1 C uando Adonisedec, rey de Jerusalén (Ciudad de Paz), se enteró de que Josué había capturado a Hai y que la había destruido por completo (como había hecho con Jericó y con su rey así había hecho con Hai y con su rey), y que los habitantes de Gabaón habían concertado la paz con Israel y estaban dentro de su tierra,

And it cometh to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heareth that Joshua hath captured Ai, and doth devote it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he hath done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst, --

2 t uvo gran temor, porque Gabaón era una gran ciudad, como una de las ciudades reales, y porque era más grande que Hai, y todos sus hombres eran valientes.

that they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it greater than Ai, and all its men -- heroes.

3 P or tanto, Adonisedec, rey de Jerusalén (Ciudad de Paz), envió mensaje a Hoham, rey de Hebrón, a Piream, rey de Jarmut, a Jafía, rey de Laquis y a Debir, rey de Eglón, diciéndoles:

And Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sendeth unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

4 “ Suban a mí y ayúdenme, y ataquemos a Gabaón, porque ha hecho paz con Josué y con los Israelitas.”

`Come up unto me, and help me, and we smite Gibeon, for it hath made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.'

5 S e reunieron, pues, los cinco reyes de los Amorreos: el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón, y subieron ellos con todos sus ejércitos, y acamparon junto a Gabaón y lucharon contra ella.

And five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.

6 E ntonces los hombres de Gabaón enviaron mensaje a Josué al campamento de Gilgal y le dijeron: “No abandone a sus siervos; suba rápidamente a nosotros, sálvenos y ayúdenos, porque todos los reyes de los Amorreos que habitan en los montes se han reunido contra nosotros.”

And the men of Gibeon send unto Joshua, unto the camp at Gilgal, saying, `Let not thy hand cease from thy servants; come up unto us haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.'

7 J osué subió de Gilgal, él y toda la gente de guerra con él, y todos los valientes guerreros.

And Joshua goeth up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valour.

8 Y el Señor dijo a Josué: “No les tengas miedo, porque los he entregado en tus manos. Ninguno de ellos te podrá resistir.”

And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of them, for into thy hand I have given them, there doth not stand a man of them in thy presence.'

9 V ino, pues, Josué sobre ellos de repente, habiendo marchado toda la noche desde Gilgal.

And Joshua cometh in unto them suddenly (all the night he hath gone up from Gilgal),

10 Y el Señor los desconcertó delante de Israel, y los hirió con gran matanza en Gabaón. Luego los persiguió por el camino de la subida de Bet Horón y los hirió hasta Azeca y Maceda.

and Jehovah doth crush them before Israel, and it smiteth them -- a great smiting -- at Gibeon, and pursueth them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and smiteth them unto Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

11 M ientras huían delante de Israel, cuando estaban en la bajada de Bet Horón, el Señor arrojó desde el cielo grandes piedras sobre ellos hasta Azeca y murieron. Y fueron más los que murieron por las piedras del granizo que los que mataron a espada los Israelitas.

And it cometh to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel -- they in the descent of Beth-Horon -- and Jehovah hath cast upon them great stones out of the heavens, unto Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.

12 E ntonces Josué habló al Señor el día en que el Señor entregó a los Amorreos delante de los Israelitas, y dijo en presencia de Israel: “Sol, detente en Gabaón, Y tú luna, en el Valle de Ajalón.”

Then speaketh Joshua to Jehovah in the day of Jehovah's giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he saith, before the eyes of Israel, `Sun -- in Gibeon stand still; and moon -- in the valley of Ajalon;'

13 Y el sol se detuvo, y la luna se paró, Hasta que la nación se vengó de sus enemigos. ¿No está esto escrito en el Libro de Jaser ? Y el sol se detuvo en medio del cielo y no se apresuró a ponerse como por un día entero.

and the sun standeth still, and the moon hath stood -- till the nation taketh vengeance its enemies; is it not written on the Book of the Upright, `and the sun standeth in the midst of the heavens, and hath not hasted to go in -- as a perfect day?'

