1 E ntonces Josué reunió a todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem, llamó a los ancianos de Israel, a sus jefes, a sus jueces y a sus oficiales, y ellos se presentaron delante de Dios.

And Joshua gathereth all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and calleth for the elders of Israel, and for its heads, and for its judges, and for its authorities, and they station themselves before God.

2 Y Josué dijo a todo el pueblo: “Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: ‘Al otro lado del Río (Eufrates) habitaban antiguamente los padres de ustedes, es decir, Taré, padre de Abraham y de Nacor, y servían a otros dioses.

And Joshua saith unto all the people, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Beyond the River have your fathers dwelt of old -- Terah father of Abraham and father of Nachor -- and they serve other gods;

3 E ntonces tomé a Abraham, padre de ustedes, del otro lado del río y lo guié por toda la tierra de Canaán, multipliqué su descendencia y le di a Isaac.

and I take your father Abraham from beyond the River, and cause him to go through all the land of Canaan, and multiply his seed, and give to him Isaac.

4 A Isaac le di a Jacob y a Esaú, y a Esaú le di el Monte Seir para que lo poseyera; pero Jacob y sus hijos descendieron a Egipto.

And I give to Isaac, Jacob and Esau; and I give to Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his sons have gone down to Egypt.

5 E ntonces envié a Moisés y a Aarón, y herí con plagas a Egipto conforme a lo que hice en medio de él. Después los saqué a ustedes.

And I send Moses and Aaron, and plague Egypt, as I have done in its midst, and afterwards I have brought you out.

6 S aqué a sus padres de Egipto y llegaron al mar, y Egipto persiguió a sus padres con carros y caballería hasta el Mar Rojo.

And I bring out your fathers from Egypt, and ye go into the sea, and the Egyptians pursue after your fathers, with chariot and with horsemen, to the Red Sea;

7 P ero cuando clamaron al Señor, El puso tinieblas entre ustedes y los Egipcios, e hizo venir sobre ellos el mar, que los cubrió. Sus propios ojos vieron lo que hice en Egipto. Y por mucho tiempo ustedes vivieron en el desierto.

and they cry unto Jehovah, and He setteth thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and bringeth on them the sea, and covereth them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and ye dwell in a wilderness many days.

8 E ntonces los traje a la tierra de los Amorreos que habitaban al otro lado del Jordán, y ellos pelearon contra ustedes. Los entregué en sus manos, y tomaron posesión de su tierra cuando Yo los destruí delante de ustedes.

`And I bring you in unto the land of the Amorite who is dwelling beyond the Jordan, and they fight with you, and I give them into your hand, and ye possess their land, and I destroy them out of your presence.

9 D espués Balac, hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, se levantó y peleó contra Israel, y envió a llamar a Balaam, hijo de Beor, para que los maldijera.

`And Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, riseth and fighteth against Israel, and sendeth and calleth for Balaam son of Beor, to revile you,

10 P ero Yo no quise escuchar a Balaam; y él tuvo que bendecirlos a ustedes, y los libré de su mano.

and I have not been willing to hearken to Balaam, and he doth greatly bless you, and I deliver you out of his hand.

11 U stedes pasaron el Jordán y llegaron a Jericó. Los habitantes de Jericó pelearon contra ustedes, y también los Amorreos, los Ferezeos, los Cananeos, los Hititas, los Gergeseos, los Heveos y los Jebuseos, pero yo los entregué en sus manos.

`And ye pass over the Jordan, and come in unto Jericho, and fight against you do the possessors of Jericho -- the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite -- and I give them into your hand.

12 E ntonces envié delante de ustedes avispas que expulsaron a los dos reyes de los Amorreos de delante de ustedes, pero no fue por su espada ni por su arco.

And I send before you the hornet, and it casteth them out from your presence -- two kings of the Amorite -- not by thy sword, nor by thy bow.

13 Y les di a ustedes una tierra en que no habían trabajado, y ciudades que no habían edificado, y habitan en ellas. De viñas y olivares que no plantaron, comen.’

`And I give to you a land for which thou hast not laboured, and cities which ye have not built, and ye dwell in them; of vineyards and olive-yards which ye have not planted ye are eating.

14 “ Ahora pues, teman (reverencien) al Señor y sírvanle con integridad y con fidelidad. Quiten los dioses que sus padres sirvieron al otro lado del Río (Eufrates) y en Egipto, y sirvan al Señor.

`And now, fear ye Jehovah, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve ye Jehovah;

15 Y si no les parece bien servir al Señor, escojan hoy a quién han de servir: si a los dioses que sirvieron sus padres, que estaban al otro lado del río, o a los dioses de los Amorreos en cuya tierra habitan. Pero yo y mi casa, serviremos al Señor.”

and if wrong in your eyes to serve Jehovah -- choose for you to-day whom ye do serve; -- whether the gods whom your fathers served, which beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling; and I and my house -- we serve Jehovah.'

