1 E ntonces salieron todos los hijos de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, incluyendo la tierra de Galaad, y la congregación se reunió al Señor como un solo hombre en Mizpa.

And all the sons of Israel go out, and the company is assembled as one man, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, and the land of Gilead, unto Jehovah, at Mizpeh.

2 Y los jefes de todo el pueblo, de todas las tribus de Israel, tomaron su puesto en la asamblea del pueblo de Dios, cuatrocientos mil soldados de a pie que sacaban espada.

And the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, station themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen drawing sword.

3 ( Y los hijos de Benjamín oyeron que los hijos de Israel habían subido a Mizpa.) Y los hijos de Israel dijeron: Decid nos, ¿cómo ocurrió esta maldad?

And the sons of Benjamin hear that the sons of Israel have gone up to Mizpeh. And the sons of Israel say, `Speak ye, how hath this evil been?'

4 E ntonces el levita, marido de la mujer que había sido asesinada, respondió y dijo: Vine con mi concubina a pasar la noche en Guibeá de Benjamín.

And the man, the Levite, husband of the woman who hath been murdered, answereth and saith, `Into Gibeah (which to Benjamin) I have come, I and my concubine, to lodge;

5 M as los hombres de Guibeá se levantaron contra mí, y rodearon la casa por la noche por causa mía. Tenían intención de matarme; pero en vez de esto, violaron a mi concubina de tal manera que murió.

and rise against me do the masters of Gibeah -- and they go round the house against me by night -- me they thought to slay, and my concubine they have humbled, and she dieth;

6 T omé entonces a mi concubina, la corté en pedazos y la envié por todo el territorio de la heredad de Israel; porque han cometido lascivia e infamia en Israel.

and I lay hold on my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and send her into all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have done wickedness and folly in Israel;

7 H e aquí, todos vosotros, hijos de Israel, dad aquí vuestro parecer y consejo.

lo, ye all sons of Israel; give for you a word and counsel here.'

8 E ntonces todo el pueblo se levantó como un solo hombre, diciendo: Ninguno de nosotros irá a su tienda, ni ninguno de nosotros volverá a su casa.

And all the people rise as one man, saying, `None of us doth go to his tent, and none of us doth turn aside to his house;

9 Y ahora esto es lo que haremos a Guibeá: subiremos contra la ciudad por sorteo;

and now, this the thing which we do to Gibeah -- against it by lot!

10 t omaremos diez hombres de cada cien por todas las tribus de Israel, y cien de cada mil, y mil de cada diez mil para proveer víveres para el pueblo, para que cuando vayan a Guibeá de Benjamín los castiguen por toda la infamia que han cometido en Israel.

and we have taken ten men of a hundred, of all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred of a thousand, and a thousand of a myriad, to receive provision for the people, to do, at their coming to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly which it hath done in Israel.'

11 A sí se juntaron contra la ciudad todos los hombres de Israel, como un solo hombre.

And every man of Israel is gathered unto the city, as one man -- companions.

12 E ntonces las tribus de Israel enviaron hombres por toda la tribu de Benjamín, diciendo: ¿Qué es esta infamia que se ha cometido entre vosotros?

And the tribes of Israel send men among all the tribes of Benjamin, saying, `What this evil which hath been among you?

13 A hora pues, entregad a los hombres, los hombres perversos en Guibeá, para que les demos muerte y quitemos esta infamia de Israel. Pero los hijos de Benjamín no quisieron escuchar la voz de sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.

And now, give up the men -- sons of worthlessness -- which in Gibeah, and we put them to death, and we put away evil from Israel.' And Benjamin have not been willing to hearken to the voice of their brethren, the sons of Israel;

14 Y los hijos de Benjamín, de sus ciudades, se reunieron en Guibeá para salir a combatir contra los hijos de Israel.

and the sons of Benjamin are gathered out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle with the sons of Israel.

15 Y de las ciudades fueron contados en aquel día, de los hijos de Benjamín, veintiséis mil hombres que sacaban espada, además de los habitantes de Guibeá que fueron contados, setecientos hombres escogidos.

And the sons of Benjamin number themselves on that day; out of the cities twenty and six thousand men drawing sword, apart from the inhabitants of Gibeah, numbered themselves, seven hundred chosen men;

16 D e toda esta gente, setecientos hombres escogidos eran zurdos; capaces cada uno de lanzar con la honda una piedra a un cabello sin errar.

among all this people seven hundred chosen men, bound of their right hand, each of these slinging with a stone at the hair, and he doth not err.

17 E ntonces los hombres de Israel, fuera de Benjamín, fueron contados, cuatrocientos mil hombres que sacaban espada; todos estos eran hombres de guerra.

And the men of Israel numbered themselves, apart from Benjamin, four hundred thousand men, drawing sword, each of these a man of war.

