1 J osafat durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Su hijo Joram reinó en su lugar.

And Jehoshaphat lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigneth in his stead.

2 T enía varios hermanos, los hijos de Josafat: Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azaryahu, Micael y Sefatías. Todos estos eran hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.

And he hath brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel,

3 S u padre les había dado muchos presentes de plata, oro y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fortificadas en Judá, pero dio el reino a Joram porque era el primogénito.

and their father giveth to them many gifts of silver and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, and the kingdom he hath given to Jehoram, for He the first-born.

4 C uando Joram tomó posesión del reino de su padre y se hizo fuerte, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los jefes de Israel.

And Jehoram riseth up over the kingdom of his father, and strengtheneth himself, and slayeth all his brethren with the sword, and also -- of the heads of Israel.

5 J oram tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

A son of thirty and two years Jehoram in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

6 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, tal como había hecho la casa de Acab (pues la hija de Acab era su mujer ), e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor.

and he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab hath been to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

7 S in embargo el Señor no quiso destruir la casa de David a causa del pacto que había hecho con David, y porque le había prometido darle una lámpara a él y a sus hijos para siempre.

and Jehovah hath not been willing to destroy the house of David, for the sake of the covenant that He made with David, and as He had said to give to him a lamp, and to his sons -- all the days.

8 E n sus días se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre ellos.

In his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and cause a king to reign over them;

9 E ntonces pasó Joram con sus capitanes, y todos sus carros con él. Y levantándose de noche, atacó a los Edomitas que lo tenían cercado a él y a los capitanes de los carros.

and Jehoram passeth over with his heads, and all the chariots with him, and it cometh to pass, he hath risen by night and smiteth the Edomites who are coming round against him, and the princes of the chariots,

10 Y Edom continuó en rebeldía contra el dominio de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Entonces Libna se rebeló en ese mismo tiempo contra su dominio, porque había abandonado al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

and Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah unto this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time from under his hand, because he hath forsaken Jehovah, God of his fathers,

11 A demás, Joram hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, haciendo que los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyeran y que Judá se desviara.

also, he hath made high places in the mountains of Judah, and causeth the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom, and compelleth Judah.

12 E ntonces le llegó a Joram una carta del profeta Elías, que decía: “Así dice el Señor, Dios de tu padre David: ‘Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

And there cometh in unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, Because that thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13 s ino que has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que Judá y los habitantes de Israel se hayan prostituido como se prostituyó la casa de Acab, y también has matado a tus hermanos, tu propia familia, que eran mejores que tú,

and thou dost walk in the way of the kings of Israel, and dost cause Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom like the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also thy brethren, the house of thy father, who are better than thyself, thou hast slain;

14 e l Señor herirá con gran azote a tu pueblo, a tus hijos, a tus mujeres y a todas tus posesiones;

lo, Jehovah is smiting -- a great smiting -- among thy people, and among thy sons, and among thy wives, and among all thy goods --

15 y tú sufrirás una grave enfermedad, una enfermedad de los intestinos, hasta que día tras día se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad.’”

and thou, with many sicknesses, with disease of thy bowels, till thy bowels come out, by the sickness, day by day.'

16 E ntonces el Señor movió contra Joram el espíritu de los Filisteos y de los Arabes que eran vecinos de los Etíopes;

And Jehovah waketh up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who beside the Cushim,

17 l os cuales subieron contra Judá y la invadieron, y se llevaron todas las posesiones que se hallaban en la casa del rey, y también a sus hijos y a sus mujeres, de modo que no le quedó más hijo que Joacaz, el menor de sus hijos.

and they come up into Judah, and rend it, and take captive all the substance that is found at the house of the king, and also his sons, and his wives, and there hath not been left to him a son except Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

18 D espués de todo esto, el Señor hirió a Joram en los intestinos con una enfermedad incurable.

And after all this hath Jehovah plagued him in his bowels by a disease for which there is no healing,

19 C on el correr del tiempo, después de dos años, los intestinos se le salieron a causa de su enfermedad, y murió con grandes dolores. Su pueblo no le encendió una hoguera como la hoguera que habían encendido por sus padres.

and it cometh to pass, from days to days, and at the time of the going out of the end of two years, his bowels have gone out with his sickness, and he dieth of sore diseases, and his people have not made for him a burning like the burning of his fathers.

20 J oram tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén; y murió sin que nadie lo lamentara. Lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

A son of thirty and two was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he goeth without desire, and they bury him in the city of David, and not in the graves of the kings.