16 Y el pueblo respondió: “Lejos esté de nosotros abandonar al Señor para servir a otros dioses.

And the people answer and say, `Far be it from us to forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;

17 P orque el Señor nuestro Dios es el que nos sacó, a nosotros y a nuestros padres, de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre, el que hizo estas grandes señales delante de nosotros y nos guardó por todo el camino en que anduvimos y entre todos los pueblos por entre los cuales pasamos.

for Jehovah our God He who is bringing us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants, and who hath done before our eyes these great signs, and doth keep us in all the way in which we have gone, and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed;

18 Y el Señor echó de delante de nosotros a todos los pueblos, incluso a los Amorreos, que moraban en la tierra. Nosotros, pues, también serviremos al Señor, porque El es nuestro Dios.” Pacto del Pueblo en Siquem

and Jehovah casteth out the whole of the peoples, even the Amorite inhabiting the land, from our presence; we also do serve Jehovah, for He our God.'

19 E ntonces Josué dijo al pueblo: “Ustedes no podrán servir al Señor, porque El es Dios santo. El es Dios celoso; El no perdonará la transgresión de ustedes ni sus pecados.

And Joshua saith unto the people, `Ye are not able to serve Jehovah, for a God most holy He; a zealous God He; He doth not bear with your transgression and with your sins.

20 S i abandonan al Señor y sirven a dioses extranjeros, El se volverá y les hará daño, y los consumirá después de haberlos tratado bien.”

When ye forsake Jehovah, and have served gods of a stranger, then He hath turned back and done evil to you, and consumed you, after that He hath done good to you.'

21 R espondió el pueblo a Josué: “No, sino que serviremos al Señor.”

And the people saith unto Joshua, `No, but Jehovah we do serve.'

22 Y Josué dijo al pueblo: “Ustedes son testigos contra sí mismos de que han escogido al Señor para servirle.” “Testigos somos;” le contestaron.

And Joshua saith unto the people, `Witnesses ye are against yourselves, that ye have chosen for you Jehovah to serve Him (and they say, `Witnesses!')

23 “ Ahora pues,” les dijo Josué, “quiten los dioses extranjeros que están en medio de ustedes, e inclinen su corazón al Señor, Dios de Israel.”

and, now, turn aside the gods of the stranger which in your midst, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, God of Israel.'

24 Y el pueblo respondió a Josué: “Al Señor nuestro Dios serviremos y Su voz obedeceremos (escucharemos).”

And the people say unto Joshua, `Jehovah our God we serve, and to His voice we hearken.'

25 E ntonces Josué hizo un pacto con el pueblo aquel día, y les impuso estatutos y ordenanzas en Siquem.

And Joshua maketh a covenant with the people on that day, and layeth on it a statute and an ordinance, in Shechem.

26 J osué escribió estas palabras en el Libro de la Ley de Dios. Tomó una gran piedra y la colocó debajo de la encina que estaba junto al santuario del Señor.

And Joshua writeth these words in the Book of the Law of God, and taketh a great stone, and raiseth it up there under the oak which in the sanctuary of Jehovah.

27 Y Josué dijo a todo el pueblo: “Ciertamente esta piedra servirá de testigo contra nosotros, porque ella ha oído todas las palabras que el Señor ha hablado con nosotros. Será, pues, testigo contra ustedes para que no nieguen a su Dios.”

And Joshua saith unto all the people, `Lo, this stone is against us for a witness, for it hath heard all the sayings of Jehovah which He hath spoken with us, and it hath been against you for a witness, lest ye lie against your God.'

28 E ntonces Josué despidió al pueblo, cada uno a su heredad. Muerte de Josué

And Joshua sendeth the people away, each to his inheritance.

29 D espués de estas cosas Josué, hijo de Nun, siervo del Señor, murió a la edad de 110 años.

And it cometh to pass, after these things, that Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,

30 Y lo sepultaron en la tierra de su heredad, en Timnat Sera, que está en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte del Monte Gaas.

and they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Serah, which in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the hill of Gaash.

31 I srael sirvió al Señor todos los días de Josué y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué y que habían conocido todas las obras que el Señor había hecho por Israel.

And Israel serveth Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, and who knew all the work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.

32 L os huesos de José, que los Israelitas habían traído de Egipto, fueron sepultados en Siquem, en la parcela de campo que Jacob había comprado a los hijos de Hamor, padre de Siquem, por 100 monedas de plata. Y pasaron a ser posesión de los hijos de José.

And the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel brought up out of Egypt, they buried in Shechem, in the portion of the field which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor father of Shechem, with a hundred kesitah; and they are to the sons of Joseph for an inheritance.

33 Y murió Eleazar, hijo de Aarón. Lo sepultaron en Guibeá (en la colina) de su hijo Finees, que le había sido dada en la región montañosa de Efraín.

And Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.
