1 M e dijo Jehová: Aunque Moisés y Samuel se pusieran delante de mí, no estará mi voluntad con este pueblo; échalos de mi presencia, y salgan.

And Jehovah saith unto me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out.

2 Y si te preguntan: ¿Adónde saldremos?, les dirás: Así dice Jehová: El que a muerte, a muerte; el que a espada, a espada; el que a hambre, a hambre; y el que a cautiverio, a cautiverio.

And it hath come to pass, when they say to thee, Whither do we go out? that thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah: Those who for death -- to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity.

3 Y enviaré sobre ellos cuatro géneros de castigo, dice Jehová: espada para matar, y perros para despedazar, y aves del cielo y bestias de la tierra para devorar y destruir.

And I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Jehovah, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour.

4 Y los entregaré para horror entre todos los reinos de la tierra, a causa de Manasés, hijo de Ezequías, rey de Judá, por lo que hizo en Jerusalén.

And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.

5 P orque ¿quién tendrá compasión de ti, oh Jerusalén? ¿Quién se entristecerá por tu causa, o quién vendrá a preguntar por tu paz?

For who hath pity on thee, O Jerusalem? And who doth bemoan for thee? And who turneth aside to ask of thy welfare?

6 T ú me dejaste, dice Jehová; te volviste atrás; por tanto, yo extenderé sobre ti mi mano y te destruiré; estoy cansado de arrepentirme.

Thou -- thou hast left Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Backward thou goest, And I stretch out My hand against thee, And I destroy thee, I have been weary of repenting,

7 Y voy a aventarlos con aventador hasta las puertas de la tierra; dejé sin hijos a mi pueblo y lo desbaraté, puesto que no se volvieron de sus caminos.

And I scatter them with a fan, in the gates the land, I bereaved, I have destroyed My people, From their ways they turned not back.

8 S us viudas se me multiplicaron más que la arena del mar; traigo contra ellos destruidor a mediodía sobre la madre y sobre los hijos; hago que de repente caigan terrores sobre la ciudad.

Its widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them -- against the mother -- A young man -- a spoiler -- at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble.

9 L anguidece la que dio a luz siete; se llena de dolor su alma, su sol se ha puesto siendo aún de día; está avergonzada y llena de confusión; y lo que de ella quede, lo entregaré a la espada delante de sus enemigos, dice Jehová. Lamentos del profeta

Languished hath the bearer of seven, She hath breathed out her spirit, Gone in hath her sun while yet day, It hath been ashamed and confounded, And their residue to the sword I give up before their enemies, An affirmation of Jehovah.

10 ¡ Ay de mí, madre mía, que me engendraste un hombre de contienda y un hombre de discordia para toda la tierra! Nunca he dado ni tomado en préstamo, pero todos me maldicen.

Wo to me, my mother, For thou hast borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me -- All of them are reviling me.

11 D ice Jehová: Ciertamente te pondré en libertad para bien; de cierto haré que el enemigo suplique ante ti en el tiempo de la aflicción y en la época de la angustia.

Jehovah said, Did I not direct thee for good? Did not I intercede for thee in a time of evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy?

12 ¿ Puede quebrarse el hierro, el hierro del norte y el bronce?

Doth one break iron -- northern iron, and brass?

13 T us riquezas y tus tesoros entregaré a la rapiña sin ningún precio, por todos tus pecados, y en todo tu territorio.

Thy strength and thy treasures For a prey I do give -- not for price, Even for all thy sins, and in all thy borders.

14 Y te haré servir a tus enemigos en tierra que no conoces; porque se ha encendido un fuego en mi furor, y arderá sobre vosotros.

And I have caused thine enemies To pass over into the land -- Thou hast not known, For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, Against you it doth burn.

15 T ú lo sabes, oh Jehová; acuérdate de mí, y visítame, y véngame de mis enemigos. No me dejes perecer en la prolongación de tu enojo; sabes que por amor de ti sufro afrenta.

Thou, Thou hast known, O Jehovah, Remember me, and inspect me, And take vengeance for me of my pursuers, In Thy long-suffering take me not away, Know -- I have borne for Thee reproach.

16 F ueron halladas tus palabras, y yo las comí; y tus palabras fueron para mí un gozo y la alegría de mi corazón; porque tu nombre se invocó sobre mí, oh Jehová Dios de los ejércitos.

Thy words have been found, and I eat them, And Thy word is to me for a joy, And for the rejoicing of my heart, For Thy name is called on me, O Jehovah, God of Hosts.

17 N o me senté en compañía de gente alegre, ni me regocijé; me senté solo por causa de tu mano, porque me llenaste de indignación.

I have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of thy hand, -- Alone I have sat, For indignation Thou hast filled me.

18 ¿ Por qué es perpetuo mi dolor, y mi herida desahuciada hasta rehusar curación? ¿Serás para mí como arroyo ilusorio, como aguas que no son estables? Dios consuela a Jeremías

Why hath my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It hath refused to be healed, Thou art surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast.

19 P or tanto, así dice Jehová: Si te vuelves, yo te restauraré y delante de mí estarás; y si entresacas lo precioso de lo vil, serás como mi boca. Que se vuelvan ellos a ti, y tú no te vuelvas a ellos.

Therefore, thus said Jehovah: If thou turnest back, then I bring thee back, Before Me thou dost stand, And if thou bringest out the precious from the vile, As My mouth thou art! They -- they turn back unto thee, And thou dost not turn back unto them.

20 Y te pondré en este pueblo por muro fortificado de bronce, y pelearán contra ti, pero no prevalecerán contra ti; porque yo estoy contigo para guardarte y para librarte, dice Jehová.

And I have made thee to this people For a wall -- brazen -- fenced, And they have fought against thee, And they do not prevail against thee, For with thee I to save thee, And to deliver thee -- an affirmation of Jehovah,

21 Y te libraré de la mano de los malvados, y te redimiré de la mano de los terribles.

And I have delivered thee from the hand of evil doers, And I have ransomed thee From the hand of the terrible!