18 L os hijos de Israel se levantaron, subieron a Betel, y consultaron a Dios, y dijeron: ¿Quién de nosotros subirá primero a pelear contra los hijos de Benjamín? Entonces el Señor dijo: Judá subirá primero.

And they rise and go up to Beth-El, and ask of God, and the sons of Israel say, `Who doth go up for us at the commencement to battle with the sons of Benjamin?' and Jehovah saith, `Judah -- at the commencement.'

19 L os hijos de Israel se levantaron por la mañana y acamparon contra Guibeá.

And the sons of Israel rise in the morning, and encamp against Gibeah,

20 Y los hombres de Israel salieron a combatir contra Benjamín, y los hombres de Israel se pusieron en orden de batalla contra ellos en Guibeá.

and the men of Israel go out to battle with Benjamin, and the men of Israel set themselves in array with them, battle against Gibeah,

21 P ero los hijos de Benjamín salieron de Guibeá y derribaron por tierra en aquel día veintidós mil hombres de Israel.

and the sons of Benjamin come out from Gibeah, and destroy in Israel on that day two and twenty thousand men -- to the earth.

22 P ero el pueblo, los hombres de Israel, se reanimaron, y se pusieron otra vez en orden de batalla en el lugar donde se habían puesto el primer día.

And the people, the men of Israel, strengthen themselves, and add to set the battle in array in the place where they arranged themselves on the first day.

23 Y subieron los hijos de Israel y lloraron delante del Señor hasta la noche, y consultaron al Señor, diciendo: ¿Nos acercaremos otra vez para combatir contra los hijos de mi hermano Benjamín? Y el Señor dijo: Subid contra él.

And the sons of Israel go up and weep before Jehovah till the evening, and ask of Jehovah, saying, `Do I add to draw nigh to battle with the sons of Benjamin, my brother?' And Jehovah saith, `Go up against him.'

24 E ntonces los hijos de Israel fueron contra los hijos de Benjamín el segundo día.

And the sons of Israel draw near unto the sons of Benjamin on the second day,

25 Y salió Benjamín de Guibeá contra ellos el segundo día y otra vez hizo caer dieciocho mil hombres de los hijos de Israel; todos éstos sacaban espada.

and Benjamin cometh out to meet them from Gibeah on the second day, and destroy among the sons of Israel again eighteen thousand men -- to the earth; all these are drawing sword.

26 T odos los hijos de Israel y todo el pueblo subieron y vinieron a Betel y lloraron; y permanecieron allí delante del Señor y ayunaron ese día hasta la noche. Y ofrecieron holocaustos y ofrendas de paz delante del Señor.

And all the sons of Israel go up, even all the people, and come in to Beth-El, and weep, and sit there before Jehovah, and fast on that day till the evening, and cause to ascend burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.

27 Y consultaron los hijos de Israel al Señor (porque el arca del pacto de Dios estaba allí en aquellos días,

And the sons of Israel ask of Jehovah, -- and there the ark of the covenant of God in those days,

28 y Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, estaba delante de ella para ministrar en aquellos días), diciendo: ¿Volveré a salir otra vez a combatir contra los hijos de mi hermano Benjamín, o desistiré? Y el Señor dijo: Subid, porque mañana lo entregaré en tu mano. Derrota y exterminio de los benjamitas

and Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, is standing before it in those days -- saying, `Do I add again to go out to battle with the sons of Benjamin, my brother, or do I cease?' And Jehovah saith, `Go up, for to-morrow I give him into thy hand.'

29 P uso, pues, Israel emboscadas alrededor de Guibeá.

And Israel setteth liers in wait against Gibeah, round about,

30 L os hijos de Israel subieron contra los hijos de Benjamín al tercer día, y se pusieron en orden de batalla contra Guibeá como las otras veces.

and the sons of Israel go up against the sons of Benjamin, on the third day, and arrange themselves against Gibeah, as time by time.

31 Y salieron los hijos de Benjamín contra el pueblo, siendo alejados de la ciudad; y comenzaron como las otras veces a herir y a matar a algunos del pueblo por los caminos, uno de los cuales sube a Betel y el otro a Guibeá, en campo abierto; mataron a unos treinta hombres de Israel.

And the sons of Benjamin come out to meet the people; they have been drawn away out of the city, and begin to smite of the people -- wounded as time by time, in the highways (of which one is going up to Beth-El, and the other to Gibeah in the field), about thirty men of Israel.

32 Y los hijos de Benjamín dijeron: Están derrotados delante de nosotros como la primera vez. Pero los hijos de Israel dijeron: Huyamos para que los alejemos de la ciudad hacia los caminos.

And the sons of Benjamin say, `They are smitten before us as at the beginning;' but the sons of Israel said, `Let us flee, and draw them away out of the city, unto the highways.'

