1 E ntonces Eliseo dijo: “Oigan la palabra del Señor. Así dice el Señor: ‘Mañana como a esta hora en la Puerta de Samaria, una medida (7. 3 litros) de flor de harina se venderá a un siclo (11. 4 gr de plata), y dos medidas de cebada a un siclo.’”

And Elisha saith, `Hear ye a word of Jehovah: thus said Jehovah, About this time to-morrow, a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'

2 E l oficial real en cuyo brazo se apoyaba el rey, respondió al hombre de Dios, y dijo: “Mira, aunque el Señor hiciera ventanas en los cielos, ¿podría suceder tal cosa?” Entonces Eliseo dijo: “Bien, tú lo verás con tus propios ojos, pero no comerás de ello.”

And the captain whom the king hath, by whose hand he hath been supported, answereth the man of God and saith, `Lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens -- shall this thing be?' and he saith, `Lo, thou art seeing it with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat.'

3 H abía cuatro leprosos a la entrada de la puerta, y se dijeron el uno al otro: “¿Por qué estamos aquí sentados esperando la muerte ?

And four men have been leprous, at the opening of the gate, and they say one unto another, `What -- we are sitting here till we have died;

4 S i decimos: ‘Vamos a entrar en la ciudad,’ como el hambre está en la ciudad, moriremos allí; y si nos sentamos aquí, también moriremos. Ahora pues, vayamos y pasemos al campamento de los Arameos. Si nos perdonan la vida, viviremos; y si nos matan, pues moriremos.”

if we have said, We go in to the city, then the famine in the city, and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we fall unto the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death -- we have died.'

5 L os leprosos se levantaron al anochecer para ir al campamento de los Arameos, y cuando llegaron a las afueras del campamento de los Arameos, resultó que no había nadie allí.

And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,

6 P orque el Señor había hecho que el ejército de los Arameos oyera estruendo de carros y ruido de caballos, el estruendo de un gran ejército, de modo que se dijeron el uno al otro: “Ciertamente el rey de Israel ha tomado a sueldo contra nosotros a los reyes de los Hititas y a los reyes de los Egipcios, para que vengan contra nosotros.”

seeing Jehovah hath caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse -- a noise of great force, and they say one unto another, `Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.'

7 P or lo cual se levantaron y huyeron al anochecer, y abandonaron sus tiendas, sus caballos y sus asnos y el campamento tal como estaba, y huyeron para salvar sus vidas.

And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their asses -- the camp as it -- and flee for their life.

8 C uando los leprosos llegaron a las afueras del campamento, entraron en una tienda y comieron y bebieron, y se llevaron de allí plata y oro y ropas, y fueron y lo escondieron; y volvieron y entraron en otra tienda y de allí también se llevaron botín, y fueron y lo escondieron.

And these lepers come in unto the extremity of the camp, and come in unto one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up thence silver, and gold, and garments, and go and hide; and they turn back and go in unto another tent, and lift up thence, and go and hide.

9 E ntonces se dijeron el uno al otro: “No estamos haciendo bien. Hoy es día de buenas nuevas, pero nosotros estamos callados; si esperamos hasta la luz de la mañana, nos vendrá castigo. Vamos pues, ahora, y entremos a dar la noticia a la casa del rey.”

And they say one unto another, `We are not doing right this day; a day of tidings it, and we are keeping silent; and -- we have waited till the light of the morning, then hath punishment found us; and now, come and we go in and declare to the house of the king.'

10 A sí que fueron y llamaron a los porteros de la ciudad, y les informaron: “Fuimos al campamento de los Arameos, y vimos que no había nadie allí, ni siquiera se oía voz de hombre; solamente los caballos atados, también los asnos atados y las tiendas intactas.”

And they come in, and call unto the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, `We have come in unto the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not there a man, or sound of man, but the bound horse, and the bound ass, and tents as they.'

11 L os porteros de la puerta llamaron, y lo anunciaron dentro de la casa del rey.

and he calleth the gatekeepers, and they declare to the house of the king within.

12 E ntonces el rey se levantó de noche y dijo a sus siervos: “Ahora les diré lo que los Arameos nos han hecho. Saben que estamos hambrientos; por tanto han salido del campamento para esconderse en el campo, diciendo: ‘Cuando salgan de la ciudad, los tomaremos vivos y entraremos en la ciudad.’”

And the king riseth by night, and saith unto his servants, `Let me declare, I pray you, to you that which the Aramaeans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they are gone out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and unto the city we enter.'

13 E ntonces uno de sus siervos respondió: “Deja que algunos hombres tomen cinco de los caballos que quedan, de los que quedan en la ciudad. Porque en todo caso les sucederá como a toda la multitud de Israel que queda en la ciudad, (como a toda la multitud de Israel que ya ha perecido), vamos a enviar los y veamos qué sucede.”

And one of his servants answereth and saith, `Then let them take, I pray thee, five of the horses that are left, that have been left in it -- lo, they as all the multitude of Israel who have been left in it; lo, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been consumed -- and we send and see.'

14 A sí que tomaron dos carros con caballos, y el rey los envió en pos del ejército de los Arameos, diciendo: “Vayan y vean.”

And they take two chariot-horses, and the king sendeth after the camp of Aram, saying, `Go, and see.'

15 L os siguieron hasta el Jordán, y resultó que todo el camino estaba lleno de vestidos y objetos diferentes que los Arameos habían arrojado en su prisa. Entonces los mensajeros volvieron e informaron al rey.

And they go after them unto the Jordan, and lo, all the way is full of garments and vessels that the Aramaeans have cast away in their haste, and the messengers turn back and declare to the king.

16 Y el pueblo salió y saqueó el campamento de los Arameos. Entonces una medida de flor de harina se vendió a un siclo y dos medidas de cebada a un siclo, conforme a la palabra del Señor.

And the people go out and spoil the camp of Aram, and there is a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.

17 E l rey había puesto a cargo de la puerta de la ciudad al oficial real en cuyo brazo se apoyaba; pero el pueblo lo atropelló junto a la puerta y murió, tal como había dicho el hombre de Dios, el cual habló cuando el rey descendió a verlo.

And the king hath appointed the captain, by whose hand he is supported, over the gate, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth, as the man of God spake, which he spake in the coming down of the king unto him,

18 A conteció tal como el hombre de Dios había hablado al rey, cuando dijo: “Mañana a estas horas a la Puerta de Samaria dos medidas de cebada serán vendidas a un siclo y una medida de flor de harina a un siclo.”

yea, it cometh to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God unto the king, saying, `Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time to-morrow, in the gate of Samaria;'

19 Y el oficial real, había respondido al hombre de Dios, diciendo: “Mira, aunque el Señor hiciera ventanas en los cielos, ¿podría suceder tal cosa?” Y Eliseo le dijo: “Bien, tú lo verás con tus propios ojos, pero no comerás de ello.”

and the captain answereth the man of God, and saith, `And lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens -- it is according to this word?' and he saith, `Lo, thou art seeing with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat;'

20 Y así sucedió, porque el pueblo lo atropelló a la puerta, y murió.

and it cometh to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth.
