1 C uando se acercaron a Jerusalén y llegaron a Betfagé, junto al monte de los Olivos, Jesús entonces envió a dos discípulos,

And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, unto the mount of the Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

2 d iciéndoles: Id a la aldea que está enfrente de vosotros, y enseguida encontraréis un asna atada y un pollino con ella; desatad la y traédme los.

saying to them, `Go on to the village over-against you, and immediately ye shall find an ass bound, and a colt with her -- having loosed, bring ye to me;

3 Y si alguien os dice algo, decid: “El Señor los necesita”; y enseguida los enviará.

and if any one may say anything to you, ye shall say, that the lord hath need of them, and immediately he will send them.'

4 E sto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:

And all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying,

5 D ecid a la hija de Sion: “ Mira, tu Rey viene a ti, humilde y montado en un asna, y en un pollino, hijo de bestia de carga.”

`Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo, thy king doth come to thee, meek, and mounted on an ass, and a colt, a foal of a beast of burden.'

6 E ntonces fueron los discípulos e hicieron tal como Jesús les había mandado,

And the disciples having gone and having done as Jesus commanded them,

7 y trajeron el asna y el pollino; pusieron sobre ellos sus mantos, y Jesús se sentó encima.

brought the ass and the colt, and did put on them their garments, and set upon them;

8 L a mayoría de la multitud tendió sus mantos en el camino; otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las tendían por el camino.

and the very great multitude spread their own garments in the way, and others were cutting branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way,

9 Y las multitudes que iban delante de El, y las que iban detrás, gritaban, diciendo: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡ Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!

and the multitudes who were going before, and who were following, were crying, saying, `Hosanna to the Son of David, blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.'

10 C uando El entró en Jerusalén, toda la ciudad se agitó, y decían: ¿Quién es éste?

And he having entered into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, `Who is this?'

11 Y las multitudes contestaban: Este es el profeta Jesús, de Nazaret de Galilea. Jesús echa a los mercaderes del templo

And the multitudes said, `This is Jesus the prophet, who from Nazareth of Galilee.'

12 Y entró Jesús en el templo y echó fuera a todos los que compraban y vendían en el templo, y volcó las mesas de los cambistas y los asientos de los que vendían las palomas.

And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and did cast forth all those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers he overturned, and the seats of those selling the doves,

13 Y les dijo: Escrito está: “ Mi casa sera llamada casa de oracion ”, pero vosotros la estáis haciendo cueva de ladrones.

and he saith to them, `It hath been written, My house a house of prayer shall be called, but ye did make it a den of robbers.'

14 Y en el templo se acercaron a El los ciegos y los cojos, y los sanó.

And there came to him blind and lame men in the temple, and he healed them,

15 P ero cuando los principales sacerdotes y los escribas vieron las maravillas que había hecho, y a los muchachos que gritaban en el templo y que decían: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David!, se indignaron

and the chief priests and the scribes having seen the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, `Hosanna to the Son of David,' were much displeased;

16 y le dijeron: ¿Oyes lo que éstos dicen? Y Jesús les respondió: Sí, ¿nunca habéis leído: “ De la boca de los pequeños y de los niños de pecho te has preparado alabanza ”?

and they said to him, `Hearest thou what these say?' And Jesus saith to them, `Yes, did ye never read, that, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst prepare praise?'

17 Y dejándolos, salió fuera de la ciudad, a Betania, y se hospedó allí. La higuera estéril

And having left them, he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and did lodge there,

18 P or la mañana, cuando regresaba a la ciudad, tuvo hambre.

and in the morning turning back to the city, he hungered,

19 Y al ver una higuera junto al camino, se acercó a ella, pero no halló nada en ella sino sólo hojas, y le dijo: Nunca jamás brote fruto de ti. Y al instante se secó la higuera.

and having seen a certain fig-tree on the way, he came to it, and found nothing in it except leaves only, and he saith to it, `No more from thee may fruit be -- to the age;' and forthwith the fig-tree withered.

20 A l ver esto, los discípulos se maravillaron y decían: ¿Cómo es que la higuera se secó al instante?

And the disciples having seen, did wonder, saying, `How did the fig-tree forthwith wither?'

21 R espondiendo Jesús, les dijo: En verdad os digo que si tenéis fe y no dudáis, no sólo haréis lo de la higuera, sino que aun si decís a este monte: “Quítate y échate al mar”, así sucederá.

And Jesus answering said to them, `Verily I say to you, If ye may have faith, and may not doubt, not only this of the fig-tree shall ye do, but even if to this mount ye may say, Be lifted up and be cast into the sea, it shall come to pass;

22 Y todo lo que pidáis en oración, creyendo, lo recibiréis. La autoridad de Jesús puesta en duda

and all -- as much as ye may ask in the prayer, believing, ye shall receive.'

