1 D espués de esto Pablo salió de Atenas y fue a Corinto.

And after these things, Paul having departed out of Athens, came to Corinth,

2 A llí se encontró con un Judío que se llamaba Aquila, natural del Ponto, quien acababa de llegar de Italia con Priscila su mujer, pues el emperador Claudio había ordenado a todos los Judíos que salieran de Roma. Pablo fue a verlos,

and having found a certain Jew, by name Aquilas, of Pontus by birth, lately come from Italy, and Priscilla his wife -- because of Claudius having directed all the Jews to depart out of Rome -- he came to them,

3 y como él era del mismo oficio, se quedó con ellos y trabajaban juntos, pues el oficio de ellos era hacer tiendas de campaña.

and because of being of the same craft, he did remain with them, and was working, for they were tent-makers as to craft;

4 Y discutía en la sinagoga todos los días de reposo, tratando de persuadir a Judíos y a Griegos.

and he was reasoning in the synagogue every sabbath, persuading both Jews and Greeks.

5 C uando Silas y Timoteo llegaron de Macedonia, Pablo comenzó a dedicarse por completo a la predicación de la palabra, testificando solemnemente a los Judíos que Jesús era el Cristo (el Mesías).

And when both Silas and Timotheus came down from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the Spirit, testifying fully to the Jews Jesus the Christ;

6 P ero cuando los Judíos se le opusieron y blasfemaron, él sacudió sus ropas y les dijo: “Su sangre sea sobre sus cabezas; yo soy limpio; desde ahora me iré a los Gentiles.”

and on their resisting and speaking evil, having shaken garments, he said unto them, `Your blood upon your head -- I am clean; henceforth to the nations I will go on.'

7 P artiendo de allí, se fue a la casa de un hombre llamado Ticio Justo, que adoraba a Dios, cuya casa estaba junto a la sinagoga.

And having departed thence, he went to the house of a certain one, by name Justus, a worshipper of God, whose house was adjoining the synagogue,

8 C rispo, el oficial (principal) de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor con toda su casa. También muchos de los Corintios, al oír, creían y eran bautizados.

and Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue did believe in the Lord with all his house, and many of the Corinthians hearing were believing, and they were being baptized.

9 P or medio de una visión durante la noche, el Señor dijo a Pablo: “No temas, sigue hablando y no calles;

And the Lord said through a vision in the night to Paul, `Be not afraid, but be speaking and thou mayest be not silent;

10 p orque Yo estoy contigo, y nadie te atacará para hacerte daño, porque Yo tengo mucha gente en esta ciudad.”

because I am with thee, and no one shall set on thee to do thee evil; because I have much people in this city;'

11 E ntonces Pablo se quedó allí un año y seis meses, enseñando la palabra de Dios entre ellos. Pablo ante Galión

and he continued a year and six months, teaching among them the word of God.

12 P ero siendo Galión procónsul de Acaya, los Judíos se levantaron a una contra Pablo y lo trajeron ante el tribunal.

And Gallio being proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a rush with one accord upon Paul, and brought him unto the tribunal,

13 “ Este persuade a los hombres a que adoren a Dios en forma contraria a la ley,” dijeron ellos.

saying -- `Against the law this one doth persuade men to worship God;'

14 C uando Pablo iba a hablar, Galión dijo a los Judíos: “Si fuera cuestión de una injusticia o de un crimen depravado, oh Judíos, yo les toleraría, como sería razonable.

and Paul being about to open mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, `If, indeed, then, it was anything unrighteous, or an act of wicked profligacy, O Jews, according to reason I had borne with you,

15 P ero si son cuestiones de palabras y nombres, y de su propia ley, allá ustedes; yo no estoy dispuesto a ser juez de estas cosas.”

but if it is a question concerning words and names, and of your law, look ye yourselves, for a judge of these things I do not wish to be,'

16 Y los echó del tribunal.

and he drave them from the tribunal;

17 E ntonces todos ellos agarraron a Sóstenes, el oficial (principal) de la sinagoga, y lo golpeaban frente al tribunal, pero Galión no hacía caso de nada de esto. Fin del Segundo Viaje Misionero de Pablo, y Principio del Tercero

and all the Greeks having taken Sosthenes, the chief man of the synagogue, were beating before the tribunal, and not even for these things was Gallio caring.

18 P ablo, después de quedarse muchos días más, se despidió de los hermanos y se embarcó hacia Siria, y con él iban Priscila y Aquila. Y en Cencrea se hizo cortar el cabello, porque tenía hecho un voto.

And Paul having remained yet a good many days, having taken leave of the brethren, was sailing to Syria -- and with him Priscilla and Aquilas -- having shorn head in Cenchera, for he had a vow;

19 L legaron a Efeso y dejó allí a Priscila y Aquila. Y entrando Pablo a la sinagoga, discutía con los Judíos.

and he came down to Ephesus, and did leave them there, and he himself having entered into the synagogue did reason with the Jews:

20 C uando le rogaron que se quedara más tiempo, no consintió,

and they having requested to remain a longer time with them, he did not consent,

21 s ino que se despidió de ellos, diciendo: “Volveré a ustedes otra vez, si Dios quiere.” Y embarcándose, se fue de Efeso.

but took leave of them, saying, `It behoveth me by all means the coming feast to keep at Jerusalem, and again I will return unto you -- God willing.' And he sailed from Ephesus,

22 A l llegar a Cesarea, subió a Jerusalén para saludar a la iglesia, y luego descendió a Antioquía.

and having come down to Cesarea, having gone up, and having saluted the assembly, he went down to Antioch.

23 D espués de pasar allí algún tiempo, Pablo fue recorriendo por orden la región de Galacia y de Frigia, fortaleciendo a todos los discípulos. Apolos en Efeso

And having made some stay he went forth, going through in order the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

24 L legó entonces a Efeso un Judío que se llamaba Apolos, natural de Alejandría, hombre elocuente, y que era poderoso en las Escrituras.

And a certain Jew, Apollos by name, an Alexandrian by birth, a man of eloquence, being mighty in the Writings, came to Ephesus,

25 E ste había sido instruido en el camino del Señor, y siendo ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y enseñaba con exactitud las cosas referentes a Jesús, aunque sólo conocía el bautismo de Juan.

this one was instructed in the way of the Lord, and being fervent in the Spirit, was speaking and teaching exactly the things about the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John;

26 Y comenzó a hablar abiertamente en la sinagoga. Pero cuando Priscila y Aquila lo oyeron, lo llevaron aparte y le explicaron con mayor exactitud el camino de Dios.

this one also began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and Aquilas and Priscilla having heard of him, took him to, and did more exactly expound to him the way of God,

27 C uando Apolos quiso pasar a Acaya, los hermanos lo animaron, y escribieron a los discípulos que lo recibieran. Cuando llegó, ayudó mucho a los que por la gracia habían creído,

and he being minded to go through into Achaia, the brethren wrote to the disciples, having exhorted them to receive him, who having come, did help them much who have believed through the grace,

28 p orque refutaba vigorosamente en público a los Judíos, demostrando por las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo (el Mesías).

for powerfully the Jews he was refuting publicly, shewing through the Writings Jesus to be the Christ.
