1 P or aquel tiempo Jesús pasó por entre los sembrados en el día de reposo; Sus discípulos tuvieron hambre, y empezaron a arrancar espigas y a comer.

At that time did Jesus go on the sabbaths through the corn, and his disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck ears, and to eat,

2 C uando los Fariseos lo vieron, dijeron: “Mira, Tus discípulos hacen lo que no es lícito hacer en el día de reposo.”

and the Pharisees having seen, said to him, `Lo, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on a sabbath.'

3 P ero El les contestó: “¿No han leído lo que hizo David cuando él y sus compañeros tuvieron hambre,

And he said to them, `Did ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, himself and those with him --

4 c ómo entró en la casa de Dios y comieron los panes consagrados, que no les era lícito comer, ni a él ni a los que estaban con él, sino sólo a los sacerdotes?

how he went into the house of God, and the loaves of the presentation did eat, which it is not lawful to him to eat, nor to those with him, except to the priests alone?

5 ¿ O no han leído en la Ley, que en los días de reposo los sacerdotes en el templo profanan el día de reposo y están sin culpa?

`Or did ye not read in the Law, that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple do profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

6 P ues les digo que algo mayor que el templo está aquí.

and I say to you, that a greater than the temple is here;

7 P ero si ustedes hubieran sabido lo que esto significa: ‘ Misericordia (compasion) quiero y no sacrificio,’ no hubieran condenado a los inocentes.

and if ye had known what is: Kindness I will, and not sacrifice -- ye had not condemned the blameless,

8 P orque el Hijo del Hombre es Señor del día de reposo.” Jesús Sana al Hombre de la Mano Seca

for the son of man is lord even of the sabbath.'

9 P asando de allí, entró en la sinagoga de ellos.

And having departed thence, he went to their synagogue,

10 Y allí estaba un hombre que tenía una mano seca (paralizada). Y para poder acusar a Jesús, le preguntaron: “¿Es lícito sanar en el día de reposo ?”

and lo, there was a man having the hand withered, and they questioned him, saying, `Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths?' that they might accuse him.

11 Y El les respondió: “¿Qué hombre habrá de ustedes que tenga una sola oveja, si ésta se le cae en un hoyo en el día de reposo, no le echa mano y la saca ?

And he said to them, `What man shall be of you, who shall have one sheep, and if this may fall on the sabbaths into a ditch, will not lay hold on it and raise ?

12 P ues, ¡cuánto más vale un hombre que una oveja! Por tanto, es lícito hacer bien en el día de reposo.”

How much better, therefore, is a man than a sheep? -- so that it is lawful on the sabbaths to do good.'

13 E ntonces Jesús dijo al hombre: “Extiende tu mano.” Y él la extendió, y le fue restaurada, sana como la otra.

Then saith he to the man, `Stretch forth thy hand,' and he stretched forth, and it was restored whole as the other.

14 P ero cuando los Fariseos salieron, hicieron planes contra El, para ver cómo Lo podrían destruir. Jesús, el Siervo Escogido

And the Pharisees having gone forth, held a consultation against him, how they might destroy him,

15 P ero Jesús, sabiéndo lo, se retiró de allí. Y muchos Lo siguieron, y los sanó a todos.

and Jesus having known, withdrew thence, and there followed him great multitudes, and he healed them all,

16 Y les advirtió que no revelaran quién era El;

and did charge them that they might not make him manifest,

17 p ara que se cumpliera lo que fue dicho por medio del profeta Isaías, cuando dijo:

that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

18 “ Este es Mi Siervo, a quien he escogido; Mi Amado en quien se agrada Mi Alma; sobre El pondre Mi Espiritu, y a las naciones (los gentiles) proclamara justicia.

`Lo, My servant, whom I did choose, My beloved, in whom My soul did delight, I will put My Spirit upon him, and judgment to the nations he shall declare,

19 N o contendera, ni gritara, ni habra quien en las calles oiga Su voz.

he shall not strive nor cry, nor shall any hear in the broad places his voice,

20 N o quebrara la caña cascada, ni apagara la mecha que humea, hasta que lleve a la victoria la justicia.

a bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench, till he may put forth judgment to victory,

21 Y en Su nombre las naciones (los gentiles) pondran su esperanza.” Jesús y Beelzebú

and in his name shall nations hope.'

22 E ntonces trajeron a Jesús un endemoniado ciego y mudo, y lo sanó, de manera que el mudo hablaba y veía.

Then was brought to him a demoniac, blind and dumb, and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

23 T odas las multitudes estaban asombradas, y decían: “¿Acaso no es éste el Hijo de David ?”

And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, `Is this the Son of David?'

24 P ero cuando los Fariseos lo oyeron, dijeron: “Este no expulsa los demonios sino por Beelzebú, el príncipe de los demonios.”

but the Pharisees having heard, said, `This one doth not cast out demons, except by Beelzeboul, ruler of the demons.'

25 C onociendo Jesús sus pensamientos, les dijo: “Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado, y toda ciudad o casa dividida contra sí misma no se mantendrá en pie.

And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them, `Every kingdom having been divided against itself is desolated, and no city or house having been divided against itself, doth stand,

26 S i Satanás expulsa a Satanás, está dividido contra sí mismo; ¿cómo puede entonces mantenerse en pie su reino?

and if the Adversary doth cast out the Adversary, against himself he was divided, how then doth his kingdom stand?

