1 A caz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor como su padre David había hecho,

A son of twenty years Ahaz in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he hath not done that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, as David his father,

2 s ino que anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel; también hizo imágenes fundidas para los baales.

and walketh in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also, molten images hath made for Baalim,

3 Q uemó además incienso en el valle de Ben-hinom, e hizo pasar a sus hijos por fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que el Señor había arrojado de delante de los hijos de Israel.

and himself hath made perfume in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burneth his sons with fire according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

4 Y sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en los montes y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

and sacrificeth and maketh perfume in high places, and on the heights, and under every green tree.

5 P or lo cual el Señor su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los arameos, que lo derrotaron, tomaron de él gran número de cautivos y los llevaron a Damasco. Y también él fue entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo hirió con gran mortandad.

And Jehovah his God giveth him into the hand of the king of Aram, and they smite him, and take captive from him a great captivity, and bring in to Damascus, and also into the hand of the king of Israel he hath been given, and he smiteth him -- a great smiting.

6 P orque Peka, hijo de Remalías, mató en Judá a ciento veinte mil en un día, todos hombres valientes, porque habían abandonado al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

And Pekah son of Remaliah slayeth in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day (the whole sons of valour), because of their forsaking Jehovah, God of their fathers.

7 Y Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, y a Azricam, mayordomo de la casa, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

And Zichri, a mighty one of Ephraim, slayeth Maaseiah son of the king, and Azrikam leader of the house, and Elkanah second to the king.

8 Y los hijos de Israel se llevaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas; y tomaron también mucho botín de ellos y se llevaron el botín a Samaria.

And the sons of Israel take captive of their brethren, two hundred thousand, wives, sons and daughters, and also much spoil they have seized from them, and they bring in the spoil to Samaria.

9 P ero había allí un profeta del Señor llamado Oded, y éste salió al encuentro del ejército que venía a Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí, porque el Señor, Dios de vuestros padres, estaba airado con Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos, y los habéis matado con una furia que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

And there hath been there a prophet of Jehovah (Oded his name), and he goeth out before the host that hath come in to Samaria, and saith to them, `Lo, in the fury of Jehovah God of your fathers against Judah, He hath given them into your hand, and ye slay among them in rage -- unto the heavens it hath come;

10 Y ahora os proponéis subyugar a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas vuestros. ¿No tenéis ciertamente transgresiones de parte vuestra contra el Señor vuestro Dios?

and now, sons of Judah and Jerusalem ye are saying to subdue for men-servants and for maid-servants to you; but are there not with you causes of guilt before Jehovah your God?

11 A hora pues, oídme, y devolved a los cautivos que capturasteis de vuestros hermanos, porque el furor de la ira del Señor está contra vosotros.

and now, hear me, and send back the captives whom ye have taken captive of your brethren, for the heat of the anger of Jehovah upon you.'

12 E ntonces algunos de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín: Azarías, hijo de Johanán, Berequías, hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías, hijo de Salum, y Amasa, hijo de Hadlai, se levantaron contra los que venían de la batalla,

And certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim (Azariah son of Johanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai), rise up against those coming in from the host,

13 y les dijeron: No traigáis aquí a los cautivos; porque os proponéis traer sobre nosotros culpa contra el Señor, añadiendo a nuestros pecados y a nuestra culpa; porque nuestra culpa es grande y el furor de su ira está contra Israel.

and say to them, `Ye do not bring in the captives hither, for, to guilt against Jehovah on us, ye are saying to add unto our sin and unto our guilt? for abundant the guilt we have, and the fierceness of anger on Israel.'

14 E ntonces los hombres armados dejaron los cautivos y el botín delante de los oficiales y de toda la asamblea.

And the armed men leave the captives and the prey before the heads and all the assembly;

15 Y se levantaron los hombres que habían sido designados por nombre y tomaron a los cautivos, y del botín vistieron a todos los desnudos y les dieron vestidos y sandalias; les dieron de comer y de beber y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los débiles y los llevaron a Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, junto a sus hermanos; entonces volvieron a Samaria.

and the men who have been expressed by name rise and take hold on the captives, and all their naked ones they have clothed from the spoil, yea, they clothe them, and shoe them, and cause them to eat and drink, and anoint them, and lead them on asses, even every feeble one, and bring them in to Jericho, the city of palms, near their brethren, and turn back to Samaria.

16 E n aquel tiempo el rey Acaz envió a pedir ayuda a los reyes de Asiria.

At that time hath king Ahaz sent unto the king of Asshur to give help to him;

17 P orque los edomitas habían venido de nuevo y atacado a Judá y se habían llevado algunos cautivos.

and again the Edomites have come, and smite in Judah, and take captive a captivity.

18 T ambién los filisteos habían invadido las ciudades de las tierras bajas y del Neguev de Judá, y habían tomado Bet-semes, Ajalón, Gederot y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y se establecieron allí.

And the Philistines have rushed against the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and capture Beth-Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho and its villages, and Timnah and its villages, and Gimzo and its villages, and dwell there,

19 P orque el Señor humilló a Judá a causa de Acaz, rey de Israel, pues él había permitido el desenfreno en Judá, y fue muy infiel al Señor.

for Jehovah hath humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he made free with Judah, even to commit a trespass against Jehovah.

20 Y vino contra él Tilgat-pilneser, rey de Asiria, y lo afligió en vez de fortalecerlo.

And Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur cometh in unto him, and doth distress him, and hath not strengthened him,

21 P ues Acaz había tomado una porción del tesoro de la casa del Señor, del palacio del rey y de los príncipes, y la había dado al rey de Asiria; pero no le sirvió de nada.

though Ahaz hath taken a portion of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king, and of the princes, and giveth to the king of Asshur, yet it is no help to him.

22 Y en el tiempo de su angustia este rey Acaz fue aún más infiel al Señor;

And in the time of his distress -- he addeth to trespass against Jehovah, (this king Ahaz),

23 s acrificaba a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían derrotado, y decía: Por cuanto los dioses de los reyes de Aram los ayudaron, sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden. Pero ellos fueron su ruina y la de todo Israel.

and he sacrificeth to the gods of Damascus -- those smiting him, and saith, `Because the gods of the kings of Aram are helping them, to them I sacrifice, and they help me,' and they have been to him to cause him to stumble, and to all Israel.

24 A demás, cuando Acaz recogió los utensilios de la casa de Dios, hizo pedazos los utensilios de la casa de Dios; cerró las puertas de la casa del Señor e hizo para sí altares en cada rincón de Jerusalén.

And Ahaz gathereth the vessels of the house of God, and cutteth in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shutteth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and maketh to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem.

25 Y en cada ciudad de Judá hizo lugares altos para quemar incienso a otros dioses, y provocó a ira al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

And in every city and city of Judah he hath made high places to make perfume to other gods, and provoketh Jehovah, God of his fathers.

26 L os demás de sus hechos y todos sus caminos, los primeros y los postreros, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

And the rest of his matters, and all his ways, the first and the last, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27 Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad, en Jerusalén, pues no lo pusieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Ezequías reinó en su lugar.

And Ahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city, in Jerusalem, but have not brought him in to the graves of the kings of Israel, and reign doth Hezekiah his son in his stead.
