1 E l destructor ha subido contra ti. Monta guardia en la fortaleza, vigila el camino; fortalece tus lomos, refuerza más tu poder.

Come up hath a scatterer to thy face, Keep the bulwark, watch the way, Strengthen the loins, strengthen power mightily.

2 P orque el Señor restaurará la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel, aunque devastadores los han devastado y destruido sus sarmientos.

For turned back hath Jehovah to the excellency of Jacob, As the excellency of Israel, For emptied them out have emptiers, And their branches they have marred.

3 E l escudo de los valientes es rojo, los guerreros están vestidos de escarlata, y de acero centelleante los carros cuando están en formación, y se blanden las lanzas de ciprés.

The shield of his mighty ones is become red, Men of might scarlet, With fiery torches the chariot in a day of his preparation, And the firs have been caused to tremble.

4 P or las calles corren furiosos los carros, se precipitan por las plazas, su aspecto es semejante a antorchas, como relámpagos se lanzan.

In out-places shine do the chariots, They go to and fro in broad places, Their appearances like torches, As lightnings they run.

5 S e acuerda él de sus nobles que tropiezan en su marcha, se apresuran a su muralla, y es preparada la defensa.

He doth remember his honourable ones, They stumble in their goings, They hasten its wall, and prepared is the covering.

6 L as compuertas de los ríos se abren, y el palacio se llena de terror.

Gates of the rivers have been opened, And the palace is dissolved.

7 E stá decretado: la reina es despojada y deportada, y sus sirvientas gimen como palomas, golpeándose el pecho.

And it is established -- she hath removed, She hath been brought up, And her handmaids are leading as the voice of doves, Tabering on their hearts.

8 A unque Nínive era como estanque de aguas desde la antigüedad; ahora ellos huyen. ¡Deteneos! ¡Deteneos! Pero nadie se vuelve.

And Nineveh as a pool of waters, From of old it -- and they are fleeing! `Stand ye, stand;' and none is turning!

9 ¡ Saquead la plata! ¡Saquead el oro! No hay límite a los tesoros, a las riquezas de toda clase de objetos codiciables.

Seize ye silver, seize ye gold, And there is no end to the prepared things, the abundance of all desirable vessels.

10 ¡ Vacía está! Sí, desolada y desierta. Los corazones se derriten y las rodillas tiemblan; hay también angustia en todo el cuerpo, y los rostros de todos han palidecido.

She is empty, yea, emptiness and waste, And the heart hath melted, And the knees have smitten together, And great pain in all loins, And the faces of all of them have gathered paleness.

11 ¿ Dónde está la guarida de los leones y el lugar donde comen los leoncillos, donde andaban el león, la leona y su cachorro, sin que nada los asustara?

Where the habitation of lionesses? And a feeding-place it for young lions Where walked hath a lion, an old lion, A lion's whelp, and there is none troubling.

12 E l león desgarraba lo suficiente para sus cachorros, mataba para sus leonas, llenaba de presa sus guaridas y de carne desgarrada sus cubiles.

The lion is tearing parts his whelps, And is strangling for his lionesses, And he doth fill prey his holes, And his habitations rapine.

13 H eme aquí contra ti —declara el Señor de los ejércitos. Quemaré y reduciré a humo tus carros, la espada devorará tus leoncillos, arrancaré de la tierra tu presa, y no se oirá más la voz de tus mensajeros.

Lo, I against thee, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I have burned in smoke its chariot, And thy young lions consume doth a sword, And I have cut off from the land thy prey, And not heard any more is the voice of thy messengers!
