1 L os Filisteos reunieron todos sus ejércitos en Afec, mientras los Israelitas acamparon junto a la fuente que está en Jezreel.

And the Philistines gather all their camps to Aphek, and the Israelites are encamping at a fountain which in Jezreel,

2 Y los príncipes de los Filisteos iban avanzando por cientos y por miles, y David y sus hombres marchaban en la retaguardia con Aquis.

and the princes of the Philistines are passing on by hundreds, and by thousands, and David and his men are passing on in the rear with Achish.

3 E ntonces los jefes de los Filisteos dijeron: “¿Qué hacen aquí estos Hebreos?” Y Aquis dijo a los jefes de los Filisteos: “¿No ven que éste es David, el siervo de Saúl, rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo estos días, o más bien estos años, y no he hallado falta en él desde el día en que se pasó a mí hasta hoy ?”

And the heads of the Philistines say, `What these Hebrews?' and Achish saith unto the heads of the Philistines, `Is not this David servant of Saul king of Israel, who hath been with me these days or these years, and I have not found in him anything from the day of his falling away till this day.'

4 P ero los jefes de los Filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: “Haz que ese hombre se vaya, y regrese al lugar que le asignaste, y no le permitas que descienda a la batalla con nosotros, no sea que en la batalla se convierta en nuestro adversario. Pues, ¿con qué podría hacerse él aceptable a su señor? ¿No sería con las cabezas de estos hombres?

And the heads of the Philistines are wroth against him, and the heads of the Philistines say to him, `Send back the man, and he doth turn back unto his place whither thou hast appointed him, and doth not go down with us into battle, and is not to us for an adversary in battle; and wherewith doth this one reconcile himself unto his lord -- is it not with the heads of those men?'

5 ¿ No es éste David, de quien cantaban en las danzas, diciendo: ‘Saúl mató a sus miles, Y David a sus diez miles ’?”

Is not this David, of whom they answer in choruses, saying, Saul hath smitten among his thousands, and David among his myriads?'

6 A quis llamó a David y le dijo: “Vive el Señor que tú has sido recto; tu salir y tu entrar en el ejército conmigo son agradables a mis ojos, pues no he hallado mal en ti desde el día en que te pasaste a mí hasta hoy. Sin embargo, no eres agradable a los ojos de los príncipes.

And Achish calleth unto David, and saith unto him, `Jehovah liveth, surely thou upright, and good in mine eyes is thy going out, and thy coming in, with me in the camp, for I have not found in thee evil from the day of thy coming in unto me till this day; and in the eyes of the princes thou art not good;

7 A hora pues, vuelve y vete en paz, para que no desagrades a los príncipes de los Filisteos.”

and now, turn back, and go in peace, and thou dost do no evil in the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.'

8 Y David dijo a Aquis: “Pero, ¿qué he hecho? ¿Y qué ha hallado en su siervo desde el día en que estuve delante de usted hasta hoy, para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey?”

And David saith unto Achish, `But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant from the day that I have been before thee till this day -- that I go not in and have fought against the enemies of my lord the king?'

9 A quis respondió a David: “Yo sé que eres grato a mis ojos como un ángel de Dios; sin embargo, los comandantes de los Filisteos han dicho: ‘El no debe subir con nosotros a la batalla.’

And Achish answereth and saith unto David, `I have known that thou good in mine eyes as a messenger of God; only, the princes of the Philistines have said, He doth not go up with us into battle;

10 P or tanto, levántate muy de mañana con los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo, y luego que se hayan levantado temprano y haya claridad, partan de aquí.”

and now, rise thou early in the morning, and the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, when ye have risen early in the morning, and have light, then go ye.'

11 D avid, pues, se levantó temprano, él y sus hombres, para salir por la mañana y regresar a la tierra de los Filisteos. Y los Filisteos subieron a Jezreel.

And David riseth early, he and his men, to go in the morning, to turn back unto the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines have gone up to Jezreel.