27 Y si Yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebú, ¿por quién los expulsan los hijos de ustedes ? Por tanto, ellos serán sus jueces.

`And if I, by Beelzeboul, do cast out the demons, your sons -- by whom do they cast out? because of this they -- they shall be your judges.

28 P ero si Yo expulso los demonios por el Espíritu de Dios, entonces el reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes.

`But if I, by the Spirit of God, do cast out the demons, then come already unto you did the reign of God.

29 ¿ O cómo puede alguien entrar en la casa de un hombre fuerte y saquear sus bienes, si primero no lo ata ? Y entonces saqueará su casa.

`Or how is one able to go into the house of the strong man, and to plunder his goods, if first he may not bind the strong man? and then his house he will plunder.

30 E l que no está a favor Mío, está contra Mí; y el que no recoge a Mi lado, desparrama.

`He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me, doth scatter.

31 “ Por eso les digo, que todo pecado y blasfemia será perdonado a los hombres, pero la blasfemia contra el Espíritu (Santo) no será perdonada.

Because of this I say to you, all sin and evil speaking shall be forgiven to men, but the evil speaking of the Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.

32 Y a cualquiera que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del Hombre, se le perdonará; pero al que hable contra el Espíritu Santo, no se le perdonará ni en este siglo ni en el venidero.

And whoever may speak a word against the Son of Man it shall be forgiven to him, but whoever may speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is coming.

33 “ O hagan ustedes bueno el árbol y bueno su fruto, o hagan malo el árbol y malo su fruto; porque por el fruto se conoce el árbol.

`Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad, for from the fruit is the tree known.

34 ¡ Camada de víboras! ¿Cómo pueden hablar cosas buenas siendo malos? Porque de la abundancia del corazón habla la boca.

`Brood of vipers! how are ye able to speak good things -- being evil? for out of the abundance of the heart doth the mouth speak.

35 E l hombre bueno de su buen tesoro saca cosas buenas; y el hombre malo de su mal tesoro saca cosas malas.

The good man out of the good treasure of the heart doth put forth the good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure doth put forth evil things.

36 P ero Yo les digo que de toda palabra vana que hablen los hombres, darán cuenta de ella en el día del juicio.

`And I say to you, that every idle word that men may speak, they shall give for it a reckoning in a day of judgment;

37 P orque por tus palabras serás justificado, y por tus palabras serás condenado.” Escribas y Fariseos Demandan Señal

for from thy words thou shalt be declared righteous, and from thy words thou shalt be declared unrighteous.'

38 E ntonces algunos de los escribas y Fariseos dijeron a Jesús: “Maestro, queremos ver una señal (un milagro) de parte Tuya.”

Then answered certain of the scribes and Pharisees, saying, `Teacher, we will to see a sign from thee.'

39 P ero El respondió: “ Una generación perversa y adúltera demanda señal, y ninguna señal (ningún milagro) se le dará, sino la señal de Jonás el profeta;

And he answering said to them, `A generation, evil and adulterous, doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;

40 p orque como estuvo Jonas en el vientre del monstruo marino tres dias y tres noches, así estará el Hijo del Hombre tres días y tres noches en el corazón de la tierra.

for, as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

41 L os hombres de Nínive se levantarán con esta generación en el juicio y la condenarán, porque ellos se arrepintieron con la predicación de Jonás; y miren, algo más grande que Jonás está aquí.

`Men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for they reformed at the proclamation of Jonah, and lo, a greater than Jonah here!

42 L a Reina del Sur se levantará con esta generación en el juicio y la condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para oír la sabiduría de Salomón; y miren, algo más grande que Salomón está aquí.

`A queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo, a greater than Solomon here!

43 “ Cuando el espíritu inmundo sale del hombre, pasa por lugares áridos buscando descanso y no lo halla.

`And, when the unclean spirit may go forth from the man, it doth walk through dry places seeking rest, and doth not find;

44 E ntonces dice: ‘Volveré a mi casa de donde salí’; y cuando llega, la encuentra desocupada, barrida y arreglada.

then it saith, I will turn back to my house whence I came forth; and having come, it findeth unoccupied, swept, and adorned:

45 E ntonces va, y toma consigo otros siete espíritus más depravados que él, y entrando, moran allí; y el estado final de aquel hombre resulta peor que el primero. Así será también con esta generación perversa.” La Madre y los Hermanos de Jesús

then doth it go, and take with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having gone in they dwell there, and the last of that man doth become worse than the first; so shall it be also to this evil generation.'

46 M ientras Jesús aún estaba hablando a la multitud, Su madre y Sus hermanos estaban afuera, deseando hablar con El.

And while he was yet speaking to the multitudes, lo, his mother and brethren had stood without, seeking to speak to him,

47 Y alguien Le dijo: “Tu madre y Tus hermanos están afuera y Te quieren hablar.”

and one said to him, `Lo, thy mother and thy brethren do stand without, seeking to speak to thee.'

48 P ero Jesús respondió al que Le informó: “¿Quién es Mi madre, y quiénes son Mis hermanos?”

And he answering said to him who spake to him, `Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?'

49 Y extendiendo la mano hacia Sus discípulos, dijo: “¡Miren, aquí están Mi madre y Mis hermanos!

And having stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, he said, `Lo, my mother and my brethren!

50 P orque cualquiera que hace la voluntad de Mi Padre que está en los cielos, ése es Mi hermano y Mi hermana y Mi madre.”

for whoever may do the will of my Father who is in the heavens, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.'