14 N i antes ni después hubo día como aquél, cuando el Señor prestó atención a la voz de un hombre, porque el Señor peleó por Israel.

And there hath not been like that day before it or after it, for Jehovah's hearkening to the voice of a man; for Jehovah is fighting for Israel.

15 E ntonces Josué, y todo Israel con él, volvió al campamento en Gilgal. Muerte de los Cinco Reyes

And Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.

16 A quellos cinco reyes habían huido y se habían escondido en la cueva de Maceda.

And these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,

17 Y fue dado aviso a Josué: “Los cinco reyes han sido hallados escondidos en la cueva de Maceda.”

and it is declared to Joshua, saying, `The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.'

18 Y Josué dijo: “Rueden piedras grandes hacia la entrada de la cueva, y pongan junto a ella hombres que los vigilen,

And Joshua saith, `Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and appoint over it men to watch them;

19 p ero ustedes no se queden ahí. Persigan a sus enemigos y atáquenlos por la retaguardia. No les permitan entrar en sus ciudades, porque el Señor, Dios de ustedes, los ha entregado en sus manos.”

and ye, stand not, pursue after your enemies, and ye have smitten the hindmost of them; suffer them not to go in unto their cities, for Jehovah your God hath given them into your hand.'

20 C uando Josué y los Israelitas terminaron de herirlos con gran matanza, hasta que fueron destruidos, y los sobrevivientes que de ellos quedaron habían entrado en las ciudades fortificadas,

And it cometh to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to smite them -- a very great smiting, till they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go in unto the fenced cities,

21 t odo el pueblo volvió en paz al campamento y a Josué en Maceda. Nadie profirió palabra alguna contra ninguno de los Israelitas.

that all the people turn back to the camp, unto Joshua, Makkedah, in peace; none moved sharply his tongue against the sons of Israel.

22 E ntonces Josué dijo: “Abran la entrada de la cueva y sáquenme de ella a esos cinco reyes.”

And Joshua saith, `Open ye the mouth of the cave, and bring out unto me these five kings from the cave;'

23 A sí lo hicieron, y le trajeron de la cueva a estos cinco reyes: el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón.

and they do so, and bring out unto him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.

24 C uando llevaron estos reyes a Josué, Josué llamó a todos los hombres de Israel, y dijo a los jefes de los hombres de guerra que habían ido con él: “Acérquense, pongan su pie sobre el cuello de estos reyes.” Ellos se acercaron y pusieron los pies sobre sus cuellos.

And it cometh to pass, when they bring out these kings unto Joshua, that Joshua calleth unto every man of Israel, and saith unto the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, `Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings;' and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.

25 E ntonces Josué les dijo: “No teman ni se acobarden. Sean fuertes y valientes, porque así hará el Señor a todos los enemigos con los que ustedes luchen.”

And Joshua saith unto them, `Fear not, nor be affrighted; be strong and courageous; for thus doth Jehovah do to all your enemies with whom ye are fighting;'

26 D espués Josué les dio muerte y los colgó de cinco árboles, y quedaron colgados de los árboles hasta la tarde.

and Joshua smiteth them afterwards, and putteth them to death, and hangeth them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees till the evening.

27 A la hora de la puesta del sol, Josué dio órdenes y los bajaron de los árboles, y los echaron en la cueva donde se habían escondido, y sobre la boca de la cueva pusieron grandes piedras que permanecen hasta el día de hoy.

And it cometh to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua hath commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them unto the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave till this very day.

28 A quel día Josué conquistó a Maceda. La hirió a filo de espada junto con su rey y la destruyó por completo con todas las personas que había en ella. No dejó ningún sobreviviente, e hizo con el rey de Maceda como había hecho con el rey de Jericó. Otras Conquistas de Josué

And Makkedah hath Joshua captured on that day, and he smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and its king he hath devoted, them and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; and he doth to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.

