1 Y el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre Azarías, hijo de Oded,

And upon Azariah son of Oded hath been the Spirit of God,

2 y salió al encuentro de Asa y le dijo: Oídme, Asa y todo Judá y Benjamín: el Señor estará con vosotros mientras vosotros estéis con El. Y si le buscáis, se dejará encontrar por vosotros; pero si le abandonáis, os abandonará.

and he goeth out before Asa, and saith to him, `Hear, me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; Jehovah with you -- in your being with Him, and if ye seek Him, He is found of you, and if ye forsake Him, He forsaketh you;

3 Y por muchos días Israel estuvo sin el Dios verdadero, y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley.

and many days to Israel without a true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law,

4 P ero en su angustia se volvieron al Señor, Dios de Israel, y le buscaron, y El se dejó encontrar por ellos.

and it turneth back in its distress unto Jehovah, God of Israel, and they seek Him, and He is found of them,

5 Y en aquellos tiempos no había paz para el que salía ni para el que entraba, sino muchas tribulaciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras.

and in those times there is no peace to him who is going out, and to him who is coming in, for many troubles on all the inhabitants of the lands,

6 Y era destruida nación por nación, y ciudad por ciudad, porque Dios los afligió con toda clase de adversidades.

and they have been beaten down, nation by nation, and city by city, for God hath troubled them with every adversity;

7 M as vosotros, esforzaos y no desmayéis, porque hay recompensa por vuestra obra.

and ye, be ye strong, and let not your hands be feeble, for there is a reward for your work.'

8 Y cuando Asa oyó estas palabras y la profecía del profeta Azarías, hijo de Oded, se animó y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que había conquistado en la región montañosa de Efraín. Entonces restauró el altar del Señor que estaba delante del pórtico del Señor.

And at Asa's hearing these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he hath strengthened himself, and doth cause the abominations to pass away out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities that he hath captured from the hill-country of Ephraim, and reneweth the altar of Jehovah that before the porch of Jehovah,

9 Y reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín y a los de Efraín, Manasés y Simeón que residían con ellos, porque muchos de Israel se pasaron a él cuando vieron que el Señor su Dios estaba con él.

and gathereth all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and out of Simeon -- for they have fallen unto him from Israel in abundance, in their seeing that Jehovah his God with him.

10 S e reunieron, pues, en Jerusalén en el tercer mes del año quince del reinado de Asa.

And they are gathered to Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,

11 Y aquel día sacrificaron al Señor setecientos bueyes y siete mil ovejas del botín que habían traído.

and sacrifice to Jehovah on that day from the spoil they have brought in -- oxen seven hundred, and sheep seven thousand,

12 E hicieron pacto para buscar al Señor, Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma;

and they enter into a covenant to seek Jehovah, God of their fathers, with all their heart, and with all their soul,

13 y que todo el que no buscara al Señor, Dios de Israel, moriría, ya fuera pequeño o grande, hombre o mujer.

and every one who doth not seek for Jehovah, God of Israel, is put to death, from small unto great, from man unto woman.

14 A demás, lo juraron al Señor con gran voz, con gritos, con trompetas y con cuernos.

And they swear to Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets,

15 Y todo Judá se alegró en cuanto al juramento, porque habían jurado de todo corazón y le habían buscado sinceramente, y El se dejó encontrar por ellos. Y el Señor les dio tranquilidad por todas partes.

and rejoice do all Judah concerning the oath, for with all their heart they have sworn, and with all their good-will they have sought Him, and He is found of them, and Jehovah giveth rest to them round about.

16 Y él también depuso a Maaca, su madre, de ser reina madre, porque ella había hecho una horrible imagen de Asera, y Asa derribó la horrible imagen, la hizo pedazos y la quemó junto al torrente Cedrón.

And also Maachah, mother of Asa the king -- he hath removed her from mistress, in that she hath made for a shrine a horrible thing, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and beateth small, and burneth by the brook Kidron:

17 P ero los lugares altos no fueron quitados de Israel; sin embargo, el corazón de Asa fue intachable todos sus días.

yet the high places have not turned aside from Israel; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect all his days.

18 Y trajo a la casa de Dios las cosas consagradas por su padre y sus propias cosas consagradas: plata, oro y utensilios.

And he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 Y no hubo más guerra hasta el año treinta y cinco del reinado de Asa.

And war hath not been till the thirty and fifth year of the reign of Asa.