23 C uando llegó Jesús al templo, los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo se le acercaron mientras enseñaba, diciendo: ¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, y quién te dio esta autoridad?

And he having come to the temple, there came to him when teaching the chief priests and the elders of the people, saying, `By what authority dost thou do these things? and who gave thee this authority?'

24 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Yo también os haré una pregunta, que si me la contestáis, yo también os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

And Jesus answering said to them, `I will ask you -- I also -- one word, which if ye may tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things;

25 ¿ De dónde era el bautismo de Juan?, ¿del cielo o de los hombres? Y ellos discurrían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos: “Del cielo”, El nos dirá: “Entonces, ¿por qué no le creísteis?”

the baptism of John, whence was it? -- from heaven, or from men?' And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, `If we should say, From heaven; he will say to us, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?

26 Y si decimos: “De los hombres”, tememos a la multitud; porque todos tienen a Juan por profeta.

and if we should say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.'

27 Y respondiendo a Jesús, dijeron: No sabemos. El a su vez les dijo: Tampoco yo os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

And answering Jesus they said, `We have not known.' He said to them -- he also -- `Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

28 P ero, ¿qué os parece? Un hombre tenía dos hijos, y llegándose al primero, le dijo: “Hijo, ve, trabaja hoy en la viña.”

`And what think ye? A man had two children, and having come to the first, he said, Child, go, to-day be working in my vineyard.'

29 Y respondiendo él, dijo: “No quiero;” pero después, arrepentido, fue.

And he answering said, `I will not,' but at last, having repented, he went.

30 Y llegándose al otro, le dijo lo mismo; pero él respondió y dijo: “Yo iré, señor”; y no fue.

`And having come to the second, he said in the same manner, and he answering said, I, sir, and went not;

31 ¿ Cuál de los dos hizo la voluntad del padre? Ellos dijeron: El primero. Jesús les dijo: En verdad os digo que los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras entran en el reino de Dios antes que vosotros.

which of the two did the will of the father?' They say to him, `The first.' Jesus saith to them, `Verily I say to you, that the tax-gatherers and the harlots do go before you into the reign of God,

32 P orque Juan vino a vosotros en camino de justicia y no le creísteis, pero los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras le creyeron; y vosotros, viendo esto, ni siquiera os arrepentisteis después para creerle. Parábola de los labradores malvados

for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye did not believe him, and the tax-gatherers and the harlots did believe him, and ye, having seen, repented not at last -- to believe him.

33 E scuchad otra parábola. Había una vez un hacendado que planto una viña y la cerco con un muro, y cavo en ella un lagar y edifico una torre, la arrendó a unos labradores y se fue de viaje.

`Hear ye another simile: There was a certain man, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and did put a hedge round it, and digged in it a wine-press, and built a tower, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went abroad.

34 Y cuando se acercó el tiempo de la cosecha, envió sus siervos a los labradores para recibir sus frutos.

`And when the season of the fruits came nigh, he sent his servants unto the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it,

35 P ero los labradores, tomando a los siervos, a uno lo golpearon, a otro lo mataron y a otro lo apedrearon.

and the husbandmen having taken his servants, one they scourged, and one they killed, and one they stoned.

36 V olvió a mandar otro grupo de siervos, mayor que el primero; y les hicieron lo mismo.

`Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they did to them in the same manner.

37 F inalmente les envió a su hijo, diciendo: “Respetarán a mi hijo.”

`And at last he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son;

38 P ero cuando los labradores vieron al hijo, dijeron entre sí: “Este es el heredero; venid, matémoslo y apoderémonos de su heredad.”

and the husbandmen having seen the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come, we may kill him, and may possess his inheritance;

39 Y echándole mano, lo arrojaron fuera de la viña y lo mataron.

and having taken him, they cast out of the vineyard, and killed him;

40 C uando venga, pues, el dueño de la viña, ¿qué hará a esos labradores?

whenever therefore the lord of the vineyard may come, what will he do to these husbandmen?'

41 E llos le dijeron: Llevará a esos miserables a un fin lamentable, y arrendará la viña a otros labradores que le paguen los frutos a su tiempo.

They say to him, `Evil men -- he will evilly destroy them, and the vineyard will give out to other husbandmen, who will give back to him the fruits in their seasons.'

42 J esús les dijo: ¿Nunca leísteis en las Escrituras: “ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido; esto fue hecho de parte del Señor, y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos ”?

Jesus saith to them, `Did ye never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord hath this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

43 P or eso os digo que el reino de Dios os será quitado y será dado a una nación que produzca sus frutos.

`Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit;

44 Y el que caiga sobre esta piedra será hecho pedazos; pero sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo.

and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.'

45 A l oír sus parábolas los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos, comprendieron que hablaba de ellos.

And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaketh,

46 Y cuando procuraron prenderle, tuvieron miedo de la multitud, porque le tenían por profeta.

and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.
