1 T e encargo solemnemente delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, que va a juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos por su manifestación y por su reino,

I do fully testify, then, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is about to judge living and dead at his manifestation and his reign --

2 q ue prediques la palabra; que instes a tiempo y fuera de tiempo; redarguye, reprende, exhorta con toda paciencia y enseñanza.

preach the word; be earnest in season, out of season, convict, rebuke, exhort, in all long-suffering and teaching,

3 P orque vendrá tiempo cuando no sufrirán la sana doctrina, sino que teniendo comezón de oír, acumularán para sí maestros conforme a sus propias concupiscencias,

for there shall be a season when the sound teaching they will not suffer, but according to their own desires to themselves they shall heap up teachers -- itching in the hearing,

4 y apartarán de la verdad el oído y se volverán a las fábulas.

and indeed, from the truth the hearing they shall turn away, and to the fables they shall be turned aside.

5 P ero tú sé sobrio en todo, soporta las aflicciones, haz obra de evangelista, cumple tu ministerio.

And thou -- watch in all things; suffer evil; do the work of one proclaiming good news; of thy ministration make full assurance,

6 P orque yo ya estoy siendo derramado, y el tiempo de mi partida es inminente.

for I am already being poured out, and the time of my release hath arrived;

7 H e peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe.

the good strife I have striven, the course I have finished, the faith I have kept,

8 P or lo demás, me está guardada la corona de justicia, la cual me dará el Señor, el juez justo, en aquel día; y no sólo a mí, sino también a todos los que aman su venida. Encargos personales

henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of the righteousness that the Lord -- the Righteous Judge -- shall give to me in that day, and not only to me, but also to all those loving his manifestation.

9 P rocura venir pronto a verme,

Be diligent to come unto me quickly,

10 p orque Demas me ha desamparado, amando este mundo, y se ha ido a Tesalónica. Crescente fue a Galacia, y Tito a Dalmacia.

for Demas forsook me, having loved the present age, and went on to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia,

11 S ólo Lucas está conmigo. Toma a Marcos y tráele contigo, porque me es útil para el ministerio.

Lukas only is with me; Markus having taken, bring with thyself, for he is profitable to me for ministration;

12 A Tíquico lo envié a Éfeso.

and Tychicus I sent to Ephesus;

13 T rae, cuando vengas, el capote que dejé en Tróade en casa de Carpo, y los libros, especialmente los pergaminos.

the cloak that I left in Troas with Carpus, coming, bring thou and the books -- especially the parchments.

14 A lejandro el calderero me ha causado muchos males; el Señor le retribuirá conforme a sus hechos.

Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil; may the Lord repay to him according to his works,

15 G uárdate tú también de él, pues en gran manera se ha opuesto a nuestras palabras.

of whom also do thou beware, for greatly hath he stood against our words;

16 E n mi primera defensa ninguno estuvo a mi lado, sino que todos me desampararon; no les sea tomado en cuenta.

in my first defence no one stood with me, but all forsook me, (may it not be reckoned to them!)

17 P ero el Señor estuvo a mi lado, y me revistió de poder, para que por medio de mí fuese cumplida la predicación, y que todos los gentiles la oyesen. Y fui librado de la boca del león.

and the Lord stood by me, and did strengthen me, that through me the preaching might be fully assured, and all the nations might hear, and I was freed out of the mouth of a lion,

18 Y el Señor me librará de toda obra mala, y me preservará para su reino celestial. A él sea la gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Saludos y bendición final

and the Lord shall free me from every evil work, and shall save -- to his heavenly kingdom; to whom the glory to the ages of the ages! Amen.

20 E rasto se quedó en Corinto, y a Trófimo lo dejé en Mileto enfermo.

Erastus did remain in Corinth, and Trophimus I left in Miletus infirm;

21 P rocura venir antes del invierno. Eubulo te saluda, y Pudente, Lino, Claudia y todos los hermanos.

be diligent to come before winter. Salute thee doth Eubulus, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

22 E l Señor Jesucristo esté con tu espíritu. La gracia sea con vosotros. Amén.
