1 Y Balaam dijo a Balac: Edifícame aquí siete altares, y prepárame aquí siete becerros y siete carneros.

And Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this seven altars, and make ready for me in this seven bullocks and seven rams.'

2 B alac hizo como le dijo Balaam; y ofrecieron Balac y Balaam un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

And Balak doth as Balaam hath spoken, and Balak -- Balaam also -- offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar,

3 Y Balaam dijo a Balac: Ponte junto a tu holocausto, y yo iré; quizá Jehová me vendrá al encuentro, y cualquier cosa que me muestre, te avisaré. Y se fue a un monte descubierto. Oráculos de Balaam

and Balaam saith to Balak, `Station thyself by thy burnt-offering and I go on, it may be Jehovah doth come to meet me, and the thing which He sheweth me -- I have declared to thee;' and he goeth a high place.

4 Y vino Dios al encuentro de Balaam, y éste le dijo: Siete altares he ordenado, y en cada altar he ofrecido un becerro y un carnero.

And God cometh unto Balaam, and he saith unto Him, `The seven altars I have arranged, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar;'

5 Y Jehová puso palabra en la boca de Balaam, y le dijo: Vuelve a Balac, y dile así.

and Jehovah putteth a word in the mouth of Balaam, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

6 Y volvió a él, y he aquí estaba él junto a su holocausto, él y todos los príncipes de Moab.

And he turneth back unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab.

7 Y él tomó su parábola, y dijo: De Aram me trajo Balac, Rey de Moab, de los montes del oriente; Ven, maldíceme a Jacob, Y ven, execra a Israel.

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `From Aram he doth lead me -- Balak king of Moab; From mountains of the east: Come -- curse for me Jacob, And come -- be indignant Israel.

8 ¿ Por qué maldeciré yo al que Dios no maldijo? ¿Y por qué he de execrar al que Jehová no ha execrado?

What -- do I pierce? -- God hath not pierced! And what -- am I indignant? -- Jehovah hath not been indignant!

9 P orque de la cumbre de las peñas lo veré, Y desde los collados lo miraré; He aquí un pueblo que habitará confiado, Y no será contado entre las naciones.

For from the top of rocks I see it, And from heights I behold it; Lo a people! alone it doth tabernacle, And among nations doth not reckon itself.

10 ¿ Quién contará el polvo de Jacob, O el número de la cuarta parte de Israel? Muera yo la muerte de los rectos, Y mi postrimería sea como la suya.

Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!'

11 E ntonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué me has hecho? Te he traído para que maldigas a mis enemigos, y he aquí has proferido bendiciones.

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `What hast thou done to me? to pierce mine enemies I have taken thee -- and lo, thou hast certainly blessed;'

12 É l respondió y dijo: ¿No cuidaré de decir lo que Jehová ponga en mi boca?

and he answereth and saith, `That which Jehovah doth put in my mouth -- it do I not take heed to speak?'

13 Y dijo Balac: Te ruego que vengas conmigo a otro lugar desde el cual los veas; solamente los más cercanos verás, y no los verás todos; y desde allí me los maldecirás.

And Balak saith unto him, `Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, whence thou dost see it, only its extremity thou dost see, and all of it thou dost not see, and pierce it for me thence;'

14 Y lo llevó al campo de Zofim, a la cumbre del Pisgá, y edificó siete altares, y ofreció un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

and he taketh him the field of Zophim, unto the top of Pisgah, and buildeth seven altars, and offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar.

15 E ntonces él dijo a Balac: Ponte aquí junto a tu holocausto, y yo iré a encontrar a Dios allí.

And he saith unto Balak, `Station thyself here by thy burnt-offering, and I -- I meet there;'

16 Y Jehová salió al encuentro de Balaam, y puso palabra en su boca, y le dijo: Vuelve a Balac, y dile así.

and Jehovah cometh unto Balaam, and setteth a word in his mouth, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

17 Y vino a él, y he aquí que él estaba junto a su holocausto, y con él los príncipes de Moab; y le dijo Balac: ¿Qué ha dicho Jehová?

And he cometh unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him, and Balak saith to him: `What hath Jehovah spoken?'

18 E ntonces él tomó su parábola, y dijo: Balac, levántate y oye; Escucha mis palabras, hijo de Zipor:

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear unto me, son of Zippor!

19 D ios no es hombre, para que mienta, Ni hijo de hombre, para que se arrepienta. Él dijo, ¿y no hará? Habló, ¿y no lo ejecutará?

God not a man -- and lieth, And a son of man -- and repenteth! Hath He said -- and doth He not do ? And spoken -- and doth He not confirm it?

20 H e aquí, he recibido orden de bendecir; Él dio bendición, y no podré revocarla.

Lo, to bless I have received: Yea, He blesseth, and I not reverse it.

21 N o ha notado iniquidad en Jacob, Ni ha visto perversidad en Israel. Jehová su Dios está con él, Y es aclamado como rey.

He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor hath He seen perverseness in Israel; Jehovah his God with him, And a shout of a king in him.

22 D ios los ha sacado de Egipto; Y tiene fuerzas como de búfalo,

God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a Reem is to him;

23 P orque contra Jacob no hay agüero, Ni adivinación contra Israel. Como ahora será dicho de Jacob y de Israel: ¡Lo que ha hecho Dios!

For no enchantment against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, What hath God wrought!

24 H e aquí un pueblo que se levanta como leona, Y como león se erguirá; No se echará hasta que devore la presa, Y beba la sangre de sus víctimas.

Lo, the people as a lioness riseth, And as a lion he lifteth himself up, He lieth not down till he eateth prey, And blood of pierced ones doth drink.'

25 E ntonces Balac dijo a Balaam: Ya que no lo maldices, tampoco lo bendigas.

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all;'

26 B alaam respondió y dijo a Balac: ¿No te he dicho que todo lo que Jehová me diga, eso tengo que hacer?

and Balaam answereth and saith unto Balak, `Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh -- it I do?'

27 Y dijo Balac a Balaam: Te ruego que vengas, te llevaré a otro lugar; por ventura parecerá bien a Dios que desde allí me lo maldigas.

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Come, I pray thee, I take thee unto another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God -- to pierce it for me from thence.'

28 Y Balac llevó a Balaam a la cumbre de Peor, que mira hacia el desierto.

And Balak taketh Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness,

29 E ntonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Edifícame aquí siete altares, y prepárame aquí siete becerros y siete carneros.

30 Y Balac hizo como Balaam le dijo; y ofreció un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

and Balak doth as Balaam said, and he offereth a bullock and a ram on an altar.