33 E ntonces todos los hombres de Israel se levantaron de sus puestos y se pusieron en orden de batalla en Baal-tamar; y los emboscados de Israel salieron de sus puestos, de Maareh-geba.

And all the men of Israel have risen from their place, and arrange themselves at Baal-Tamar, and the ambush of Israel is coming forth out of its place, out of the meadow of Gibeah.

34 C uando diez mil hombres escogidos de todo Israel fueron contra Guibeá, la batalla se hizo reñida; pero Benjamín no sabía que el desastre se le acercaba.

And they come in over against Gibeah -- ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel -- and the battle grievous, and they have not known that the evil is striking against them.

35 Y el Señor hirió a Benjamín delante de Israel, de modo que los hijos de Israel destruyeron ese día a veinticinco mil cien hombres de Benjamín, todos los que sacaban espada.

And Jehovah smiteth Benjamin before Israel, and the sons of Israel destroy in Benjamin, on that day, twenty and five thousand, and a hundred men; all these drawing sword.

36 Y los hijos de Benjamín vieron que estaban derrotados. Cuando los hombres de Israel cedieron terreno a Benjamín porque confiaban en las emboscadas que habían puesto contra Guibeá,

And the sons of Benjamin see that they have been smitten -- and the men of Israel give place to Benjamin, for they have trusted unto the ambush which they had set against Gibeah,

37 l os emboscados se apresuraron y se lanzaron contra Guibeá, y se desplegaron e hirieron toda la ciudad a filo de espada.

and the ambush have hasted, and push against Gibeah, and the ambush draweth itself out, and smiteth the whole of the city by the mouth of the sword.

38 Y fue la señal convenida entre los hombres de Israel y los emboscados, que ellos harían que se levantara una gran nube de humo de la ciudad.

And there was the appointed sign to the men of Israel with the ambush -- their causing to go up a great volume of smoke from the city.

39 E ntonces los hombres de Israel regresaron a la batalla, y Benjamín empezó a herir y matar a unos treinta hombres de Israel, porque dijeron: Ciertamente están derrotados delante de nosotros como en la primera batalla.

And the men of Israel turn in battle, and Benjamin hath begun to smite the wounded among the men of Israel, about thirty men, for they said, `Surely they are utterly smitten before us, as the first battle;

40 P ero cuando la nube de humo como columna empezó a levantarse de la ciudad, Benjamín miró tras sí; y he aquí, de toda la ciudad subía humo al cielo.

and the volume hath begun to go up from the city -- a pillar of smoke -- and Benjamin turneth behind, and lo, gone up hath the perfection of the city toward the heavens.

41 E ntonces los hombres de Israel se volvieron, y los hombres de Benjamín se aterrorizaron porque vieron que el desastre se les acercaba.

And the men of Israel have turned, and the men of Benjamin are troubled, for they have seen that the evil hath stricken against them --

42 P or tanto, volvieron la espalda ante los hombres de Israel en dirección al desierto, pero la batalla los alcanzó, y los que salían de las ciudades los destruían en medio de ellos.

and they turn before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness, and the battle hath followed them; and those who from the city are destroying them in their midst;

43 C ercaron a Benjamín, lo persiguieron sin tregua y lo aplastaron frente a Guibeá, hacia el oriente.

they have compassed the Benjamites -- they have pursued them -- with ease they have trodden them down till over-against Gibeah, at the sun-rising.

44 C ayeron dieciocho mil hombres de Benjamín; todos ellos eran valientes guerreros.

And there fall of Benjamin eighteen thousand men -- the whole of these men of valour;

45 Y los demás se volvieron y huyeron al desierto, a la peña de Rimón, pero capturaron a cinco mil de ellos en los caminos, y a otros los persiguieron muy de cerca hasta Gidom y mataron a dos mil de ellos.

and they turn and flee toward the wilderness, unto the rock of Rimmon; and they glean of them in the highways five thousand men, and follow after them unto Gidom, and smite of them two thousand men.

46 E l total de los de Benjamín que cayeron aquel día fue de veinticinco mil hombres que sacaban espada, todos ellos valientes guerreros.

And all those falling of Benjamin are twenty and five thousand men drawing sword, on that day -- the whole of these men of valour;

47 P ero seiscientos hombres se volvieron y huyeron al desierto, a la peña de Rimón, y permanecieron en la peña de Rimón cuatro meses.

and there turn and flee into the wilderness, unto the rock of Rimmon six hundred men, and they dwell in the rock Rimmon four months.

48 E ntonces los hombres de Israel se volvieron contra los hijos de Benjamín y los hirieron a filo de espada, a toda la ciudad, así como el ganado y todo lo que encontraron; también prendieron fuego a todas las ciudades que hallaron.

And the men of Israel have turned back unto the sons of Benjamin, and smite them by the mouth of the sword out of the city, -- men unto cattle, unto all that is found; also all the cities which are found they have sent into fire.
