1 D ijo entonces Eliseo: Oíd palabra de Jehová: Así dijo Jehová: Mañana a estas horas valdrá el seah de flor de harina un siclo, y dos seahs de cebada un siclo, a la puerta de Samaria.

And Elisha saith, `Hear ye a word of Jehovah: thus said Jehovah, About this time to-morrow, a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'

2 Y un príncipe sobre cuyo brazo el rey se apoyaba, respondió al varón de Dios y dijo: Mira, Jehová va a hacer ventanas en el cielo, ¿será esto así? Y él dijo: He aquí tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.

And the captain whom the king hath, by whose hand he hath been supported, answereth the man of God and saith, `Lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens -- shall this thing be?' and he saith, `Lo, thou art seeing it with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat.'

3 H abía a la entrada de la puerta cuatro hombres leprosos, los cuales dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Para qué nos estamos aquí hasta que muramos?

And four men have been leprous, at the opening of the gate, and they say one unto another, `What -- we are sitting here till we have died;

4 S i tratamos de entrar en la ciudad, por el hambre que hay en la ciudad moriremos en ella; y si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Vamos, pues, ahora, y pasemos al campamento de los sirios; si ellos nos dan la vida, viviremos; y si nos dan la muerte, moriremos.

if we have said, We go in to the city, then the famine in the city, and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we fall unto the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death -- we have died.'

5 S e levantaron, pues, al anochecer, para ir al campamento de los sirios; y llegando a la entrada del campamento de los sirios, no había allí nadie.

And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,

6 P orque Jehová había hecho que en el campamento de los sirios se oyese estruendo de carros, ruido de caballos, y estrépito de gran ejército; y se dijeron unos a otros: He aquí, el rey de Israel ha tomado a sueldo contra nosotros a los reyes de los heteos y a los reyes de los egipcios, para que vengan contra nosotros.

seeing Jehovah hath caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse -- a noise of great force, and they say one unto another, `Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.'

7 Y así se levantaron y huyeron al anochecer, abandonando sus tiendas, sus caballos, sus asnos, y el campamento como estaba; y habían huido para salvar sus vidas.

And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their asses -- the camp as it -- and flee for their life.

8 C uando los leprosos llegaron a la entrada del campamento, entraron en una tienda y comieron y bebieron, y tomaron de allí plata y oro y vestidos, y fueron y lo escondieron; y vueltos, entraron en otra tienda, y de allí también tomaron, y fueron y lo escondieron. Fin del asedio y del hambre

And these lepers come in unto the extremity of the camp, and come in unto one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up thence silver, and gold, and garments, and go and hide; and they turn back and go in unto another tent, and lift up thence, and go and hide.

9 L uego se dijeron el uno al otro: No estamos haciendo bien. Hoy es día de buena nueva, y nosotros callamos; y si esperamos hasta el amanecer, incurriremos en culpa. Vamos, pues, ahora, entremos y demos la nueva en casa del rey.

And they say one unto another, `We are not doing right this day; a day of tidings it, and we are keeping silent; and -- we have waited till the light of the morning, then hath punishment found us; and now, come and we go in and declare to the house of the king.'

10 V inieron, pues, y gritaron a los guardas de la puerta de la ciudad, y les declararon, diciendo: Nosotros fuimos al campamento de los sirios, y he aquí que no había allí nadie, ni voz de hombre, sino caballos atados, asnos también atados, y el campamento intacto.

And they come in, and call unto the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, `We have come in unto the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not there a man, or sound of man, but the bound horse, and the bound ass, and tents as they.'

11 L os porteros gritaron, y lo anunciaron dentro, en el palacio del rey.

and he calleth the gatekeepers, and they declare to the house of the king within.

12 Y se levantó el rey de noche, y dijo a sus siervos: Yo os declararé lo que nos han hecho los sirios. Ellos saben que tenemos hambre, y han salido de las tiendas y se han escondido en el campo, diciendo: Cuando hayan salido de la ciudad, los tomaremos vivos, y entraremos en la ciudad.

And the king riseth by night, and saith unto his servants, `Let me declare, I pray you, to you that which the Aramaeans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they are gone out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and unto the city we enter.'

13 E ntonces respondió uno de sus siervos y dijo: Tomen ahora cinco de los caballos que han quedado en la ciudad (porque los que quedan aquí también perecerán como toda la multitud de Israel que ya ha perecido), y enviemos a ver qué ocurre.

And one of his servants answereth and saith, `Then let them take, I pray thee, five of the horses that are left, that have been left in it -- lo, they as all the multitude of Israel who have been left in it; lo, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been consumed -- and we send and see.'

14 T omaron, pues, dos caballos de un carro, y envió el rey al campamento de los sirios, diciendo: Id y ved.

And they take two chariot-horses, and the king sendeth after the camp of Aram, saying, `Go, and see.'

15 Y ellos fueron, y los siguieron hasta el Jordán; y he aquí que todo el camino estaba lleno de vestidos y enseres que los sirios habían arrojado por la premura. Y volvieron los mensajeros y lo hicieron saber al rey.

And they go after them unto the Jordan, and lo, all the way is full of garments and vessels that the Aramaeans have cast away in their haste, and the messengers turn back and declare to the king.

16 E ntonces el pueblo salió, y saqueó el campamento de los sirios. Y fue vendido un seah de flor de harina por un siclo, y dos seahs de cebada por un siclo, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.

And the people go out and spoil the camp of Aram, and there is a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.

17 Y el rey había puesto de vigilancia en la puerta a aquel príncipe sobre cuyo brazo él se apoyaba; y lo atropelló el pueblo en la puerta, y murió, conforme a lo que había dicho el varón de Dios, cuando el rey descendió a él.

And the king hath appointed the captain, by whose hand he is supported, over the gate, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth, as the man of God spake, which he spake in the coming down of the king unto him,

18 A conteció, pues, de la manera que el varón de Dios había hablado al rey, diciendo: Dos seahs de cebada por un siclo, y el seah de flor de harina será vendido por un siclo mañana a estas horas, a la puerta de Samaria.

yea, it cometh to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God unto the king, saying, `Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time to-morrow, in the gate of Samaria;'

19 A lo cual aquel príncipe había respondido al varón de Dios, diciendo: Mira, Jehová va a hacer ventanas en el cielo, ¿podrá suceder esto? Y él dijo: He aquí tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.

and the captain answereth the man of God, and saith, `And lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens -- it is according to this word?' and he saith, `Lo, thou art seeing with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat;'

20 Y le sucedió así; porque el pueblo le atropelló en la puerta, y murió.

and it cometh to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth.
