeth in, and lieth with her father, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

34 A l día siguiente la mayor dijo a la menor: “Mira, anoche yo me acosté con mi padre. Hagamos que beba vino esta noche también, y entonces entra tú y acuéstate con él, para preservar nuestra familia por medio de nuestro padre.”

And it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the first-born saith unto the younger, `Lo, I have lain yesterday-night with my father: we cause him to drink wine also to-night, and go thou in, lie with him, and we preserve from our father -- a seed.'

35 D e manera que también aquella noche hicieron que su padre bebiera vino, y la menor se levantó y se acostó con él, y él no supo cuando ella se acostó ni cuando se levantó.

And they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger riseth and lieth with him, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

36 A sí las dos hijas de Lot concibieron de su padre.

And the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,

37 Y la mayor dio a luz un hijo, y lo llamó Moab. El es el padre de los Moabitas hasta hoy.

and the first-born beareth a son, and calleth his name Moab; he father of Moab unto this day;

38 E n cuanto a la menor, también ella dio a luz un hijo, y lo llamó Ben (Hijo de) Ammi. El es el padre de los Amonitas hasta hoy.

as to the younger, she also hath born a son, and calleth his name Ben-Ammi: he father of the Beni-Ammon unto this day.
