1 E ntonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Constrúyeme aquí siete altares y prepárame aquí siete novillos y siete carneros.

And Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this seven altars, and make ready for me in this seven bullocks and seven rams.'

2 Y Balac hizo tal como Balaam le había dicho, y Balac y Balaam ofrecieron un novillo y un carnero en cada altar.

And Balak doth as Balaam hath spoken, and Balak -- Balaam also -- offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar,

3 E ntonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Ponte junto a tu holocausto, y yo iré; quizá el Señor venga a mi encuentro, y lo que me manifieste te lo haré saber. Y se fue a un cerro pelado.

and Balaam saith to Balak, `Station thyself by thy burnt-offering and I go on, it may be Jehovah doth come to meet me, and the thing which He sheweth me -- I have declared to thee;' and he goeth a high place.

4 D ios salió al encuentro de Balaam, y éste le dijo: He preparado los siete altares y he ofrecido un novillo y un carnero sobre cada altar.

And God cometh unto Balaam, and he saith unto Him, `The seven altars I have arranged, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar;'

5 Y el Señor puso palabra en la boca de Balaam, y le dijo: Vuelve a Balac y así hablarás.

and Jehovah putteth a word in the mouth of Balaam, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

6 E l entonces volvió a Balac, y he aquí que estaba junto a su holocausto, él y todos los jefes de Moab.

And he turneth back unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab.

7 Y comenzó su profecía, y dijo: Desde Aram me ha traído Balac, rey de Moab, desde los montes del oriente: “Ven, y maldíceme a Jacob; ven, y condena a Israel.”

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `From Aram he doth lead me -- Balak king of Moab; From mountains of the east: Come -- curse for me Jacob, And come -- be indignant Israel.

8 ¿ Cómo maldeciré a quien Dios no ha maldecido? ¿Cómo condenaré a quien el Señor no ha condenado ?

What -- do I pierce? -- God hath not pierced! And what -- am I indignant? -- Jehovah hath not been indignant!

9 P orque desde la cumbre de las peñas lo veo, y desde los montes lo observo. He aquí, es un pueblo que mora aparte, y que no será contado entre las naciones.

For from the top of rocks I see it, And from heights I behold it; Lo a people! alone it doth tabernacle, And among nations doth not reckon itself.

10 ¿ Quién puede contar el polvo de Jacob, o numerar la cuarta parte de Israel ? Muera yo la muerte de los rectos, y sea mi fin como el suyo. Segunda profecía

Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!'

11 E ntonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué me has hecho? Te tomé para maldecir a mis enemigos, pero mira, ¡los has llenado de bendiciones!

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `What hast thou done to me? to pierce mine enemies I have taken thee -- and lo, thou hast certainly blessed;'

12 Y él respondió y dijo: ¿No debo tener cuidado de hablar lo que el Señor pone en mi boca ?

and he answereth and saith, `That which Jehovah doth put in my mouth -- it do I not take heed to speak?'

13 B alac le dijo entonces: Te ruego que vengas conmigo a otro sitio desde donde podrás verlos, aunque sólo verás el extremo de ellos, y no los verás a todos; y desde allí maldícemelos.

And Balak saith unto him, `Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, whence thou dost see it, only its extremity thou dost see, and all of it thou dost not see, and pierce it for me thence;'

14 L o llevó al campo de Zofim, sobre la cumbre del Pisga, y edificó siete altares y ofreció un novillo y un carnero en cada altar.

and he taketh him the field of Zophim, unto the top of Pisgah, and buildeth seven altars, and offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar.

15 Y él dijo a Balac: Ponte aquí junto a tu holocausto, mientras voy allá a encontrarme con el Señor.

And he saith unto Balak, `Station thyself here by thy burnt-offering, and I -- I meet there;'

16 E l Señor salió al encuentro de Balaam y puso palabra en su boca y le dijo: Vuelve a Balac y así hablarás.

and Jehovah cometh unto Balaam, and setteth a word in his mouth, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

17 Y él volvió a Balac, y he aquí, estaba de pie junto a su holocausto, y los jefes de Moab con él. Y Balac le dijo: ¿Qué ha dicho el Señor ?

And he cometh unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him, and Balak saith to him: `What hath Jehovah spoken?'

18 Y comenzó su profecía, y dijo: Levántate, Balac, y escucha; dame oídos, hijo de Zipor.

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear unto me, son of Zippor!

19 D ios no es hombre, para que mienta, ni hijo de hombre, para que se arrepienta. ¿Lo ha dicho El, y no lo hará ?, ¿ha hablado, y no lo cumplirá?

God not a man -- and lieth, And a son of man -- and repenteth! Hath He said -- and doth He not do ? And spoken -- and doth He not confirm it?

20 M ira, he recibido orden de bendecir; si El ha bendecido, yo no lo puedo anular.

Lo, to bless I have received: Yea, He blesseth, and I not reverse it.

21 E l no ha observado iniquidad en Jacob, ni ha visto malicia en Israel; está en él el Señor su Dios, y el júbilo de un rey está en él.

He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor hath He seen perverseness in Israel; Jehovah his God with him, And a shout of a king in him.

22 D ios lo saca de Egipto; es para él como los cuernos del búfalo.

God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a Reem is to him;

23 P orque no hay agüero contra Jacob, ni hay adivinación contra Israel. A su tiempo se le dirá a Jacob y a Israel: ¡ Ved lo que ha hecho Dios!

For no enchantment against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, What hath God wrought!

24 H e aquí, un pueblo se levanta como leona, y se yergue como león; no se echará hasta que devore la presa y beba la sangre de los que ha matado.

Lo, the people as a lioness riseth, And as a lion he lifteth himself up, He lieth not down till he eateth prey, And blood of pierced ones doth drink.'

25 E ntonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¡De ninguna manera los maldigas ni los bendigas!

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all;'

26 P ero Balaam respondió y dijo a Balac: ¿No te dije que todo lo que el Señor habla, eso debo hacer ?

and Balaam answereth and saith unto Balak, `Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh -- it I do?'

27 Y Balac dijo a Balaam: Ven, te ruego, te llevaré a otro lugar; quizá le plazca a Dios que me los maldigas desde allí.

And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Come, I pray thee, I take thee unto another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God -- to pierce it for me from thence.'

28 E ntonces Balac llevó a Balaam a la cumbre del Peor, que da hacia el desierto.

And Balak taketh Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness,

29 Y Balaam dijo a Balac: Constrúyeme aquí siete altares y prepárame aquí siete novillos y siete carneros.

and Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this seven altars, and make ready for me in this seven bullocks and seven rams;'

30 B alac hizo tal como Balaam le había dicho y ofreció un novillo y un carnero en cada altar.

and Balak doth as Balaam said, and he offereth a bullock and a ram on an altar.
