1 A grúpate ahora en tropas, hija de guerreros; han puesto sitio contra nosotros. Con una vara herirán en la mejilla al juez de Israel.

Now gather thyself together, O daughter of troops, A siege he hath laid against us, With a rod they smite on the cheek the judge of Israel.

2 P ero tú, Belén Efrata, aunque eres pequeña entre las familias de Judá, de ti me saldrá el que ha de ser gobernante en Israel. Y sus orígenes son desde tiempos antiguos, desde los días de la eternidad.

And thou, Beth-Lehem Ephratah, Little to be among the chiefs of Judah! From thee to Me he cometh forth -- to be ruler in Israel, And his comings forth of old, From the days of antiquity.

3 P or tanto, El los abandonará hasta el tiempo en que dé a luz la que ha de dar a luz. Entonces el resto de sus hermanos volverá a los hijos de Israel.

Therefore he doth give them out till the time She who bringeth forth hath brought forth, And the remnant of his brethren return to the sons of Israel.

4 Y El se afirmará y pastoreará su rebaño con el poder del Señor, con la majestad del nombre del Señor su Dios. Y permanecerán, porque en aquel tiempo El será engrandecido hasta los confines de la tierra.

And he hath stood and delighted in the strength of Jehovah, In the excellency of the name of Jehovah his God, And they have remained, For now he is great unto the ends of earth.

5 Y El será nuestra paz. Cuando el asirio invada nuestra tierra, y cuando huelle nuestros palacios, levantaremos contra él siete pastores y ocho príncipes del pueblo.

And this hath been peace, Asshur! when he doth come into our land, And when he doth tread in our palaces, We have raised against him seven shepherds, And eight anointed of man.

6 Y ellos pastorearán la tierra de Asiria con espada, la tierra de Nimrod en sus puertas; El nos librará del asirio cuando invada nuestra tierra y huelle nuestro territorio.

And they have afflicted the land of Asshur with the sword, And the land of Nimrod at its openings, And he hath delivered from Asshur when he doth come into our land, And when he treadeth in our borders.

7 E ntonces el remanente de Jacob, en medio de muchos pueblos, será como rocío que viene del Señor, como lluvias sobre la hierba que no espera al hombre ni aguarda a los hijos de los hombres.

And the remnant of Jacob hath been in the midst of many peoples, As dew from Jehovah -- as showers on the herb, That waiteth not for man, nor stayeth for the sons of men.

8 Y será el remanente de Jacob entre las naciones, en medio de muchos pueblos, como león entre las fieras de la selva, como leoncillo entre los rebaños de ovejas, que si pasa, huella y desgarra, y no hay quien libre.

Yea, the remnant of Jacob hath been among nations, In the midst of many peoples, As a lion among beasts of a forest, As a young lion among ranks of a flock, Which if it hath passed through, Hath both trodden down and hath torn, And there is no deliverer.

9 S e alzará tu mano contra tus adversarios, y todos tus enemigos serán exterminados.

High is thy hand above thine adversaries, And all thine enemies are cut off.

10 Y sucederá en aquel día —declara el Señor — que exterminaré tus caballos de en medio de ti, y destruiré tus carros.

And it hath come to pass in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, I have cut off thy horses from thy midst, And I have destroyed thy chariots,

11 T ambién exterminaré las ciudades de tu tierra, y derribaré todas tus fortalezas.

And I have cut off the cities of thy land, And I have thrown down all thy fortresses,

12 E xterminaré las hechicerías de tu mano, y no tendrás más adivinos.

And have cut off sorcerers out of thy hand, And observers of clouds thou hast none.

13 E xterminaré tus imágenes talladas y tus pilares sagrados de en medio de ti, y ya no te postrarás más ante la obra de tus manos.

And I have cut off thy graven images, And thy standing-pillars out of thy midst, And thou dost not bow thyself any more To the work of thy hands.

14 A rrancaré tus Aseras de en medio de ti, y destruiré tus ciudades.

And I have plucked up thy shrines out of thy midst, And I have destroyed thine enemies.

15 Y con ira y furor tomaré venganza de las naciones que no obedecieron.

And I have done vengeance in anger and in fury, With the nations who have not hearkened!