29 J osué, y todo Israel con él, pasó de Maceda a Libna, y peleó contra Libna.

And Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah Libnah, and fighteth with Libnah;

30 E l Señor la entregó también, junto con su rey, en manos de Israel, que la hirió a filo de espada con todas las personas que había en ella. No dejó ningún sobreviviente en ella, e hizo con su rey como había hecho con el rey de Jericó.

and Jehovah giveth also it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and it smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it -- it left not in it a remnant; and it doth to its king as it did to the king of Jericho.

31 J osué, y todo Israel con él, pasó de Libna a Laquis, acampó cerca de ella y la atacó.

And Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encampeth against it, and fighteth against it;

32 E l Señor entregó a Laquis en manos de Israel, la cual conquistaron al segundo día, y la hirieron a filo de espada con todas las personas que había en ella, conforme a todo lo que había hecho a Libna.

And Jehovah giveth Lachish into the hand of Israel, and it captureth it on the second day, and smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it, according to all that it did to Libnah.

33 E ntonces Horam, rey de Gezer, subió en ayuda de Laquis, pero Josué lo derrotó a él y a su pueblo, hasta no dejar sobreviviente alguno.

Than hath Horam king of Gezer come up to help Lachish, and Joshua smiteth him and his people, till he hath not left to him a remnant.

34 J osué, y todo Israel con él, pasaron de Laquis a Eglón, y acamparon cerca de ella y la atacaron.

And Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Lachish to Eglon, and they encamp against it, and fight against it,

35 L a conquistaron aquel mismo día y la hirieron a filo de espada. Destruyeron por completo aquel día a todas las personas que había en ella, conforme a todo lo que habían hecho a Laquis.

and capture it on that day, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it on that day he hath devoted, according to all that he did to Lachish.

36 E ntonces subió Josué, y todo Israel con él, de Eglón a Hebrón, y pelearon contra ella.

And Joshua goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron, and they fight against it,

37 L a conquistaron y la hirieron a filo de espada, con su rey, todas sus ciudades y todas las personas que había en ella. No dejaron ningún sobreviviente, conforme a todo lo que había hecho a Eglón. La destruyeron por completo con todas las personas que había en ella.

and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant -- according to all that he did to Eglon -- and doth devote it, and every person who in it.

38 D espués Josué, y todo Israel con él, se volvieron contra Debir y peleó contra ella.

And Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fighteth against it,

39 L a conquistaron, con su rey y todas sus ciudades, hiriéndolas a filo de espada. Destruyeron por completo a todas las personas que había en ella. Josué no dejó sobreviviente alguno. Como había hecho con Hebrón, y como había hecho también con Libna y su rey, así hizo con Debir y su rey.

and captureth it, and its king, and all its cities, and they smite them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.

40 H irió, pues, Josué toda la tierra: la región montañosa, el Neguev (región del sur), las tierras bajas (la Sefela) y las laderas, y a todos sus reyes. No dejó ningún sobreviviente, sino que destruyó por completo a todo el que tenía vida, tal como el Señor, Dios de Israel, había mandado.

And Joshua smiteth all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings -- he hath not left a remnant, and all that doth breathe he hath devoted, as Jehovah, God of Israel, commanded.

41 J osué los hirió desde Cades Barnea hasta Gaza, y todo el territorio de Gosén hasta Gabaón.

And Joshua smiteth them from Kadesh-Barnea, even unto Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even unto Gibeon;

42 A todos estos reyes y sus territorios los capturó Josué de una vez, porque el Señor, Dios de Israel, combatía por Israel.

and all these kings and their land hath Joshua captured one time, for Jehovah, God of Israel, is fighting for Israel.

43 E ntonces Josué, y todo Israel con él, volvieron al campamento en Gilgal.

and Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.
